So.. i just finished fort of damned with my squad and fought of some ships trying to steal the loot from us, we sank some but we finally got sank by this one brig, i hid the athena + most of the best loot on the island then went to explode barrel on this enemy brig and went to my new ship so i could come back but no.. server migrate happens. So i'm trying to ask if there's any possible way to not get server migrate if you have held athena in last 20 minutes of something so these kinda things wouldn't happen.
Server Migration / Automatic server change
100% agree lol well said pithy!
Obviously anchor drop also shouldnt count if you just sunk like in this example :)
I killed a meg, kraken and skelle ship and got migrated while collecting it lol some of the loot followed me.. but ended up floating into space? Ha ha
Except players were completely avoiding dropping the anchor to end up in dead servers which probably caused them a bunch of headaches with servers still open because a lone crew is never dropping anchor.
After a certain time period servers stop populating and are suppose to shut down to reset. Doesn't happen when players are avoiding server merges.
Now they used to have it to where everything in your vicinity used to migrate with you, loot and what not. Like 2 squares in every directions from you. Don't know how or why this changed. Maybe its a bug that they don't know about? Could be a bug they know about and are working on it. Don't know.
Would agree that they should have someway not to lose out on loot from a server merge but I was never a fan of the "never drop anchor so never server merge" meta.
DuUuh... why do you think some of us learned drift distances and never dropped anchor?
The new migration causes a few precious seconds of not having ship control that could end up with a ship sinking and loot lost without a viable reason other than you didn't know you were one of 2 ships on your server. An extreme case, but if we're speaking on fairness a variable you must factor in.
Especially for people playing on stock xb1 who have a longer black screen than everyone else.
I don't understand what your reply is suppose to convey.
Are you disagree or agreeing? Because I was just clarifying that the anchor drop system was definitely causing issues but that I agreed that the new migration system is migrating players without the loot. Also stated that the game at least used to migrate loot that was around the ship to the next server when migrating but it doesn't seem to anymore. So again I don't know exactly what your reply is trying to convey.
From what I've been told the new migration system only migrates you when everyone is on the ship and if you are perfectly still. Doesn't migrate you when you are moving or engaged in PvE. So I don't understand these extreme cases you are talking about.
@xultanis-dragon I was digging up some chest and killing some skeleton captains at a volcano island. My ship was parked with anchor down on one side of the island and I went with the little boat around the island to dig up the chests. I had about 6 chests and 4 skulls and some random other stuff in my little boat. But then I die because of a suicide skeleton. I respawn on my ship, but the server has changed and the little boat with all loot is gone. This was extremely frustrating. : (
