Ramsey was not always a pirate lord, infact he never was because he is a fraud. The true pirate lord was a woman known as Belle once a legend of the deep. She commanded a mighty fleet of ships that sailed into the sea of thieves long before Ramsey was even born! She created settlements and brokered peace with her people and the merfolk. She eventually met and trained Ramsey teaching him everything he knows including the pirate code.
One day Ramsey let his greed get the better of him and to show off his glory took gold and treasures out of the sea of thieves and into the larger world. this posed a major problem for the sea of thieves. For the gold was once cursed by the ancients and is the very cause of the skeleton curse. Belle always sought to watch over the sea of thieves but Ramsey had different goals in mind. He wanted the gold but more importantly he wanted the glory! he betrayed Belle, making it impossible for her to return to the world of the living. Alone she floats on a buoy in the sea of the damned, holding the flame of fate.
Once Ramseys crew learned of his crimes, he stabbed him in the back realizing he was to blame for their curse (his crew became skeleton lords)
Ramseys spirit lived on hiding away as a ghost. For he does not want the ferryman to keep him on the ferry. so he organizes thousands of pirates to do his bidding in an attempt to regain his power.
Meanwhile Belle uses her arcane knowledge to use what remains of her body (skeleton mostly) to do her bidding while her spirit is lost on the sea of the damned. she quickly realizes her form will scare folks. So she puts on an old robe and finds a mask to hide her skeletal face... from there she is merely a stranger with a mask. on a mission to bring those that deified death into the sea of the damned. she calls herself the reaper, pledging to undo the evils that have been done. so realizing the spirit of flameheart still resides in the sea of thieves trapped in his body she hatches a plan to resurrect him, simply with the hope of undoing his evil and sending him to the sea of the damned where he belongs. But as she could not do it herself she got her friend Jim to recruit pirates to do her bidding for her. If it works she plans on doing the same to the other skeleton lords and eventually the false pirate lord himself!
Knowing someday his children will stand in her way, she sends her only daughter Armanta. Who despises Ramseys children for they inherited what was rightfully hers.
........also they met a trader named Falcore who said he likes easter eggs very much and hopes to get one someday..
so that's my theory on Belle what a lovely tale.
