is it possible to Board a Galleon without the ladders?

  • Last session my crew and I were in a Galleon, and a sloop rolled up on us and for a fight and that is always fun! fun until... we were actively watching the ladders, and one of them boarded us.. somehow, and one shot us. Being that we never back down and NEVER EVER scuttle the ship we came back and exacted revenge.. but then one of them boarded our ship again! again while we watched the ladders.... and we were again all wiped with one shots. All said this a happened 4 times, same thing, They seemed to appear at the bow of the boat, No noise of them swimming or climbing, just on the boat and were able to precisely blunderbuss or sword strike one shot us. Been playing since launch and have lost a few fights which will happen in a game like this, but we Have never been wiped so stealthily like that! *And it was not them being launched aboard with the cannon. Anyone else experience this?

  • You can cannon on board, jump on board, sword lunge onboard and climb (ladders) on board. Those are the four ways to do it. Although sword lunging onboard is just a glorified jumping on board. So 3 ways really, I guess?

So it was one of those.

Or they were cheating. Which happens too.

  • Other than by cannon, you can attach a rowboat, get grappled onboard, if your ship is close jump from the rigging and if the ship is somewhat far away the most skilled players can do what is called a dolphin jump where they sword lunge from high up, land in the water and redirect the momentum upwards launching them out the sea and on to the deck.
When the sea is rough rocking the boat there are even more options, you can climb onto a rowboat at the back and if the mast is down you can climb on the ladder.

Honestly though it's more likely there was lag when they climbed your ladder so it just looked like they teleported on deck
