Naming the uncharted islands

  • Most people know of these three islands despite them being on any map. Past events and even tall tales have utilized them before but they never gotten an official name. Usually they are referred to by the coordinates at which they sit on the map, but when the forsaken shores released, those coordinates changed. This could happen again.

I was thinking of giving them sort of unofficial names for pirates to refer to them when talking about them.

The first island at K9 which is my favorite of the three, I started calling Throne Cove. Simple, appropriate, even fits with the theme of island names. The circular nature of the island consisting of three independent islands making up the entirety of the island with sea pouring into the middle, reminds me of Shark Bait Cove, and the hidden throne clearly influences the name.

The next island near the sea dogs tavern, that sits on the border of I and J12, is the island where Merrick's ship went down. Also the island where stitcher Jim first reappeared with the masked stranger. This island I considered calling Killer Whale's rest. Obviously named after the final resting place of Merrick's ship. This island has a lot of potential though due to the many occurrences that have happened there, even the curious kraken skeleton deep under water off shore has a nice tale behind it and could be referenced in an unofficial name.

The third island at N13 could have something to do with The Magpie's Wing. Maybe Magpie's Fall or Magpie's Rest. Maybe even call it Lord's End. I don't think the pirate lord was killed there but when a pirate loses his ship I'm sure he feels his voyage has ended.

These wouldn't be official names that would be added into the game but just names for us pirates to use when talking about these islands. I bet some of you can imagine some better names for these islands than I have so let me know what you come up with.

  • The beauty of these islands is they dont have an official name apart from numbers. So crews can call them what ever they want.

In order you listed i call them..

    Skull Cove
    Killer Whale Aisle
Balin's Temple (internal joke, Balin is a friend of mine)

  • @zherron-vorse Right on! I'm sure a lot of crews already have nicknames for them. Most likely due to some history behind them.

My first real memory of the killer whales island was using it to have another galleon beach themselves as they were chasing us. Unfortunately it started out bad because we hit a reef ourselves. We freed ourselves before they caught up and then they had more trouble than us. So it still worked out. They still seemed to be stuck as we disappeared out of view.

  • Great sold done. Rare please update map with islands and names i always beach me boat on those while sailing the map :")

  • Why ask Rare to just give the islands names if they can hold a naming competition for them?
