As a solo player, skeleton ships are the single most infuriating thing in this game. It is very common that I spend over and hour getting loot, only to have a skeleton galleon spawn on me and kill me in seconds. The fact that Galleons spawn against single players in sloops is ridiculous and completely unfair. I am completely unable to defend myself when I am being pelted with cursed cannonballs, fire bombs, and cannonballs. At least make it so sloops spawn against solo sloops.
Fix Skeleton Ships For Solo Players
Yeah i sailed into it a couple of times by accident xD your probably right its the shipbattle with shipcloud that gives galleons because well so far not a single skellie galleon spawned on me sloop.. i only get skellie sloops
@captain-coel @Ruigtand-NL Oh thanks for the info guys. Maybe they did patch it idk. I remember though not too long ago there wouldn't need to be clouds for the galleons to spawn on you. The galleons would spawn on you randomly in the wild.

A) Skellie galleons don't spawn on sloops anymore. It's been that way for quite some time. If a skellie galleon spawned on you, it's your own fault because you wandered into the fleet battle region. Pay more attention to where you're sailing.
B) While fighting skellie galleons solo isn't the easiest thing in the game, it's not insurmountable. Those of us who have been playing a while love that kind of challenge. Most of the PvE in the game is too easy. I was disappointed when they changed it so galleons wouldn't spawn on sloops anymore. The skellie sloops are annoyances, at best.
C) Skellie ships in general are far easier to escape than they used to be. Just sail around an island, or even a big rock, and you're bound to lose them. It's not that hard.
Sounds like you sailed into a fleet battle area if they fired fire bombs.
Cursed cannonballs arent as bad as they used to be.
Best thing to do is sail to an island and wait for it to circle, then sail away as its at the opposite end and you will lose them.
I enjoy fighting them so i would hate it to be made easier as they are really easy to kill solo.
Even the fleet are possible solo.
Its best to just learn how to deal with them rather than asking for a nerf.
Gotta remember too, if they are easy to solo, they are laughable in a crew.
So it would ruin the game if you got your way unfortunately..
You are supposed to only get skellie-sloops when you are a Sloop yourself but super rarely the game throws a Galleon on you anyway but only happend once for me so keep that in mind.
Best tip i can give you vs a Skellie-Sloop is to shoot 1-3 fireballs at them around their cannon-area and then just keep spamming cannonballs on their cannon so they can't shoot back and eventually they will sink. Combo it with a dance/sleep ball makes it even better!

This. A thousand times this.
@captaingarlic12 skeleton galleons cannot spawn on sloops UNLESS either of two following things happen:
1 - you pass too close to a roaming skeleton galleon and it agros on you
2 - you sail trough the Fleet battle area easily noticed by the big red ship cloud in the sky
Both of these situations are entirely avoidable!
Then there is the fact that skeleton ships are a laughing stock on the seas i solo ship fleets all the time and have sunk at least 200 ~ 250 skelly ships (including galleons) solo the past 2 months.
i just had to fight a meg( i killed it) then a minute later skeleton ship+kraken at the same time in a solo sloop granted the ship was a skele sloop but still tough considering i used most of my resources on the meg and had no time to stop of for supplies but then again that is the charm of the game one minute its calm water and banjos the next its a clusterf*** of dangers. that is what makes this game different.

Also, firebomb them. Skelly ships don't shoot when they're on fire.
I didn't know about this. Thanks! 😁
Umm long time I haven't seen a Fix skeleton ships thread. It used to be very common as PVE server series.
If you are playing since release, maybe you haven't play too much or maybe your learn the ropes slowly. Skeleton ships are a joke right now. They barely shot, the aim's been nerfed as well as the cursed cannon balls, they even crash among them.

agree. I like the difficulty of solo slooping.
imo they should increase the difficulty even more. it's a great challenge.

If you have a Skellie Galleon spawn on you go with the wind and you can get away pretty easily. Also, firebomb them. Skelly ships don't shoot when they're on fire.
This doesn't really help, as skellie ships don't rely on the wind...they go faster against the wind as any other player ship can...
@captaingarlic12
Sir without wanting to offend u i write this comment.
I think u need more xp and change your tactics on this.
I solo slooped 500 skellies ships for my legend cannons.
I did this with a start up sloop and no extra supplies and went to sink the fleet over and over again. Even done it in the DR with active vulcano. So that being said because my XP dont help u at all ofcourse. Here some tips:
If u sail in a certain way the skelly ships (gally or sloop it dont matter) can NOT attack u. Only the sniper can still shoot u but just eat and dont die. Also u dont need any cannonballs (just 1 to make it count as a sink)So here we go! (long read but it will help u)
When ever a ship spawn u turn your wheel INTO them. So ship spawn left? U crank your wheel fully left. U will crash in and have a hole (KEEP 1 hole in YOUR ship so it fill with water).
Now u only sail on your sails! U need speed? drop sails, u need slower? raise sails. U do this to keep stuck to the skelly ship. All u do now is take a bucket and trow your water ON there ship, not against it but ON. skelly cant bail and it will sink. Not sure if u trow water on or against ship? Try it on your own ship and listen. The sound of these 2 is diffrent.

As an experienced sailor myself, I already knew most of what you mentioned, but not this - the difference in sounds (my hearing's not so good). Boy, am I learning a lot in this thread...
Thanks! 😅

They only spawn on Sloops in the fleet battles. Get out of the fleet area faster going with the wind.

Hiya!
So I solo sloop a lot and thought maybe i could help a little with some advice!
I have had skelle gally spawn on me recently...I keep seeing people say thats not a thing but maybe it was a glitch! Anyway!
Typically if a skelly sloop spawns on you unload about ten or so cannonballs into them and your good! If you sail straight it makes it easy to aim and hit them and recently I've noticed they are terrible with fixing and tend to sink rather quick.
If a gally shows up..DONT SAIL STRAIGHT OR STOP. They will sail beside you and pummel you with cursed cannonballs and such till you sink. Instead try figure 8s. Or sail in circles instead. This causes them to keep needing to redirect or they end up hovering behind you giving you ample time to repair, put out fires etc while also giving you time to get hits on them. This "you hit me then I hit you" type fighting will yield you a win cuz they cant bail and you can! In the event they keep hovering behind you that's why I said figure 8. Sail in circles till they get stuck in a loop behind you, then crank the wheel the other way and start making circles in the opposite direction!
In the event of "double gally" like in the fleet...rocks are your friend. Hide by them, sail near them, harpoon around them etc. The gallys will chase you full speed not worrying about the rocks and will slam into them, doing damage to themselves and possibly splitting them up. The fleet right now uses fire, not cursed cannonballs so you will have less struggle with sleeping while your boat sinks etc fire takes FOREVERRRRR to hurt your boat so dont freak out! Let it burn, get your plan, sail around that rock, start your figure 8 etc THEN put the fire out. It's not a priority. Eventually if they hit enough rocks, slam into each other etc you win!
And of course. As pithyrumble said...fire is your friend! Burn them! If you set them on fire they wont shoot you cuz..their dead lol
