Spawning at Random Islands!

  • Okay, this issue has been in the game for as long as I can remember. I'll die, or mermaid, and spawn at a random island or outpost instead of my ship. Sometimes I'll mermaid from the island, and spawn at the same island again. I was alright with this. Just a minor inconvenience. Today was the last straw. It happened to my entire crew at the same time, while we were getting attacked by two sloops at a fort of the damned. To give you an idea of why I'm very unhappy with this, here's why. Our ship had 6 Chests of Legends, 12 Reaper's Chests, a dumb amount of Stronghold Skulls and Stronghold Chests, God knows how many Stronghold Gunpowder Barrels, at least 10 Captain's Chest, at least 10 Marauder's Chests, at least 10 Rare Tea, at least 10 Skeleton Captain Skulls, at least 10 Skeleton Captain Chests, a really dumb amount of Mermaid Gems, etc. In our barrels we had a tooooooooon of cooked chicken, pork, meg, shark, snake, lots of different fish, and pineapples. Our cursed cannonball barrel was almost on another page. At least 60 firebombs. About 300 cannonballs and at least 200 wooden planks. Two sloops roll up on us. We sank one and immediately got lit up by the other one. Not a huge deal. Some how all of us die. I spawn at a random island. I mermaid, and spawn at the island again. I then get a long loading screen, and I'm finally back. I kill the guy that is on our ship. If I stop bailing, we will sink. As I'm bailing, the sloop is re-positioning to get more shots on us. I'm barely keeping up with the water. I could've stopped bailing if my friend didn't also spawn at an island. He finally gets back, but he has to also bail and I have to shoot cannons. AND while this is happening, my other two crew mates ALSO spawned at a different island, AND they are both on console so their loading time is shorter. We sank because of a bug. I have no problem when we sink due to a lack of communication or something that is genuinely our fault, but when we sink due to a bug that has been in the game since launch, it's an issue that I'm not happy with. I love this game, but sometimes I hate it.

The reason you sinking was such a big loss was because you cleared and looted the Fort of the Damned 6 times and didn't once stop to sell your rewards in all of that time. That big red skull going up and down like it's on a trampoline while no ships exit the fog is guaranteed to have multiple crews outside of it, waiting for the treasure ship to exit. You're lucky that only two sloops were waiting for you, chances are they'd already defended the fort from another crew or two who were also waiting for you. Yes, the bug is technically the reason you sunk, however the reason all of you died is certainly due to the 24 (might've been more) stronghold gunpowder barrels you had on board. You have to play it smart when you gather that much treasure. Take a journey off to sell the rewards every completion, or keep the treasure on a rowboat and send the ship ahead to clear out anyone awaiting your arrival. Yes, the bug needs fixing as well, though I'm not entirely sure if even Rare knows how or why it happens. I've had it only ever happen twice in all of my time playing, so you at least don't have to deal with it too often, but I do hope Rare manages to fix it at some point.

  • @ultmateragnarok Yeah, we were playing smart. We didn't lose absolutely everything and we didnt have any gunpowder barrels on board. They were never used on us and were always hidden on the island. They lit us up while we were trying to spawn. We sunk because of the bug. We sank them once or twice before hand already so we didnt think we'd have an issue until we started to not spawn at our ship. And we cleared 3 forts in that server because we were transferred from a different one. Plus we wanted to get all the loot and take an amazing screenshot. Again, it wasn't our fault and it was in fact the reason we sank. Trust me I'm the last person to say "We only sank from this glitch" or something like that. Either way, this bug needs to be fixed because it can be a life or death situation, which it was for me. My fate shouldn't rely on a bug that hasn't been fixed since launch.
