Sorta new to this, but my crew and I use party chat or discord. They are on PC and I am Xbox one w/keyboard and mouse. Game installed on SSD. We finally were able to all be on game chat and all hear each other after many attempts and setting changes. Then went to party chat so other crews can't hear us. My crew can hear others in game chat, but I can't. I would like to be able to party chat and hear and talk to others on the seas. Someone mentioned about toggle between something(don't know how to do that)...but truly no time for that really. My headset is noise cancelling...so..hard to hear outside of the headset. Can someone tell me if I'm trying to do something impossible on Xbox and this game. I'm pulling my hair out on this. Seems simple, but dang.

This is a limitation with Party Chat on Xbox - It is a secure environment and your voice cannot transfer out of it and you can not hear game sound into in.
PC Players don't face this issue due to how it is implemented in Xbox apps there.
@sawtoothsally just press the XBox-button and go down to the party-chat...on the right side it tells you which button to change to gamechat...there is no faster or other way...you stay in the party, so to get back into the party repeat that...

I do always play hot mic though - it's nice to interact with other pirates out on the seas vocally. Secluding yourself in your own world really does keep half of the potential of this game locked for me.
I have met many a wonderful pirate (many of who are now friends) that were all random encounters out at see and I just yelled AHOY at them!

As a person who has mostly just Pc gamed, it boggles my mind how hearing both isn't standard. I think its time for Xbox to join in on the modern times. That and Xbox players need push to talk in a bad way. I'm tired of hearing every cough, sneeze, box fan, vacuum cleaner, and [mod edited] in the background of my gaming sessions.
That's why I use one of the older models of XBox headsets, it comes with a mute button attached to the controller so I'm not constantly broadcasting every background noise to the others around me, and it's updated to have the same sound quality. It would be quite nice to have the party and game chats merged, I believe SoT already has push-to-talk so it shouldn't be all that hard to implement here, at least.
@inboundbomb so toggle between the two - doesn't work? You actually need to leave party, talk in game, then rejoin party? If so, forget battling efficiently.

Yeah, the toggle doesn't seem to work at the moment. Mu crew and I do this. 2 are on PC so they can hear me and my other crew mate on Xbox in game chat when we want to take over someone else's ship to get more crew in the server. It worked before but within the last 2 updates I believe it has became broken.
@sawtoothsally While you can't hear other pirate crews while in Xbox party chat, 1 work-around that I've discovered is the game's support of speech-to-text. Go to your console's accessibility settings and turn this feature on. If you do, any pirate crew's speech that's within a certain range will be visible as text on the upper left of your screen. It's not perfect, but it'll keep you from being caught completely unaware or off-guard if their crew has a chatty-Kathy.

You don't have to leave the party chat, just change to the game chat...you are still in the party but you can't hear or talk anyone in there...after you said everything in the gamechat just change back to the party chat

Not a problem. Hopefully they will resolve this soon or maybe they want to this way. I don't know.
