Twitch re-naming pirates??

  • I ran into Pace yesterday during one of our runs and we killed him a bunch. We didn't really know it was him till someone said something when they checked their recent play list.

My question is I found the segment in the video where we were and I have to say that our names are different on the broadcast. I know it was OUR ship because I know how we play and everything happened exactly like it did when we were playing.

Is twitch re-naming pirates on broadcast??

  • This is a setting in the Sea of Thieves menu; the game will display random names for all other pirates, your crew only or both.

  • Yes this was added in an update not too long ago. You now have the ability to scramble gamertags so you see generic names on your screen. This is primarily aimed at streamers so that they can stream and not have to show people's gamertags on their stream. You can choose from the main menu if you want to only scramble other random players' names, or your own crew as well. Pace scrambles all names now. It's all to protect people's privacy if they are playing and are unknowingly being broadcast live on a stream, unknowingly being recorded for a YouTube video, and also to prevent stream sniping.

  • Link to stream?

  • Yeah it was added to cut down on stream sniping.

nope it's a setting on the game that pace is using

  • Can you give us the date of the video and time stamp please? You must be an elite crew if you killed Pace a bunch, unless it's just when he's boarding alone against a gally or brig of course. Definitely interested in seeing you guys in action!

  • Pace know the game and he know the moves of the players before they move.....play every day 10 hour and you will bo so good like him. I think there

will be a lot of players who are better than pace, but they dont stream and nobody knows them.
