Region-Specific Shop Items

  • It appears that at some point, newer items that have been added to the shops have been added to all of the shops - I don't like this. For example, you can find the Parrot set at every outpost regardless of region. I much prefer having some items at certain shops, with other items only at other shops - just like they did with the Admiral, Sovereign, and Sea Dog sets. I like to think that it further encourages exploration and travel across the SoT, but also worry that I might be in the minority here.

  • @galactic-geek It hasn't been that way for some time. I also enjoyed the region specific sets, but they removed that with the Anniversary Update, if I recall... maybe even earlier.

  • @galactic-geek as a concept I really liked the sets being locked to regions.

In practice it was a pain. You needed to relog multiple times or sail the entire map just to see if there was anything new in the shops.

When you wanted to buy something you were never in the right region and the whole thing was poorly communicated for new players resulting in more confusion than immersion.

I think changing it back was the right call, but I'd like if Morrow's still had unique stuff, because you don't spawn there and it's a more challenging outpost than any of the others (due to eruptions and the region it's in). It was kind of cool when there were unique cosmetics on sale there to encourage people to make the journey.

  • I love the idea if it sticks to a few cosmetics, to avoid what @Boxcar-Squidy said.
I personnaly like the fact that many legendary skin are not viewable for non legend pirate as me, or running into someone and just wondering where it get his nice grog cup. Not for a lot sure, but something like 35-25% of the cosmetics like this would bring some variety and make the cosmetics more than just simple skin.
After all, the consequences of playing and enjoying the game coming with the adrenaline to cash out all that hardly acquired loot are gaining gold coins for cosmetic right ? Why don't just play with this concept via journey to the skin and commendation, so the next time someone ask why you have a wood leg, you could literaly said '' cause a shark crunch me and the taste was good ''

  • I like how it is now.

They removed the region items by the same time they added sub-menus for each item in the shop UI, cause this way it would look lame and pretty empty.

If you've select "hats" for example you'd only see 3-4 hats.

  • It would be nice if it was an MMO but with how the game is setup now, it's not necessary in my opinion. I would just server hop until I spawn at the good outpost just to check a few items and I think I wouldn't be alone doing it.

  • They seem to have practically phased out shops all together which is disappointing.

Region specific items add to the value of each shop and provide variety without being an overwhelming amount of inventory in each. On the other hand by adding everything to every shop then they can hide the sparse selection. Maybe we will get region specific emporium stuff soon instead?

  • I miss the region specific stuff, and was rather annoyed when it was removed.

I can understand some frustrations people may have with having to sail around and hop servers, but that wasn't really an issue. Buy it when you get a chance, there is zero reason someone needs it right that second...

At the very least have some region specific sets, and then shared sets :?

Speak for yourself - as someone who owns nearly everything, I hate how the shops show everything I already own. It's so cluttered! Just show me what I haven't already bought! 🙄

  • @Galactic-Geek I have similar thoughts. I loved Region-specific items when they were in-game. It forced players to explore and have to travel to the far reaches to get the gear they wanted. Now, it operates like Internet-based retailers. Doesn't matter where we are, we can get the items we want.

  • @galactic-geek I liked it when I was new to the game but after that it became an annoyance. It didn't add anything to the game for me other than having to sail to the other side of the world to by a pair of pants.

  • @zormis Good point as well! With that in mind, one idea is have EVERYTHING available down in the Pirate Legend hideout, but bring back region specific items topside.

  • pretty sure all skins can be bought at all outposts now. i miss the old system, but i guess the new system is more convenient even though it takes away from the world. like i mean having to travel to devils roar to get devils roar clothing just felt right. same for the other regions. i would travel across the map just for clothes. now i dont go no where my quests dont take me
