Barrels w/ supplies float up after ship sinks

  • I know this would be a proponent of pvp, which is controversial already. But i am always bummed when I lose all my supplies gathered when the ship sinks. I know there are crates to put supplies in, but if barrels floated up with all the supplies up after a ship sinks, that could greatly help ships restock and or crews get their supplies back after going back to the location. I've lost many a trophy fish this way :( would be same concept as the random barrels you see while sailing

  • If res. barrel float to the top, why would the crew that sunk you, not just take the res. an make the next fight harder.

dont get me wrong, I would love that all the res. float up in barrels after a ship is sunk.
but as pointed out, It will help the winning crew, rather than get the sunken crew back on there feet.

  • Again, I am against this Idea.

You want the supplies, board the ship and spawn camp like the rest of the pvp squad. Supplies are easy to come by. Just find a rowboat or two lol!

  • @pithyrumble why spawn camp if you could just sink them and have the barrels float up? whats wrong with this idea?

  • @greencamillion1 i think thats a good thing, if im in a fight and i sink you, i would like to recieve all the fish you had in those barrels. not like i could grab it all as a solo player, with an inventory space of 5.

  • If the sunk ship was yours - Reward for beign sunk? No.
It the sunk ship was sunk by you - You can stole the supplies before sunk your enemy. Just be fast or spawnkill them to stole. You can use a box like you already said.

  • @d4m0r3d

    What ^^^^ said.

Besides, someone could scuttle and go pick up all their supplies again or farm their supplies like that. Plus it incentivizes random killing for no loot. You want my supplies? Get aboard and spawn camp me before I scuttle. I'm probably gonna scuttle before you get aboard me anyway and you shouldn't get a reward for that 🤷🏽‍♀️🧜🏽‍♀️

  • @trashman1930 This would defeat the entire purpose of scuttling the ship to deny resources from the attacking ship.

    So no

  • @davidhawk1 the purpose of scuttling is not only for that, scuttling is mainly to stop players from spawn camping, players dont always spawn camp for supplies. sometimes players want to just show how dominant they are in combat. on the ferry of the damned i believe the note says. having trouble on the seas? scuttle your ship to spawn far away. so it is not only for denying resources.

  • @d4m0r3d You didn't read it all. But I also "said"
I would love that all the res. float up in barrels after a ship is sunk

But OP, is more focus on the losing side, where I just point out that it will be the winning side to pick apart the goodies that are left.

  • I think if your ship became a ship wreck after sinking that would be sweet. Even if it was generic ship wreck that appeared that would be alright.. but there would need to be a ship wreck for sloop and brig... actually can anybody tell me why they havnt made different ship type wrecks yet?

  • @greencamillion1 yea it just sounded like you were saying you didnt want it in the game because it rewards good crews. but a good thing about it, is that it keeps resources in circulation. also one thing i do at the moment is just before logging off i will put all my resources in a supply box, and either find another ship to give it to or leave it on the docs of an outpost. i started doing this after i found a supply box at an outpost that was full of supplies

  • @greencamillion1 should a crew not be rewarded for winning a fight? also gives the surviving crew reason to go back if they know all their fish and etc is still up for grabs rather than lost. I'll say i agree no need for hundreds of planks, cannonballs etc to float up but the non-fighting items would be nice

  • @pithyrumble if you are willing to scuttle and go pick up supplies (45 cannonballs, ~20 planks, 15 bananas max..) you're wasting your time in my opinion. Especially considering loading times after ship scuttles and not knowing where on the map you'll respawn

  • @davidhawk1 i've never scuttled to avoid a ship stealing my resources. At that point the battle is already over. Scuttling is to avoid griefing, not much more

  • @trashman1930
    I'M not willing to...
But I am willing to scuttle since it denies the aggressor resources that will make it quicker and easier to come bother me again. (I don't like pvp 《cause I'm bad at it, sail solo and it gives me anxiety issues》) I will waste your time by making you chase me to the red if need be.
Your time will be wasted sinking me because you either won't get resources/loot, or I make you waste 30 minutes to an hour chasing me by sailing off the map.

Not having those resources show up for you to quickly go bother another crew will also cut down on Private/PVE only server requests because you won't be bothering the pve squad as often

  • we definitely don't need to give pvp players another reason or excuse to attack players.

as it is, their attack is a gamble, they may get loot, they may get nothing ... a change like this would assure that they always get something.

    no thanks.

  • @trashman1930 yes they should, but you said "But i am always bummed when I lose all my supplies gathered when the ship sinks."

An I just point out that most likely you will end out with nothing because the winning crew will take everything of value.

  • I like this idea.

Makes sense from an immersion perspective.

Makes sense for the added rewards of sinking a ship in battle.

It also could decrease some spawn camping, because, why not just sink the ship to get the loot and supplies rather than spawn camping the nearly sunken ship while harvesting supplies?!

I also like the possibility of being able to find my previously sunken ship and getting some of what I had lost; whether by battle, loss to pve or by my carelessly crashing into a rock.

It could even be programmed to not float supplies after the scuttle option was used to address such concerns and maintain the purpose of scuttling.

It would also be nice for the Skelly ships to float their supplies after being sunk. Sometimes supplies are more valuable than treasure!
