Rare can you please for the love of god give us the ability to vote afk pirates off the crew. I know its not added to avoid bullying & toxicity. Not allowing it is also toxic especially when these pirates make our work harder with absolutely no consequence. Literally this is a everyday occurrence even though i try my utmost to not invite these types in the first place. Im a PL10 i recently spent an entire day trading athenas in exchange for other players ships to create my alliance. I was able to obtain 5 boats, 5 crews all in the alliance working together to farm fotd it was going so smooth & fast, we were taking turns loading each boat & helping all players get their legendary thief commendation. We were clearing fotd in 17 mins back to back consecutively. Until one afk leech was added when a player left. The afk pirate then proceeds to change all lanterns on all ships, hides all our food storage crates we spent hours stocking, fire bombs our boats, & sets boat fires by burning fruit on the stove. In a 16 player alliance it took us awhile to identify the troll. Once we did we brigged him but alot of damage was done & he slowed our progress by quite a bit of time. He then proceeds to AFK in the brig getting rich off our collaberative earnings, all the while calling us his slaves & there literally isnt a thing we can do about it. Please please address this. If the majority of a crew want a bad deckhand off our ship we should be able to vote that bad apple off the ship, he should then be forced to walk the plank, after this he should be sent to a separate outpost holding cell. Where he can get paid for either the loot that was stashed before he was voted off the plank or for the entirety of the actual voyage that was in progress. After this he is removed from crew entirely & will not hold up progress, wont cause good crews to disband & most importantly wont get rich off of others pirates labor. Doing it this way players wont be able to kick a player & cost him precious time & his fare share of the earnings for the work he has done....It will also prevent newly aquired bad crew members from taking a pre existing crew & ship hostage & forcing them to play, with one gun down, until they decide theyve had enough. Making them quit & throw their well stocked ship away. Joe neate always says this game is about bringing people together. If that were truly the inspiration than surely you can understand how one bad crew mate, can cause you to lose time. Loot. PvP scenarios etc......without us having any real way to combat or mitigate this. One AFK pirate slips on to a strong crew & whoops there goes the neighborhood, no crew, no ship, no fun, everyone gets tilted & leaves with a bad taste in thier mouth. The good players will likely not actually befriend & add one another when the session wraps up because it was ended prematurely & unfairly
AFK Leeches
@needsmokes i know this is a forum & we can agree to disagree. The AFK pirates have been rampant, abundant & a constant source of toxicity. Weve already tried the current method & we KNOW the levels of bad players the current system promotes. What ive offered is an actual relevant suggestion. That would solve a major problem. The solution youve offered will equate to the same exact problems still occuring, a player would be warned, he could then go kill a skeleton & be free to AFK once again. Your solution also didnt mention how to combat trolls who are out for sabotage. My solution the bad player still gets paid for his first round of trolling & afk play. Then he is gone so the crews can actually get on with the task at hand. If you dont have any well thought out ideas/solutions that could actually be implemented for a better quality of life on the seas. Then please keep your opinions off my thread........we KNOW the current crew management system is 100% broken. Lets test out different mechanics & evaluate which one causes less grief. Anyone in favor of the current system must be one of the AFK leeches......Majoriy rules in my opinion if the majority of a crew wants YOU gone than id be willing to bet 98% of the time YOU are the problem.

Only thing that can foil this alliance is afk pirates. I guess 15 other players who can get along & work together for a singular cause are privledgeless & the rights of one terrible crewmate who wants to cash in for spinning in circles & sabotage progress, supercedes anything the collective majority decideds on. On a more positive note check out all those day 1 eyepatches

For a person you call an AFK he was quite active.Your grinding PVE server was infiltrated, there is absolutely no reason to give trolls the opportunity to kick a player who has been active just so they can have their friend to join and reap the benefits.
The person in question is only guilty of betraying his own crew - if his crew wasn't in on it - no matter the number of day-one-eye patches that are in the alliance.
I'd be down for a vote to kick system, with one addition to your idea.
Yes, they get the loot and rep for treasure already on board when voting to kick, but they also get the loot and rep for the currently active quest. This would help with @Lem0n-Curry thought, that a crew could kick a random useful player, just to invite a friend 2 missions before finishing an athena. This way, the kicked player cannot be exploited/trolled.You could maybe apply the same to pve events: If pve music was playing (fort, meg, kraken, fleet) when the vote occured, the kicked pirate also gets the pve loot recovered after the event. This again removes any 'hard done by' feeling the kicked player may feel.
This tradeoff allows for removal of anyone, without them losing loot and rep. It also allows the crew to move along without becoming bitter.
Of course, things like timeframes would need to be thought about. If you dont finish the quest for 4 hours after kicking, do they still get the payout? Also, how many players could you invite and kick to hand out free loot to all your friends? Possible exploit?
Also, would loot and rep pop up (for the kicked pirate) if they are offline when u sell?
Tldr:
This could work well with no one being punished too much. Just a few grey areas to clarify first 👍@lem0n-curry he was only active for as long as it took us to discover the troll & brig him, after that he spun in circles for 10hrs holding up a spot for someone who actually wanted to work for their loot & commendations. I could honestly care less about your assessment of the situation. The AFK pirate has been removed, the alliance is still going strong after 72hrs, server isnt adding any fresh ships & now we have only validated members being rotated into the alliance. This thread was created to foster ideas to improve quality of life for good crews, this will be the last time i reply to baiters such as yourself. Please try to keep comments constructive.
@pomalotacusmk3 That was my thoughts exactly. The AFK pirate still earns loot for what he was apart of nothing ill or unjust is done towards him. There is absolutely no justifiable reason to make an entire crew suffer one intolerable crewmate for endless amounts of time. If i can join your crew act like a nutjob off his medication & still make alot of loot after my attempts at sabotage fail & there is absolutely nothing to counter act this. Then youre fostering a enviroment for low lives who just want other people to play the game for them. Its not even something i get irritated about at this point. Because im maxed out across the spectrum. I normally just lock these types in the brig throw athenas over board & have my team switch servers but in this instance we were helping alot of people get commendations. It would be a shame to ditch 6 fully stocked ships & crews in order to thwart one AfK leech.
@admiral-greyjoy
Yea i try to troll right back at them.
We left the outpost light on supplies. 2 crew went to an island while i kept steering. Anchored on some barrels and harpooned the first one. As soon as i dismounted the harpoon, our random 4th released the barrel, and proceeded to grab and release the remaining barrels, auto sinking them. He stopped talking and started fishing. We crashed and filled the bottom deck, brigged and drowned him, ate all the fruit and fired all the cannonballs. Left server and went brig. He started raging as soon as he respawned. Good times😁
But yeah, 5 ship alliance kinda different story.

Firstly, calling me a baiter ? Your solution will create more issues than it solves and therefor I am the baiter ?
Think about the person who joins a brigantine with two trolls who kick him after doing fort(s) or Athena(s) who will gain neither rep nor gold for his afternoon or evening session. Compare that with your situation that took some profit away but you all gained a lot anyway (plus a sunday-who-dunnit free of charge) (spoiler: it was the one with the standard light ;))
Besides, if you could have kicked him after you found out, it still would have cost you the crates. Oh and 10 minutes to get all the lights again (if the lightning one wasn't in possession of one of the alliance members), assuming he didn't kill all the sharks in the sea as well.
Also, exaggeration doesn't help - while I agree it can take considerable time to get a server with 5 ships, but taking an entire day ? Hours spending filling food crates ? Did you give every crew member his or her own fruit bowl ? Or were they filled with the biggest & nicest fish ?
Anyway, got a question. Besides the gold & commendation it got you all, is doing the FotD again and again without opposition enjoyable ? I've done the FotD now a bit more than ten times, most in a 3 ship alliance, but the fun things for me were the 2 boat alliance who ran interference (and sunk two galleons) and the threat of the brig and sloop nearby while in a two-sloop alliance (with the alliance member trying to keg us when we had most of the loot on board).
Im gonna try to address your mess of a post the best way i can. If you actually read my posts objectively you would know, i am trying to cultivate a actual think tank here in order to try to mitigate the problems many pirates face with these AFK types.
The forums have been rampant with this topic since the beginning of the forums, (after launch of course not insider forums) if you actually followed the forums, us as a community actually fight for whats right & the wonderful devs usually oblige us the community in the long run. You know the whole we support them, so they support us thing. Even if it is with reluctance & procrastination occasionally. We the people stay adamant about whats right.
You seem to be trying to twist & distort the narrative in order to make your points (which are actually irrelevant) since the point's you're making are not anywhere near congruent with my actual suggestion.
I am offering suggestions how the AFK pirate can be kicked & still get paid. You may have missed all that because it didnt fit into your close minded viewpoints. Therefore your hypothetical "good guy gets kicked so my friends can get paid" point is just way off base & out of touch with anything i have suggested, might i also suggest for yourself, hooked on phonics, so we can get your reading comprehension up to par. This way our disagreement actually sticks to the script & new ideas can blossom. Rather than this apples vs tomatoes go nowhere conversation we are having now. You then say "exaggerating doesnt help" oh jeez what a solid point. Then follow this up with a exaggeration far more outlandish than anything ive said whatsoever. All lights in 10 mins really? It takes me more than 10 mins to sail to the storm, oh well maybe the wind gods favor you much more than myself. Anyone who actually plays this game knows hours fly by when youre having fun & very little can actually be achieved in "10 mins" my timeframe guesstimation is far more accurate to the fact, then some 10min sea of thieves fairy tale. The multiple fruit crates we had full to the brim on top of fotd, took awhile to find & aquire, maybe you find multiple fruit crates on your very first island but in my experiences that usually isnt very status quo. We have to have enough supplies on the ships to replenish all the crates once they are empty. Again we are in it for the long haul so we prepare accordingly. While one ship is selling fotd loot, the rest are farming it, so we need fruit in order to keep players whose spawn ship is at plunder outpost, alive. Our ships have to have 500 of everything, so stocking 5 ships & 5 crates isnt some 10 min ordeal despite what you like to make believe. A mischief maker takes our time away from our objective goals. Youve never had a hard time finding a shark? Again the dream servers you play on & actual reality seems to be somewhat distorted. I cant just jump off my boat & get eaten by a shark in no time flat, what do you do chum the waters? As far as your question regarding what we find fun about it? Im not sure why thats relevant at all, we are having fun, we are out to help one another, we arent hurting anyone. So whats your major problem with people from diffrent countries & timezones keeping an alliance alive?
We enjoy helping each other get commendations, we enjoy being highly efficient in this, we get a little kick logging off & getting back on 12hrs later, day after day, & seeing the alliances we made & friends weve brought together going strong. Most IMPORTANTLY we would never kick a good helpful player for "one of our friends" because after youve played with us & been a good helpful player. Chances are you too are now one of our friends. 16 players cannot keep an alliance going this long (its on its 4th day now, servers are getting laggy, party chat keeps disconnecting) its been about 48 of us, all together. Rotating one another back in after sessions complete. We are all now friends. Weve even started our own personal discord. If you dont understand whats fun about playing with friends. Then thats something for you to work out, not something myself & 48 others need to explain.
At the very LEAST turn these brigged AFK players names from green to white so we can kill them. Let me guess this would somehow be more game breaking then the circle spinners too. Lets just let our discourse die here & now before Lady Aijou bans me again. I actually wanna keep my forum rep this time around everyones got cool titles now except me & im jealous.
Seriously, two trolls can scuttle a brigantine if you are locked in the brig (jail) am i not part of the crew? My vote no longer counts? But their names dont turn from green to white so i cant help my actual teamates who arent my crewmates on the boat. Once again a valid point as to why this system is actually broken. How much thought went into this?
