Hi, I'm just wondering how much the sails on Black Friday will be?
The Black Friday sails
I'm going to guess.
No one knows.
At the time I type this. In 45 minutes we will all know.
If we care to find out for ourselves through the normal channels... ie. the Microsoft Store. ( Go look/ maybe go purchase, at the right time )Drum roll........ 10 doubloons :)
As good as any guess at this moment
They look great with the Obsidian hull and ship cosmetics...

(All we need now, is an Obsidian capstan)

The price is ridiculous. Is this not available for ancient coins?
Oh well, time to dip into the Microsoft Rewards fund.
They make more money this way. They actually cost more than premium collector sails on the Emporium. It's even more so considering the sale on Ancient Coins at the moment.
Yeah I wouldn't call this a "black Friday sale" at this price which is the price for every "heritage" sail in the game.
Keep giving them the money, you'll keep getting ripped off.
All of these high price "cosmetics" are killing this game. when you can buy these instead of earning them in a cosmetic based game..... you reap what you sow.
7.99 euro. God I hate how the industry has gone this way and people buying this stuff in any game just furthers rows the boat out further. I have never bought a micro transaction in a game and continue to stick by that. Why not simply charge for an expansion where you get a ton of content for the price. That I can get behind. So they say well....we dont want to split the playerbase, ok then well I better be able to buy all of this stuff for the same price of an expansion then sooooo maybe 30 euro or so? nope....costs me that for a single ship set. absolute ripoff. The entire game is 60 and a ship set is 30? I mean really cosmetics should be 50 cents for me to be ok with them doing things this way. Love sea of thieves but hate that it has gone down this route.

Meaningful (i.e. non cosmetic) content is added to game regularly, at no cost above the original purchase price or game pass subscription fees. Far from "killing the game", these (not so) micro transactions will help to keep it alive!
Consider all that has been added to game since launch, at no extra cost to any of us:
- Megalodons
- Skeleton Ships
- The Devil's Roar
- The Arena
- All those Tall Tales
- Fishing and the Hunter's Call
- Extra cosmetics, musical instruments, and tools
- Rowboats, Harpoons, and Rowboats with Harpoons!
- Bilge Rat Adventures (Thrones, Mermaid Statues, etc)
- The Fort of the Damned
- Fog
...and, probably, other stuff that I can not think of right now. (EDIT: Like Fire!!!!)
I consider the Pirate Emporium as a way for those of us with some disposable income to support Rare, and the continued development and running of the game. It's actually a very progressive - almost socialist - model: Those who of us who choose to buy these cosmetic extras, and can afford to do so, benefit those that do not have the cash to splash.
Even spending what I have in the Pirate Emporium, and on these sails, Sea of Thieves has still cost me just a few cents per hour to play.
@surveyorpete I understand what your saying and I do half agree but the thing is sea of thieves only has cosmetics as rewards, It is not like world of warcraft where you get powerful upgrades in game but can choose to pay for cosmetics, Paying for cosmetics in sea of thieves when its only rewards for achievements IS cosmetics undermines the whole reward structure of the game. Also keep in mind I am not completely against micro transactions in sea of thieves for the reasons you just gave but I am against their prices. Also it doesn't help that they put way way more effort into the cosmetics that you pay for in comparison to the fairly bland ones you unlock ingame (bar a few exceptions) Like I can grind for a huge amount of hours to sink 500 skelle ships for a some pretty cool cannons or pay 30 euro for a really cool entire ship set. Why is the ship sets in the emporium so much more detailed than most in game unlocks? Its annoying. It proves they are saving the best stuff for those that cough up more cash as opposed to those that have thousands of hours in game but dont want to support microtransactions.
@terron29 At least they are sticking to cosmetic stuff only rather than being able to buy an advantage. And I much prefer this to the days we had to pay $10-15 a month to play a game that cost $50, and then had to pay for any expansions on top of it.

Wonder what the cost will turn to once Black Friday is over? I mean, using Ancient Coins as a template, how much are the emporium sales compared to these?
It won't turn to nothing. This sails will be only available during this weekend.

Why on Earth? That’s just stupid. What’s the cost of a set of sails from the emporium?
@kaloudz
Because it's a Black Friday special thing.Sails (premium) in the emporium cost 799 Ancient Coins, so it's pretty much the same.
@realstyli they give free updates and games on game pass
They gotta make money or it’s all pointless@surveyorpete said in The Black Friday sails:

This - 20 months of development post-release, for free, with 3 separate teams working on updates at a time.
Not cheap!
Get your hands in your pockets and put up or be quiet I say!

Are these available from the emporium for ancient coins or a cash/card only transaction today?
I have some spare coins to use.Only available to buy through the Microsoft/Xbox Store.
Is it just the sails? If it would be a whole set, I'd say maybe I'll buy...
Yes. It's for the Black Friday SALES. Sales/Sails? Geddit?
Although why the rest of the world should be adopting this uniquely American marketing ploy is beyond me. We don't have a Thanksgiving Day for such sales to follow. For Victorians, "Black Friday" refers to a particularly devastating day of bushfires that happened in 1939.
