The loot is gone before the vault is even open?

  • Typing this whilst playing but there is a duo alliance of brigantines that are alternating at the fort. All sounds normal apart from the fact the loot is being taken out before they happen to finish the fort so they leave the fort with the loot whilst the other stays to obtain the key again. When I asked how it was being done i was greeted with '[mod edited]' and 'Another annoying [mod edited]. I believe the both these instances are against the pirate code. I was unable to get video or audio footage of what was going on but I really hope something can be done. I could only report one of the players as the other names didn't come up when I searched them.

  • So, if you have reported, already, why did you come here to make a thread? Perhaps you're just trying to make a thread implying PC players are bad people with an unfair advantage.

Really... What is the point of this post? Do you have a question? Do you need links to tutorials?

  • @dislex-fx I don't think you understand what is happening. I'm not trying to make anyone look bad. This, if you agree is out of order and something has to be done about it. It just seems that it is always PC players that get away with a lot of things, especially when it comes to understanding the rules and 'Pirate Code' that the devs want everyone to follow.

  • @j4k3789

Are you sure they're not completing a round of the event, then loading a ship, starting the event and sailing off with the previous haul? As for the toxicity, a bit of bad there, perhaps a warning over it, but not much more.

  • Yeah you can keep the key without opening the vault.

If the fort is activated again you can use the old key and get the loot out while you start clearing the skellies again for another key..

Thus farming the fort a couple of times.

  • @ruigtand-nl Doesn't that seem a bit odd though? Like they are wasting the time from doing one which wastes the loot from that spawn. There's no real quick way to do the FOTD so wouldn't they just be wasting loot?

  • @ruigtand-nl

What I meant, rather, was they started the round with the previous reward still there, and then left one crew to fight the first waves, and the other sailed off to sell. Then the second ship would come back and assist with the more difficult waves once they began. With a lot of ritual skulls, it could be repeated for some time.

  • @j4k3789

It can have a nomber of reasons.

Maybe they had to flee with the key the first time?

Maybe its to cover.. when the skullcloud is up pirates wait for it to go before they attack but they take out the loot while the cloud is still up and sneak away?

Maybe its 2 ships working together in farming the fort and one boat delivers to outpost while the other already starts working on the next fort?

And there it is. Just like I predicted...

Discrimination is against the community code of conduct.

There is a possibility of running into this because the dev's don't reset the servers a lot.

    This is whats happening.

Fort is activated. The players who have it activated still have the key. They use the key on the fort door, load everything up and go sell while the fort is still going. This isn't anything new. This tactic was used A LOT back in the day.

No shenanigans going on. If you want to know "WHY" they are doing it that way then figure it out. Just to let you know its not anything that needs reporting over.

SIDE NOTE Bruh....did you seriously put in a snippet about PC players while complaining about a completely valid tactic?

Seriously?? This is the exact reason why xbox players need to learn to get better. How is it possible to make a post and STILL find a way to blame PC players for something that has been around since the start of the game?? People need to stop trying to point the finger at PC and just man up and get better at the game.

  • @xultanis-dragon

Last year i collected 3 skullkeys from regular fort and took them to lonely island and played with the keys before i logged off..
The keys look better then the loot xD

  • @ruigtand-nl

lol. We did the same thing one time. A 3 ship alliance was doing a fort one time, and I snuck up on the fort while my crewmate was doing circles. I kegged one of the boats when the Captain was killed. Start yelling into the mic, "GALLEON IS BETRAYING US, GALLEON IS BETRAYING US!!" , shoot the guy with the key and kill him "THE GALLEON IS STEALING THE KEY!", my crewmate picked me up and it looked like something out of a movie lol. It was done SUPER CLEAN.

We just kept the key and watch the ships fight each other for like 3 hours while they argued over who had the key. That was fun.

  • @xultanis-dragon

    Aye its chaos sometimes xD
If they sneak on and fire your gun on your ally all of a sudden you get in this ugly fight with your friends xD

  • @xultanis-dragon I play on Xbox and my pc are are you saying there is no advantage to pc players if you are I can honestly say your wrong dead wrong I play on my Xbox when I want to just collect treasure & Merch etc and when I want PvP I play on my pc it's not about get good on Xbox the truth is there is an advantage on pc there all ways has been

  • @dislex-fx us pc players do have an advantage you are kidding right I play on Xbox as well but I usually play on my Xbox to do voyages and jump on my pc for PvP I have been gaming for 25 plus years and there is an advantage with a mouse and key board there all ways has been ask any hardcore pc player

  • The fort was also completed this way as before the fix it was the only way to make the forts count towards the commendations.

  • It's a bug related with server merges... We're having that a lot since we're having from 4 to 5 merges per play session...

There are 2 things that happens with the fort when Server Merge happens and one of those may be the cause of this...

    • The first is, when a SM happens the fort lights automatically get the right colors and the only thing it needs is a ritual skull to start it.
    • The second thing that happens is, if you get merged right after defeating the Boss the vault opens without using any key, so you get the Loot and an extra key.

The second one is probably what happened in your server.

  • @j4k3789
@nunoazuldimeter is right. I've merged twice now after the boss was killed. We had the key, we had a vault full of loot that followed us in the merge, but the vault on the new server was unlocked. So once we activate the fort a second time, we can use the key from the first fort immediately without fighting anything.

  • [mod edit]

  • @j4k3789 Reporting 1 name should be enough - if what you say is true, and they were breaking the rules, then Rare/MS can see which game you were in with that individual, and who was with them at the time - they could potentially even see the chat logs between players; if this is the case, action may be taken on some, or all of them.

What are 'you people' going to do in the future when many (most?) games will be cross-platform and tons more platform options? Are you on the Google Stadia sites asking them to not come out with Stadia, because it's not fair?

I played on xbox for a good while and play on PC, I'm not dead wrong. The differences are minimal. You have to realize that you can play xbox like you can PC, you have to change up your playstyle.

Everyone treats SoT as a first person shooter and its not. The advantages PC would get are not present in this game. Yes you can track better with guns but thats pretty much it. Even if you can it doesn't help you since there are no such things are headshots or body or limb shots. You hit someone in their toe it does the same damage as it would if you hit them in the head.

Sorry broski, I've played on both and I had no problem sinking ships on the xbox.

"Then why do you use PC HUH!!!!" - I use PC because of some physical disabilities I have. Nerve damage and missing digits. Makes it hard to play on controller, but I still rekt.....hmm....funny how that is right?

SIDE NOTE You've been gaming for 25 years?? Well I guess I win on that one since I've been gaming for 30 years. Sooooo I guess I win? I've also played professionally back in the day on multiple hardwares in different genres. If this was CoD or Battlefield, or PuBG I would agree but its not a first person shooter game.

I also would like to point out that there is a person out there right now winning against M&K with his MOUTH. Hes winning in PubG using his mouth. Dude you guys have no leg to stand on, its all about effort and skill. If you got it, you got it, if you don't you complain about it.

  • @xultanis-dragon listen they way you can move with a mouse in any first person game is superior you turn can quicker with any mouse over any control pad you as far as who's gaming been gaming longer I might have got the math wrong I'm 44 years and I have been gaming since I was six but it's not about age it's about if if mouse and key board is better or not if it isn't better than why can use a mouse and key board on Xbox now . why implementing Xbox players opt out from pc players if there is no difference mabey there is people like who are good with both but not every body is you I say you have nerve damage so I think you would hate control pad for that reason my mate has nerve damage in his hand to and he uses mouse and key board for that reason and is stoked he can use mouse and keyboard on Xbox now......

  • A server merge likely gave them an extra key.

But let's blame it on PC players.

    eyeroll

Yeah but I would never complain about inconsistancies on a platform. If you want to play, then play. The worst thing you can do is beat yourself down and making up some magically wall that you can pass like "Oh well of course I couldn't win, they were on PC." - Why do that to yourself? You play and play and try to get better. Some players can't do it thats very true, the only issue with that is why are we catering to them in the first place? Not every person on PC is good at playing games. Some players play PC because its easier than console for personal reasons. Others play on PC but use controllers for that same reason.

I'm more for input opt out. If they wanted to just do controller opt out then fine. I never argued against that. What I am against is the hardware opt out. Saying PC players are just inherently superior because of just simply mouse and keyboard is a silly excuse. We have players that use controller, we have players that can only use their mouse because they are paralyzed.

Get where I'm going with this? Not everyone on PC uses M&K and lots of us would just switch to controller to play with our friends or to at least keep playing with other players. I met a lot of good friends thanks to the way crossplay works in this game. I've also'd taught some of them HOW to play the game and how to PvP.

PvP is not just about twitch speed, its also mind games and tactical reasoning. I'm sorry but when players want to make the argument that they lost ONLY because someone was on M&K, I call shenanigans. Its practice and experience and lots of xbox players DO NOT LIKE TO PVP and those are the ones complaining the loudest.

If it was for input opt out then so be it. I wouldn't be such a voice of opposition, but when its hardware opt out and there are players that argue for it by saying that Frame rates and other excuses is the reason why I call them just whiny babies because thats what they are babies.

SIDE NOTE I can't recall the post but when I asked someone how they would feel about PC being allowed into opt out if we used controller, their response was "Who cares, PC is just going to hack and cheat anyways, would rather it stays the way it is and remove PC".

    Thats just straight up prejudice.

  • @xultanis-dragon listen I don't care what u play on but if you choose not to play with a pc player or a pc player chooses not to play with Xbox player or an Xbox player chooses to play with a pc player with a control pad then them options should be there every body has paid money to play the damn game and should be able to choose who they want to play with no matter what format they play then the arguments would stop simple theres an update i would like to see over free under wear

    • list item
  • @xultanis-dragon any how I'm bored with topic now I'm of to play SOT next decision is what to play on and I guess that makes me lucky I get to choose some peeps don't get to play at all any how good sailing and may your journeys be plentiful

    • This is why Xbox needs an Opt out choice, to get out of the whole Pc vs xbox craze and just call it a day. Let Pc players play with or without xbox and vise-versa.

Anywho, From the OP description. It seems as many have already stated. 1- They started and finished a fort but didnt open the vault. 2- Start fort again and use Key from 1 to open and take loot, while second Allies tend to the current active fort. Thus when the second group returns, it should be completed and new Key. Rinse and Repeat, quick and to the point. Nothing new or out of the rules here.

  • @j4k3789 What could have happened is that they cleared the fort but did not open the gate untill they started the fort again. Like this they would have a key and an active fort at the same time. That atleast would explain your situation.

While anyone would want to empy the loot room while the fort is active is beyond me tho...

  • @j4k3789 the fort of the dammed is the only fort you can activate
wich means someone could be in the fort room as it is activated and they could probably give the chests through the door or the walls
and when theyre finished they could blow themselves up using the kegs in there to spawn back

i do not know if this would work but still...

  • @j4k3789 sometimes people get server merged with a key. Happened to me once and you bet your booty I used it on active fort. https://youtu.be/bNX1RdupjRA

  • @triheadedmonkey eh, ok, fair enough. This post of mine is four months old though. I can't even remember what I said. Like, to be honest, if I went replying to a post from 4 months ago ya'll would be pulling me up for a necro. I fully appreciate and understand the role of moderation, but I'm completely incapable of making sure I don't cross any lines in the future when I don't even know what it is that you feel I've done to overstep the lines. Ah, whatever, you all do you. Good luck with the development of the game and looking after the forum. I don't really see myself contributing around here anymore.
