Hidden island hangout spots

  • Little islands with a hidden entrance such as a cave in which to park your ship. May even have cannons

There are several and most importantly...every session the location of such islands is random.

    Therefore your hideout is hidden.

A cool place to hangout. Roleplay as a pirate crew in your own personal hidden island hideout.

Light the beacon inside to claim it, douse the flame as a rival crew to claim it off them.

Lighting the beacon inside grants a new exclusive colour for your ship lantern. Find all the islands and claim them all can unlock a hidden treasure which spawns at the sea dogs tavern, upon lighting the beacons along that obstacle course thingy.

Has to all be lit within a time limit so you have to run the course or have crew members wait at key points...kinda cheating but hey.

But the treasure is worth it.

Will promote capture and defending of these places to get the full lantern set to get the treasure.

There is a cooldown however to prevent farming of the treasure in peaceful cooperative sessions.

  • @daringclarky i always liked the idea of a private home hidden in a cave. although i dont think it should be on map, always thought it should work like the PL hideout, how you travel through a mysterious portal to get there. also i always thought it should be something that can be bought and customised. it would act as a gold sink.

especially since this game is all about customisation even though there isnt much customisation. i mean if you look at other games you are really able to personalise your stuff. like in warframe, your ship is unique, all experienced players have different ships that they have created as they play the game. i just wish we could do this in SOT. while if they did add better ship customisation into the game, like different exterior appearances/interior appearances, that would be cool, but the ships just arent big enough imo.

  • @d4m0r3d I had a similar idea a out a seperate worldspace hideout.
However i had a thought, how cool would it be to actually defend it.

Basically like how the skeletons defend their fort, pirates defend their hideout.

Some incentive in there maybe to attain them and they're all hidden off the map and randomised in location each session.

Will cause ships to search for them and of course this will lead to conflict.

  • @daringclarky I like your passion to see more creative things in the game, this is actually sounds great.
When people read hideout they think about a safe zone that no one can hurt each other which is horrible in Sea of Thieves but its not, what you are talking about is a place to hold and at times defend but its not actually yours and they would be random sounds great i hope Rare see that one.

As for a real hideout it cant be a physical place in the world and the problem with places like the legendary hideout is that if players will go there your server will feel empty sometimes because they are still in the server so the right solution for this is a place that you can go there only through the main menu and it would be a large outpost with many activities and other then you and your crew you will meet other random crews just hanging around and like the the normal game they will have random server system.
Youll be able to buy your own hideout and even decorate it from the new decoration shop with limited time things for it too.

  • @faceyourdemon

    Thank you.

    Thats a good point.

For the hideouts that are hidden in adventure...
The fact its hidden and random each session can give you a false sense of security that you are safe and that its yours.

You could interact with special decorative containers that let you mount trophy fish on the wall and decorate it up with your gems and skulls and really lay claim to it...

But then theres a chance a passing ships spots it, or they dont.

Depending how server merging and such works, i could see myself dropping off my loot at my hideout and heading back to basically decorate it and show off instead of cashing in. 😊😊

In all honesty, i do that now.
I usually park in the top left island inside the bay and pretend its my own little getaway.

  • @daringclarky Hahahaha nice Thieves Haven is a good place to hide your ship.
I just really enjoy sometimes to explore the islands in the world and their story.

  • @daringclarky yea for that kind of defence kinda thing i thought up a new kind of fort, only its on the back of a giant turtle. the way it works is, you get on the turtle and instead of fighting waves to get a key, you active the gate but it takes a while to open, as if it needs to charge or use the turtles energy, wich then makes the turtle vulnerable. this would then spawn megalodons and sharks that you have to kill in order to protect the turtle long enough for the gate to open. and if you fail, the turtle dies and you get turtle meat but you dont get the fort loot.

  • @faceyourdemon yea they can just make the hideout, out of server. just like the sea dog tavern. we see it in game, but when people enter it they enter another server.

a large outpost with many activities and other then you and your crew you will meet other random crews just hanging around and like the the normal game they will have random server system.
Youll be able to buy your own hideout and even decorate it from the new decoration shop with limited time things for it too.

    i like this idea too

  • @d4m0r3d Yeah thats what ive said we can get there from the menu otherwise it would ruin the balance of players count in a servers thats why i think that minigames should only be there because in adventure if you give players too many side things to mess around with you wont see them in the seas.
But dont get me wrong i want to see more features in adventure mode.

  • @faceyourdemon im saying if hideouts were on server, they would ruin the amount of people on the seas. because they would take up a server slot and would be busy in their home base. if the home base was off server then you would be in there, but you wouldnt be removing a ship from a server, because you arent taking up a server space, untill you actually decide to leave your home base, in wich then you will join a server

  • @d4m0r3d Yeah fully agree with you its my point aswell that we dont want players to just stay in their hidout and take a slot and that wont be good.
Starting the game from a hideout was already explained by the devs that it would make the loading screens longer.

  • @d4m0r3d Perhaps when they can increase server population it would be good to introduce these places then?

  • @faceyourdemon well aslong as they let you start the game the regular way i dont see why it would matter if it takes longer to load into a server from your personal hideout. cause then it would be a personal decision. also i wonder how that would work, would it be faster to just leave your hideout then start a server the regular way or, just start from in your personal hideout. im not an xbox player so idk how bad the loading screens are or would be. but im sure it would be fine for all us pc players, although its still not a good idea to add something that makes an xbox player spend 10 mins in a loading screen. but yea i dont know why it would take any longer than normal anyways. and if it was bad, players could just leave and then join the normal way
