Please give us a PvE mode.

  • First off I just wanna say this game is amazing. Me and my friend love playing it. But the aspect of no escape from players is a big turn off. This game has two PvP Modes. Adventure, and Arena. Why can't their be a PvE section with its own server and progress Called "Free Roam". I believe that the PvP and PvE should be separate from PvP Servers and progress. I would happily start over and or buy a DLC that gives us a PvE mode. As someone who bought Sea Of Thieves and is not playing it threw the Xbox game pass. As someone who spend their time playing solo/duo and running into a group of 4 that know nothing but PvP and stealing they will always win. Me and my friend have no experince in PvP and have no interest in it.

Note- This thread is not for people to be mean and rude. If you have something rude to say about a PvE mode you are scared that everyone will not play the PvP mode and the PvE servers will be filled. But no matter what you will have people that want to battle and you will have people that just want to set sail and relax, Maybe fight a Megalodon or a ghost ship.

This game is one of a kind. Their is no game like it on the market to date. So my friend and I are stuck playing a game that we want to play but get upset every time we spend a X amount of time playing then lose it in a 30 second battle.

    Please consider
This would make a lot of players happy

True, this game is one of a kind. The studio had a clear vision of a shared-world experience when designing this game. No one forces you into combat. Keep your eyes peeled and you can avoid every human threat there is in SoT with ease.

You bought a potatoe and you are upset that it doesn't taste like spaghetti. Sharing a world IS Sea of Thieves. What you and like-minded people ask for is a different game.

  • As a merchant who got slaughtered by pirates a 1000 times i feel it but..
Its exciting and there are easy options to ignore pvp.

Turn in every 5-10 pieces of loot so it no longer hurts so much.

Dont hoard much supplies so you can scuttle without pain.

Canon away before boarding, scuttle, take mermaid to new boat and continue.

Thus completely ignore pvp and give them no supplies.

I do this when im not in the mood for pvp.

  • @ruigtand-nl No matter what you do PvP will find you, Their is no escape. Wether it is in the open seas or trying to turn loot into a outpost. I've ran into the same amount of people camping the outpost to kill and take your loot. Their is no escape! Their is even time where I can't even leave the outpost when I first start because of people camping.

  • Its marketed as a PvPvE game... nuff said.

  • @knotsoeasytv

This game doesn't have any PvP mode. It has two PvEvP modes: Adventure, and it's condensed version, Arena. Both of them have PvE aspects as well as PvP, and are meant for them both to be together. A pure PvE mode has no place in Sea of Thieves, as not only would it empty Adventure servers of all PvE players (and as such all rewards for PvP players), it would also be a hotbed of trolling from other players. You'll really start wishing you could kill other players once one of them grabs your most expensive chest and refuses to let go, or grabs your wheel and steers you into an island, or grabs your capstan and holds it down.

You can learn to avoid PvP players, just as the first PvE players did. Keep your eyes on the horizon, so no one sneaks up on you. Learn the movement speeds of each ship in relation to each other, and from that where you can run if someone does try to fight you. Keep a healthy supply of cursed cannonballs on your pirate, to slow down other crews, and keep a couple of gunpowder kegs in your crow's nest for use on ships that sail directly at you or are chasing. Guard your ladders to prevent boarders. If you do get caught, scuttle the ship to easily avoid the combat, or practice your own against the attackers. Turn in treasure often, and keep the best supplies on you, so that losing your ship isn't too much of a loss. Use the environment to your advantage - you can outturn other ships and get them caught on islands, sandbars, and low rocks, or you can run through a volcanic eruption and avoid the rocks (or tank the hits on a galleon), or you can vanish into a storm or fog bank.

Others avoid PvP during PvE, you can too.

  • @knotsoeasytv
Did you know that you can scuttle your ship and have it respawn elsewhere on the map? In the menu where you look at your crew/team you have an option to vote on scuttling. There are rude players but you are going to run into people no matter what.

I get that you're new but you're going to need to learn the basics of the game and then you'll be fine. Don't horde loot and learn the mechanics. Sloop is the fastest boat when sailing into the wind. You won't get caught by other ships if you sail into the wind and have enough distance. Learn tricks for slowing groups down. I've taken on groups of 4 many times with a single sloop and had no issues. Sloop takes the longest to sink and turns faster than a galleon.

Until the developers say otherwise, the spirit of the game is to have other pirates exist in your world who might steal your loot. Making another PVE thread won't help the cause.

  • @knotsoeasytv

Perhaps when players tire of paying for pets and emotes and ship liverys from the emporium, because how many do you really need? then your wish to perhaps purchase some kind of private servers could become a reality. The game has reached the stage where it now has to become sustainable in order for it to be further developed. And if that means charging players for private servers to generate income, Perhaps it would be looked into.

  • @ultmateragnarok But you can't avoid PvP. Have you not seen the hundreds of people saying the same thing? It's apparently that you are a PvP'er and that is fine. But players like that are just praying on the new player's for free loot. The PvP community is scared that if we actually get a PvE mode they will have a actually challenge for loot. And that is true because PvP players will do it. Their is no harm in a PvE server, many games have a PvP and PvE option and guess what? they are both successful.

  • @needsmokes See their doesn't need to be private servers. let their be a PvE community. Let them be as strong as the PvP Community.

  • @nucl3ar13 Horde loot? I'm trying to complete a mission and turn the loot in. I only do one mission at a time. Still sometimes can't even make it too the first island. I never have more than 5 pieces of loot at a time.

  • @knotsoeasytv

I myself am not a PvP player, actually. I'm all for player interactions, but I prefer to talk to another crew and work together rather than fight them regardless of situation. I know how to fight, however, because in the Sea of Thieves you have to if you want to go far. The PvP community isn't scared of having 'a challenge for loot', they're scared that there won't be any loot at all, because the PvE players who gather it will no longer be there. They fight over treasure all of the time, and many like a hard fight, but if there's nothing to fight for, then what would they do? Sea of Thieves cannot have a PvE server due to its design. As you said yourself, it's a unique game, and none of those other games that do have PvE servers are the same. You can't expect to take a game like this, which was built around balancing PvEvP, and split it in half with no repercussions. Think of it like a food chain - NPCs, such as skeleton ships or megalodons, or even just voyages, produce treasure. That is taken by PvE players, though sometimes it fights back hard enough or run far enough to keep the treasure. PvP players then attempt to take the treasure from the PvE players, or another PvP player depending on what's already happened. The PvE players have to similarly evade or defeat PvP players to continue as they do. The difference is, it's a level playing field between players, while it isn't between players and environmental threats.

Everyone is in the same situation, and most of them fare well. You can to, you just have to adapt to your environment.

  • @l4chsfps But people do force you into combat? I have had player's follow us across the map just too do combat.

  • There would be virtually no challenge in an exclusive PvE mode. It would ruin one of many players favorite aspects of the game, the experience of looking over your shoulder and making sure they are balancing risk/reward. The beauty of SoT is that it is an open world game shared with other player. It's up to you if you want to forge a giant alliance server, or take over the seas.

  • @ultmateragnarok But I do disagree on a couple things. I mean this is a unique game as in it's the only open world pirate game out. Their is no other open world pirate games that gives you this much freedom. Plus you said it yourself If their is no PvE players gathering loot they will have nothing. Why should PvE player have a ruin experience for the PvP'ers gain? Their is no consequences for PvP'ers They just get free loot. You shouldn't be able to just steal and benefit completely from it. What's the point of missions then?

  • @knotsoeasytv

I understand that you enjoy the PVE aspect of the game the most.
But Rare have stated time and time again that this is a shared world, and part of that will be never knowing who else will be on the server with you, or what size of crew. It's just part of what makes this game unique love it or hate it.
Each time you enter a server, it's all down to luck as to what type of players you will meet, we'll, it used to be. I admit the seas are much more hostile than they used to be.
But I can't see that changing any time soon.
I'm neither for or against PVE servers.

  • Buys Pirate game complains about the Pirates.

  • @dailyalphattv You guys are acting like their is no threat in the game besides players? Yes players are the BIGGEST threat. but their are Krakens, Megladons, And ghost ships, And these all can do a lot of damage. Plus you are talking about groups of people. This thread is about solo and duos getting rekt by 1 to 4 good pvp'ers.

  • @knotsoeasytv

The point of voyages is to keep players moving from island to island with treasure on board, and to give a form of leveled progression. If you want to live the pirate life, you have to deal with people wanting to steal your gains from you. They do have consequences as well, PvP ships will often carry several battles worth of treasure on board, and they can lose it all if they sink, along with their amassed resources, which often take quite a bit of time to regain. PvE players aren't defenceless, they can fight back just as well as PvP players. As for being a unique game, it's the only game classed as a SWAG, a term made specifically for it, as nothing else could describe it.

About what you said with 'solos and duos', solo crews go around sinking galleons and brigantines too. It's possible for the fights to go in any direction.

  • @knotsoeasytv said in Please give us a PvE mode.:

The PvP community is scared that if we actually get a PvE mode they will have a actually challenge for loot.

Sounds like that's what you are scared about right now.

If the mix of PVP and PVE doesn't work for you, there are plenty of other PVE-only games and even singleplayer ones too.

  • @bloodybil I'm not scared of it but it annoying when that is all the game turns into. It's easy to back up a point with a whole community behind you. look how many Pvp'ers have committed on this thread and look how many people that want a PvE Mode. one or two men can't fight a battle. Same goes for in game. That is my point.

  • modules:composer.user_said_in, @ultmateragnarok, Please give us a PvE mode.

    @knotsoeasytv

A pure PvE mode has no place in Sea of Thieves,

...unless Rare decides it does, to give the player base what it wants.

You'll really start wishing you could kill other players once one of them grabs your most expensive chest and refuses to let go, or grabs your wheel and steers you into an island, or grabs your capstan and holds it down.

Unless the PVE mode doesn't allow this.

You sound like someone desperate to preserve their pool of victims.

  • modules:composer.user_said_in, @dailyalphattv, Please give us a PvE mode.

There would be virtually no challenge in an exclusive PvE mode. The "it's a big sandbox" argument is great, until a PVE advocate uses it. Then all the PVPers who use the sandbox argument to justify their bad sportsmanship have a problem with it.

  • @knotsoeasytv

@dailyalphattv You guys are acting like their is no threat in the game besides players?

This isn't an act, the PvE environment stopped being a threat over a year ago for many of us. You reach a point in this game where that stuff stops being a threat and becomes a nuisance.

Plus you are talking about groups of people. This thread is about solo and duos getting rekt by 1 to 4 good pvp'ers.

Than just group up? No one forces you to play a sloop, plus many here have no qualms attacking a ship when outnumbered against a larger ship. This includes myself, but every player here started exactly where you are now. Instead of coming here to the forum and begging big daddy Rare to take the big bad meanies out of the game, we just learned to get better. You want Rare to remove the obstacle, we decided to overcome it.

Let loose my dude, relax, attack a ship, and learn to join in the fun. Its just digital loot, nothing to get upset over. You will lose loot more times in the future. Stop putting so much value in that loot, the minute you do that, is the moment this games fun factor multiplies.

  • modules:composer.user_said_in, @nucl3ar13, Please give us a PvE mode.

Until the developers say otherwise, the spirit of the game is to have other pirates exist in your world who might steal your loot. Making another PVE thread won't help the cause.

And you're trying to shut down those threads.

  • @nabberwar Why can't we play the game the way we want and enjoy it like you? Why do we have to have a group of 4 and battle to the death? Why can't we just enjoy the amazing game? Is that what you want, a buff to skeletons? Again you guys are stuck on the cat and mouse games. This is a open world Adventure game. Not a cat and mouse game. If i wanted that I could go play dead by daylight. I want to go out and role play and make my own adventure not get slaughtered then called trash. their is rarely any sportsman ship in PvP. It's all greed and salt.

  • @knotsoeasytv

Why can't we play the game the way we want and enjoy it like you?

When I bought this game, I knew exactly what I was buying, a multiplayer sandbox mode with unknown player encounters. I enjoy this game, because it was exactly what I expected it to be. This is written right in the description of the game

Whether you’re voyaging as a group or sailing solo, you’re bound to encounter other crews in this shared-world adventure – but will they be friends or foes, and how will you respond?

It is no one else's problem you never read the product description.

Why do we have to have a group of 4 and battle to the death?

Regardless if I am solo, duo, trio, or rocking the Galleon I fight anyone and everyone. I swing up all the time, because I don't take this game that seriously. I have fun if I win, I have fun when I sink. I am not a salty sore loser who goes to big daddy Rare and asks them to take away the big bad players playing the game in a normal fashion.

This is a open world Adventure game.

Your missing an important word their, Shared World Adventure Game.

I want to go out and role play and make my own adventure not get slaughtered then called trash. their is rarely any sportsman ship in PvP. It's all greed and salt.

Greed yes, but the salt isn't coming from them in this situation. Salty people are the kind of people that come to forums and ask for the game to cater for them to ensure they can't lose or always succeed.

  • modules:composer.user_said_in, @ultmateragnarok, Please give us a PvE mode.

Thanks for cutting right to it. Hilarious. Do you not get it, or are you hoping the PVE players will buy your pitch?
Let me explain: You're supposed to be gathering your own loot. You're not supposed to count on others to get ahead. PVP is for when you both arrive at the shipwreck at the same time, etc. When you make it your main way of getting rich, YOU'RE having a good time, but the people you're victimizing aren't. So, you just admitted that the reason you oppose PVE servers is it lets your victims be left in peace to play as THEY want and have THEIR good time, instead of having your version of fun forced down their throats. The PVE players in no way acknowledge your right to take our treasure, especially in a bullying 4-on-1 configuration. We feel the same way that honest, hard-working people feel IRL when they get robbed. We can't believe it's allowable in the game. We consider it a grave defect in an otherwise excellent game with unique properties, one that should be remedied immediately.

Prediction: Some PVP type will suggest I play another game. No thanks, I would rather pressure the developers, using the voluminous numbers of PVE advocates (are we the majority? Could be...) and repeated requests for PVE servers.

  • @nucl3ar13 Why would someone respond to a thread that is over ran with hate on the subject? the way everyone is going on about it is childish. once someone express their feeling about a PvE mode. Everyone gets all but hurt, They bring points up that doesn't matter and the same argument. It discourages people from expressing their feeling on a subject when they get ganged up on.

It's not the loot. It's the forced contact. The last thing I want when escaping the troubles of life with a good video game is contact with other humans. They're the problem in the first place—as this game demonstrates on the regular.

And trying to paint your way of playing as superior with your cheap "big daddy Rare" comment only reinforces my point. Why would I want to play with someone with such an arrogant attitude?

Thanks for letting me know how to play the game. If you don't mind though, I will keep playing it how I see fit, I don't need anyone to explain me and try to convince me to play the game how they see fit and in a way to not inconvenience them.

It's funny how some think that people who do PVP don't get their own loot on top of it. Sorry if others are more efficient than others, some can do voyages and do a few detours to kill megs, ghost ships, player ships as well on the way. Ever heard of multitasking?

You are just one more stop during the whole adventure, don't flatter yourself thinking you are the only target because you get attacked.

I will keep getting my own loot, and adding to my pile the loot of anyone and anything on my path if I feel like it.

When you make it your main way of getting rich, YOU'RE having a good time, but the people you're victimizing aren't.

You mean like in any game where some people lose and some people win? If you can't find fun in your adventure unless you win, that's on you. I've sunk with hundreds of thousands worth of gold and still ended up adding friends to my list from my foes crews and having a laugh and GG out of it, as well as future crewmates aswell.

    Lighten up matey :)

    Hahahahaha

"I won't play a game that is more suiting for me, I will nag the developers to change theirs for me instead"

Yeah good luck with that. Clearly you don't enjoy the game in the form it is intended to be, and clearly the game isn't going in a direction that will separate PVE from PVP.

Feel free to nag until you get blue in the face though, don't forget to take a break and breathe once in a while.

  • @bloodybil That is one of the most toxic posts I have ever seen. You said it yourself you are gonna play it the way you want. even if that means making someone else have a bad time. Their are times that you can have good moments in this game in bad situations but that is far not the case in most situations. Most people I come into contact with has no loot and will track you down like a dog.

  • @knotsoeasytv said in Please give us a PvE mode.:

The most toxic post you've ever seen? Are you freaking kidding me? I am toxic by saying I do voyages and attack PVE and PVP entities without discrimination at the same time?

SoT is a game, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, you seem to take this a lot more seriously than you should. I don't sink people to ruin their day, there is nothing personal in that, you make it personal and cause yourself grief.

When you play a match-based game of any kind, do you complain that the other team is making you having a bad time because they won and you lost?

  • @kevininnyc

You sound like someone desperate to preserve their pool of victims.

Funny, this isn't the first time someone has generalized me because of my stance on an argument. It happened earlier in this thread, in fact, and I pointed out that I'm not even one of the PvP players. I prefer to meet people out on the Sea of Thieves rather than see how differently they react to various balls of iron, but even I, as a PvE player, know how badly a PvE only server would ruin the game for some people. And you don't want the game irreversibly ruined for people, do you? At least you can learn to enjoy it from your position, like many before you have, and many after you will.

Let me explain: You're supposed to be gathering your own loot. You're not supposed to count on others to get ahead. PVP is for when you both arrive at the shipwreck at the same time, etc.

PvP is for whenever players want to start it. You can do whatever you want to in the Sea of Thieves, but other players, or even PvE elements, may try to stop you. It's often unintentionally, there's no general code for telling who's a PvP player and who's a PvE player, and the lines between them are often blurred anyways. You have to deal with players trying to mess with you, and drive them off. Whether that's from you scuttling every time they get close, running for hours on end, or repeatedly besting them in combat is your choice. Players can get ahead however they want to, some even rely on others by making 6 ship alliances to farm only PvE. They've made a PvE server themselves by putting the work in, why can't you put the work in to avoid the other ships you're complaining about?

The PVE players in no way acknowledge your right to take our treasure, especially in a bullying 4-on-1 configuration. We feel the same way that honest, hard-working people feel IRL when they get robbed. We can't believe it's allowable in the game. We consider it a grave defect in an otherwise excellent game with unique properties, one that should be remedied immediately.

You accepted that other players may attack you the moment you bought a pirate-themed game marketed as a PvEvP game. You can't have expected to be able to dig up chests all day, with no threat of anything attacking you in a multiplayer game. Other people are going to try to attack you sometimes, or even just go over and try to be nice to you, and you have to deal with it. You're arguing about how PvP players are ruining the fun for PvE players, despite the countless PvE players who've dealt with it for months or even nearing multiple years, for a few, but you aren't considering that your suggestions will instead ruin the fun for the PvP players instead, as they want to have some reward for winning a battle. The treasure you're carrying, as well as the resources on board your ship, are just that.

Some PVP type will suggest I play another game. No thanks, I would rather pressure the developers, using the voluminous numbers of PVE advocates (are we the majority? Could be...) and repeated requests for PVE servers.

You aren't the majority. Sure, the number of PvE players is likely higher than the number of PvP players, but the vast majority of them are out on the seas enjoying themselves after learning how to either avoid or defend themselves against other ships. The players clamoring for PvE servers are a minority. A loud minority, yes, but a minority nonetheless. You don't see every one (or even half of) the several million players of this game asking alongside you, do you? As @KnotSoEasyTV said earlier, "One or two men can't fight a battle" on the forums. I don't see any majority here, I just see you claiming people as allies and enemies to you from your perspective, while people from both of those sides attempt to tell you why your idea doesn't work.
