I know there are a host of issues that need to be tackled before more pets can be added to the game..... but.... cats! Give us cats! Birds are okay, and monkeys are nice, but cats are where its at. This will probably get buried under more pressing matters, but I had to throw it out there again.
What happened to cats?
Yeah, I am definitely eager to have cats as a pet in the game. Ever since seeing the cat in the trailer, and the art work for cats in the SoT art books and such, I've been anticipating them.
I'm hoping they'll be coming early next year, but that is just a wild guess on my part. Could be longer than I'd like (it already is! lol). :DI suspect that they decided two pets, at launch of pets and the pirate emporium, was a good business plan (as well as design, coding, development in getting pets working right). Otherwise, they'd offer more variety that may compete with each other (which would compete with themselves, business-wise).
So, I can understand the business model of releasing the two main types of pets - adding in more sub-species within those types. And then, down the road, introducing more additional types. Cats will also have to work a little differently than either the birds or the monkeys.
Some could view that cynically, business-wise, but it makes sense in a number of ways.
Like I said, I really am eager for cats, so I'm not saying this out of disinterest.
I also expected more than two types (before getting in on the testing of them), but it does make sense for them to have started off with only birds and monkeys. They are also, after all, the most popular pirate pet companion types people would think of in pop culture pirate fantasy adventure type stuff.Hopefully we get our feline overlords in game soon though! :D
Ahoy maties!
