Fishing in the storm

  • Fishing in the storm is incredibly difficult due to lightning striking constantly. Of the five bites I just attempted I only was able to catch two thanks to the lightning. Either lightning shouldn't snap the line or when struck should be a new mechanic involving shocking the fish. That would be pretty fun to see happen. Either way I don't see how fishing for storm fish or any other fish during a storm is possible with the constant strikes. Just getting to the forum and typing this out I've been struck five times sitting on my ship.

  • Yeah me too i tried and only got one its super hard.. is there a trick for a save spot maybe?

  • I have noticed this but it seems to fluctuate for me. There are times when ill get hit 7 times while standing in the same spot in a cosmetic store and other times i can catch 3 stormfish before i get hit.

    Seems to be sporadic

I dont even fish but i fully agree. The lightning is insane lately.

  • I think they should reduce the probability of being hit while using the fishing rod.

  • Fishing on a sloop, off the bottom deck behind the map. Rarely you won’t be hit by lightning. Tho still got to worry about the heavy waves damaging your ship.

So far yeah. With fishing rod in hand, lightning should be reduced but rare chances at hitting the player.

  • @burnbacon

Okay ill try it today from the map spot xD

  • @craftin248 I mean there's a reason why you don't go out fishing during a storm irl, fishing rods attract lightning. :)

Be courteous. Don’t insult players you don’t know. If humour is the intent, remember that this can be lost or misinterpreted online, and words can very easily offend. Be mindful of what you’re saying and if someone asks a question, see if you can help them out as you’d appreciate being helped out yourself if the roles were reversed.

Be respectful. Sea of Thieves is a game for everyone regardless of age, gender, race, sexuality, nationality, creed or disability. Treat everyone with respect. Diversity only enriches this larger-than-life pirate community of ours and makes Sea of Thieves’ world a far more interesting one to explore. When we all play, everyone wins.

  • Try fishing on a beam or post of some sort so that you are only hurt by direct strikes and not nearby ones! =)

  • So many newbs whined about how hard the FotD would be since you would have to have all the lights.

SO, once again, Rare nerfed the game by buffing lightning. To make the FotD easier, Rare made lightning strikes have a higher chance of hitting you. They didn't stop there either. Now, when you hold a sword in a storm, lightning is EVEN MORE likely to hit you. Why can't Rare just make something and kind of stick with it? Made the FotD, but messed with lightning. "Fixed" "double gunning", but messed with swords.

Put lightning back how it was, PLEASE, Rare?

  • Yeah it got worse since this update rolled around.

I made a thread about this once as well. I lost like 4 or 5 stormfish because I kept getting hit by lightning ONLY when I was reeling in the fish. Like, swinging your sword about does nothing to help you get struck by lightning. Just fish. You’ll get that white lantern way faster
