So sick of other players!

  • Ok I love the game, but I hate the players that go around farming everyone's items! We worked hard to get things and all the sudden a ship just appeared while we were cashing our items out and people came and killed us and stole our stuff and KEPT killing us each time we went through the gate! If you people do not change the way this game is played my teammates and I are done playing. Actually we are done playing until it gets fixed and if it doesn't then that's more players you guys lost! I know there are others like us that just want to play the game and enjoy the graphics without other D-bags farming everyone's hard earned treasure! Screw them and screw this game!

  • @scarletred86 were you watching the horizon before you docked?

  • I'm not sure where to begin with this one. First off, everyone, and I mean literally everyone playing this game has been screwed over in some way or another at some point in SoT. It happens, it's just part of the game. There's going to be people trying to steal your loot and that's something you can either get used to, or move on.

Sea of Thieves is a game where you need to keep your head on a swivel. If you're not paying attention there's a good chance you're going to get sunk, or get robbed. If it requires one of your crew to be a "lookout" then that's what it takes.

This game would not be what it is today if it was simply sailing around doing quests and cashing in without some level of threat. Megs, Krakens, Skeleton Ships and Storms are not true "threats" like a ship full of other players.

The bottom line is, sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Keep your head up and keep paying attention to the seas around you, they are unforgiving.

  • @squaz05 yes my one teammate was steering and I was watching the whole island. As soon as I turned around from selling an item a ship just appeared out of nowhere and the people there kept killing us and stayed on our ship waiting for us to come back just to keep killing us

  • @daddy-sanctus yeah but it is not part of the game to not let the other players play and to log out and log back in to check each island for people to steal from. That is NOT the way the game is to be played. And to keep killing people as soon as they respawn is not fair to the other players as well!

a ship just appeared out of nowhere

    Nope, don't believe you.

One of you didn't do your job.

  • @scarletred86

If you were watching only the island, then of course you didn't see it coming. And if you were watching for ships as well, then you need to not turn your back for as long. Ships don't appear out of nowhere. They appear from behind islands, within storms, partially beneath waves and over the horizon. As for spawn-camping, they were likely selling what you had, draining your ship of resources and then selling their own treasure. This is what the scuttle tool is for - if you are beat and cannot take back your ship, scuttle it and you will have it once more. PvP is a legitimate playstyle, and using it doesn't make them 'D-bags' or rude in any way, they were using what was available to them for further gain on top of what they likely already had. I've been on both sides of the battle where a ship sinks another to ensure a safe place to sell treasure, and it's never people just trying to ruin others' day. If someone is being rude with derogatory speech or similar, then you are free to report them - that is against the rules, however pirating others' treasures is not.

  • @squaz05 yeah ok whatever. I know what I seen. The ship absolutely was not there 1 second and then was there the next. I'm done responding. I'm done with the game anyway

    A couple of things:

    1. this is a game all about piracy, so you have to expect that some crews will try to raid you. You win some, you lose some. Ultimately, this is a feature of the game, as much as I don't like how some people behave some of the time.
    2. Before you stop at an outpost to cash in, you should patrol the area- circle the island, use your spyglass/eye of reach scope and make sure there are no other parties nearby before docking. If you didn't bother to do a little reconnaissance it's nobody's fault but yours for what happened.
    3. If you don't want a fight and you discover another ship nearby, simply head for another outpost. Or if you're spoiling for a fight yourself, bait them into trying to raid you and turn the tables on them- fight back and/or have someone in your group steal their stuff instead.

Basically, this is a game about piracy. If you have treasure, treat every ship and crew as potentially hostile. If you don't want a fight then avoid them. Another option even is to use the speaking trumpet to call out to the other crew and perhaps ask if they want to team up. Sometimes this actually works. |But the big takeaway here is always remain aware of your surroundings. You should never have a problem with people stealing your stuff and being jerks if you just keep an eye out.

  • @scarletred86 May I ask how long you've been playing? If you log in, the game is going to place your ship in a location that isn't in the immediate vicinity of other players. There may be a ship in sight or on the horizon, but you're not going log in and be loaded onto Plunder Outpost while another crew is offloading their goods. For them to keep killing you over and over isn't great, but if that's what they need to do in order to take all your loot, then that's what they need to do. You only have two options at that point, fight back and win, or scuttle your own ship.

This basically comes down to your crew not being aware of your surroundings and someone got the jump on you. It happens, it's happened to my crew plenty of times. Heck, it just happened a few nights ago and we lost an entire skull fort of loot.

While I feel your pain, there's really not a lot to be said besides "pay more attention."

I think sometimes people look at the scuttle option and im like "I dont wanna sink my own ship?" But they need to realize this basically just moves your ship somewhere else. Yes, you will lose treasure if you left any on board, but it is a very quick and easy solution to people giving you a hard time.

  • @tahngarthor Yeah for sure, I agree. Heck my own crew and I NEVER scuttle our ship. We will fight until the bitter end if we have to until the other crew sinks us. So I certainly see how a lot of people may not want to use that option, especially if there's even a sliver of chance of saving the ship or saving some of the loot.

  • What??? Someone stole your treasure in a pirate game?!?!? HOW DARE THEY! Give me their gamertags and I'll ban them, Joe Neate is my uncle.

You're seriously complaining about pirates pirating in a pirate game?

I mean, if you're getting thrills and tension and such out of the experience obviously you're not going to do it, but its there for the people who are more feeling trapped and frustrated.

Pirates pirating pirates in a pirate game featuring piracy being done pirateingly.

  • @scarletred86 said in So sick of other players!:

@squaz05 yeah ok whatever. I know what I seen. The ship absolutely was not there 1 second and then was there the next.

    Damn hyper drive.

@ScarletRED86 Feel free to show us a clip of the ship blinking into existence WITH a full crew compliment, or I'll be forced to just shrug my shoulders and say "meh..." Of course, if you actually do provide a clip, we can tell you what you or your crew did wrong and properly explain how they actually may have gotten the jump on you.

As was already said, you were simply outplayed by another crew of superior skill. While it may seem like it sometimes, ships don't just blink into existence unless it's a pirate just setting sail - and when that happens, the crew spawns in the tavern; not on their ship.

Earlier today, I soloed a sloop decked out with 6 gifts, 2 full collector's chests, 2 additional skulls, and 1 trinket. As I was mopping up a shipwreck, I spotted a brigantine sailing towards me. I quickly loaded up on a full compliment of supplies - including ammo, firebombs, and pineapples and then set sail towards Plunder Outpost, away from my pursuers with the hope of performing a few drive-by drop-offs. Sadly, the wind was in their favor, so they caught up quickly. I was forced to perform an anchor turn just outside of harpoon range, to avoid them. I took a few hits and was even knocked off my own ship briefly, but I was able to avoid direct contact due to the brigantine's poor turning ability. I was able to continue this with 2 of my 3 drop-offs. On my 3rd, they wisenened up and got to the island before I did and were waiting. As I engaged them, they learned very quickly that they were outmatched. I still relish the words coming out of the 3rd pirate, as he died: "hey, this guy's really good. He knows what he's doing." The brigantine fled the outpost moments later.

So skill, experience, and yes - even a little bit of luck can go a long way. Looking back on the encounter, they could've easily won, had they known what they were doing. They could've engaged me 3 to 1 at the same time instead of 1 at a time; they could've engaged me 2 to 1 with their 3rd hitting me with their cannons from their ship or turning in my loot while I was occupied. But they didn't, and that's on them.

Learn from your experiences; don't run from them. Accept that you will inevitably lose to those better than you.

    C'est la vie. 🤷‍♂️

    Star Wars! Whoo! 😍

  • @scarletred86 That is literally one of the main points of the game. It is the pirate life, it is ruthless, adventurous, and exciting! I agree it can be annoying when you're on console and a PC galleon comes and takes your treasure that took five hours to collect, but you need to learn to forget about it, work on your combat, and learn from your mistakes.

  • @icewolf4789

There were exactly zero reasons to bring crossplay into this. If you're on a sloop, and a full crew galleon comes up without you noticing, you'll probably lose long regardless of platform.

  • @scarletred86 so why didn't you just scuttle ?

  • There are maybe six other ships in your server at a time.
It's a big map and you could sail for hours without seeing another soul.
But they are out there and you have to be on the lookout for them.

"They just came out of nowhere." This means someone failed to spot them.

There are techniques that you could employ to mitigate such negative outcomes, but your never going to learn them if you simply quit.

Death is meaningless, your boat is a loaner, your booty is easily replaced.

Don't take anything seriously and bring a thick skin.

  • @barnabas-seadog

There's only 5 others, actually. Sometimes the number can dwindle down to as few as one other ship and you may never realize. It's quite difficult to tell due to the amount of possible places for ships to be.

  • RARE NEEDS TO ADD VOTE TO KICK FROM CREW!!!

    They were pirates.
You were sailing in pirate infested water. Why so surprised you got attacked by pirates?

Complaining about it wont get your loot back nor will it get your skills better.

    The players done nothing wrong.
Seems like you are after a pve game.
You gotta treat other players like PVE, its a dangerous sea afterall.

  • @scarletred86 well i wil just leave this here, this is RARE’s stance on the things you just stated:

Be a good sport. Sea of Thieves is a pirate game, and stealth, stealing and battles are all part of the fun. All pirates on the seas accept that, but be a good sportsman in both victory and loss.

    Source: www.seaofthieves.com/code-of-conduct

  • Where do y'all find pvp encounters?

I rarely get bothered playing. (Between midnight and 4am est, USA)

  • @scarletred86 It's a pirate game and this is the 3rd time I've had to explain this pirates steal and fight. and either way if rare some how puts a stop to stealing and spawn camping or they don't they will loose players. If they "fix" it they will loose a lot of the pvp players. and if they don't "fix" it they will loose you and most likely more pve players.

  • @scarletred86 All right first of all they have probably killed over an over to keep you off the ship and even if it was just for giggles then you can just scuttle the ship you know that right?
But you probably didnt wanted to give up so you kept coming back to the ship to fight back so how can you blame them?
Just dont, sometimes you win sometimes you lose, dont act like a sour loser nothing wrong happned in your story youve just got defeated.

  • Troll/bait post yet again.. Shut this post down:

This is the 3rd profile I've seen today that has only 1 day played at sea.. with the same post story!

  • @scarletred86 sounds like another endorsement for a possible pve servers to be added to the game I feel like I have seen post like this before 🤔 seems a good number of people would not mind a pve servers take note rare take note

  • @tak225 dude this is just sad you are trying desperately to bring more people to your poor crusade XD get over it.

  • @faceyourdemon your welcome to ignore I have long stated this game needs options for how people wanna play phase 1 was optional cross play phase 2 although somewhat less important to me personally is pve servers I think the game should have them if you don't like what you see please ignore and the 2 things I mentioned seems to be the most requested features wanted in the game phase 1 is coming time for phase 2 to be worked on by rare
