@kevininnyc
You sound like someone desperate to preserve their pool of victims.
Funny, this isn't the first time someone has generalized me because of my stance on an argument. It happened earlier in this thread, in fact, and I pointed out that I'm not even one of the PvP players. I prefer to meet people out on the Sea of Thieves rather than see how differently they react to various balls of iron, but even I, as a PvE player, know how badly a PvE only server would ruin the game for some people. And you don't want the game irreversibly ruined for people, do you? At least you can learn to enjoy it from your position, like many before you have, and many after you will.
Let me explain: You're supposed to be gathering your own loot. You're not supposed to count on others to get ahead. PVP is for when you both arrive at the shipwreck at the same time, etc.
PvP is for whenever players want to start it. You can do whatever you want to in the Sea of Thieves, but other players, or even PvE elements, may try to stop you. It's often unintentionally, there's no general code for telling who's a PvP player and who's a PvE player, and the lines between them are often blurred anyways. You have to deal with players trying to mess with you, and drive them off. Whether that's from you scuttling every time they get close, running for hours on end, or repeatedly besting them in combat is your choice. Players can get ahead however they want to, some even rely on others by making 6 ship alliances to farm only PvE. They've made a PvE server themselves by putting the work in, why can't you put the work in to avoid the other ships you're complaining about?
The PVE players in no way acknowledge your right to take our treasure, especially in a bullying 4-on-1 configuration. We feel the same way that honest, hard-working people feel IRL when they get robbed. We can't believe it's allowable in the game. We consider it a grave defect in an otherwise excellent game with unique properties, one that should be remedied immediately.
You accepted that other players may attack you the moment you bought a pirate-themed game marketed as a PvEvP game. You can't have expected to be able to dig up chests all day, with no threat of anything attacking you in a multiplayer game. Other people are going to try to attack you sometimes, or even just go over and try to be nice to you, and you have to deal with it. You're arguing about how PvP players are ruining the fun for PvE players, despite the countless PvE players who've dealt with it for months or even nearing multiple years, for a few, but you aren't considering that your suggestions will instead ruin the fun for the PvP players instead, as they want to have some reward for winning a battle. The treasure you're carrying, as well as the resources on board your ship, are just that.
Some PVP type will suggest I play another game. No thanks, I would rather pressure the developers, using the voluminous numbers of PVE advocates (are we the majority? Could be...) and repeated requests for PVE servers.
You aren't the majority. Sure, the number of PvE players is likely higher than the number of PvP players, but the vast majority of them are out on the seas enjoying themselves after learning how to either avoid or defend themselves against other ships. The players clamoring for PvE servers are a minority. A loud minority, yes, but a minority nonetheless. You don't see every one (or even half of) the several million players of this game asking alongside you, do you? As @KnotSoEasyTV said earlier, "One or two men can't fight a battle" on the forums. I don't see any majority here, I just see you claiming people as allies and enemies to you from your perspective, while people from both of those sides attempt to tell you why your idea doesn't work.
