I just got one on the grassy shoreline of Old Faithful island.
Doing the Legendary ritual skull voyage.
Got me 145 coins!
I’d like every one who’s got one to post here the island what they were there for and how much. If we are to hunt this glittery fellers down we need all the information we can combine.
@k1lroyw4sh3r3 I killed one and got ~350 coins. Was on castaway isle, whatever the new one with stitcher jim is, it spawned right by me.
@k1lroyw4sh3r3 Killed two. The first on Shipwreck Bay for 146 coins. The second inside the depths of the shores of gold during TT9. This one gave 125 coins.
Found a third on cannon cove but didn't kill it. And a crew I was working with had one appear on shipwreck bay again with us. They killed it but I wasn't close by. I only heard a quick fanfare when it died and knew what had happened.

First two netted about 150 actually forgot to check the third’s coin worth.

I killed one on Castaway Isle.
My boat sunk and had spawned there. I was scouring the isle for supplies when I heard it spawn behind me.
I forget the exact amount but I bought the Coin Flip emote and have 100 coins left.
@k1lroyw4sh3r3 They are random. They appear in Adventure and Arena. I’ve had two pop up. One on Wanderer’s in Adventure and one on Chicken in Arena.
I also saw a video where one popped up at Shark Fin Camp in Arena.
I've had 5, totalling ~660 coins. It doesn't show you the exact amount when you kill it - you have to visit an emporium to see your full amount and remember how much you had previously.
One was on Old Faithful during TT8, another was also in the tunnels on TT9. I've been mostly doing TT for the past few weeks.
As far as I have understood, whenever a regular skelly spawn is triggered, there is a 2% chance that one of these will also trigger. The entire crew gets paid.
The notification shows coins on the left of it, proportionate to the amount it paid.
The ~150 ones just show a small pile of coins, whereas the higher value ones show a bag of coins, or two bags of coins.
