Tall Tales

  • Don't get me wrong, the Shores of Gold was entertaining, wonderful, and a great addition to the game, However, I feel like they used the same type of puzzles way too many times. I'm not talking about the main puzzles like the ghost lantern and the telescope, I am talking about the flooding rooms. The next tall tales story should have more diversity in the puzzles. I understand that it's harder to do that but I really do think it will help attract attention and keep players interested throughout all the missions.

  • Agreed, the final section of shores of gold was what I would call a good prototype for future tall tales. The underground section was a blast to play with since it involved sections of traps, platforming, and skelly battles back to back. It was exhilarating but those flooding room puzzles were too similar and the traversal between them was really slow and boring

Exactly, the labyrinth was great and I really wish they had more puzzles like that throughout the story. It was getting really tedious and repetitive at some points and there should have been a larger variety of puzzles.

The puzzle rooms were part of the ancients' main defence against intruders, and all of the ones on Tribute Peak were somewhat different. They also provided a reason to explore the surface of the island, finding all of the journals up there before venturing into the trap-infested areas below. I was interested throughout the entire mission anyways though, they do provide a varied experience. Each vault you find is different in the entire course of the Shores of Gold:
Shroudbreaker: Normal vault, slowed water, three levels, three medallions shown on table
Stars of a Thief: Normal vault, normal water, two levels
Art of a Trickster: Fighting vault, no water, medallions must be collected from fight
    Shores of Gold:
Boat vault (south): 3/4 pillars of normal vault, water, three levels, no medallions
Kraken vault (west): Normal vault, no water or closing door, one level which requires exploration, no medallions
Shark vault (east): Normal vault, water, one level which is the Gold Hoarder symbol, no medallions
Warrior vault (north): Vault has spikes along floor, no water, two levels which are all the same icon, no medallions
All of these have unique things about them, with the possible exception being the one in Stars of a Thief, which has another puzzle before it which is the real challenge.
