What's with the sudden fps drops?

    I've been on break from the game for a few months, just before Arena dropped. At the time, I could run the game on Legendary at a smooth 60 fps, where my only problems was the occasional ping spike. Coming back now, and I'm swamped with these fps drops. Same hardware, everything up to date, yet I can one moment be at 60 fps, and the next, 3.

    I can't seem to fix this. Even dropping all settings to minimum, disabling Vsync, and locking in at 30 fps, a fps drop will yet every few seconds. It makes no difference what settings I play around with. At this point, I'm considering just uninstalling and waiting another few months.

    @ghost-of-rhyza there used to be a lag issue where you would see the seas pause then move in fast forward. Maybe due to a roll back cuz of the lag. I’ve noticed that doesn’t happen anymore and lag is introduced as stutter. When I get stutter in my FPS I hear other players even on XBOX complain about lag, so it must impact the frame times on PC. My FPS doesn’t drop, but it still stutters.

    @ghost-of-rhyza I don't have the best setup, 8GB DDR4, i5-7400, and a 3GB GTX 1060. But I can usually run SoT on Medium - Low settings and have a solid 80-100 fps.

    My game however, will have random "fits" where my FPS plummets to like 10 every 30 seconds or so. Restarting the game fixes the issue, but that can be a pain when you're in the middle of doing a quest or battling someone. Honestly not sure if the issue is on my end or Rare's end.

    @daddy-sanctus Similar setup. AMD FX 6300 six core, 8 Gigs ram, GTX 1060 3GB.

    Could run this game fine months ago where, again, only the occasional net issue was the problem. Now these fps drops are happening all the time.

    My frame counter stays at 60, but from time to time I can feel the drops. I think SoT and M.S. need to work on getting some monster servers.

    @ghost-of-rhyza Yeah its the game not your hardware.

    It got worse since the updates but improved slightly.

    Still not like it used to be tho
