I think it would be nice to have some basic way to keep some of the supplies you have from session to session. Maybe a personal chest that can hold left over supplies or an entire "garage" that can store your ship as it was when you parked it (holes and all).
It would really help when a play session gets cut short and you spent an hour or so gathering supplies.
you would still loss all your stuff if you are sunk or log off without storing anything away. The supplies would also still need to be gathered in the first place and would not replenish.
If you could dock your ship in a "garage" between sessions you could start to count the voyages and sessions you had with a single ship without sinking.
