[SERIOUS ISSUE] Sprint resetting the ability to aim your guns and shoot.

  • As stated, today's fix was supposed to fix the double shot and eor hipfire spammers, but it came with a nasty side-effect.

Every time you sprint, your gun enters the 1 second cooldown too, you know what that means right? gunpoweder skeletons are being a MASSIVE headache thanks to this, it also made gunplay EXTREMELY clunky.

The 1 second delay between SHOTS is fine, not letting you aim and/or shoot after sprinting is terrible (and probably not intended as well).

Just letting you all know about it, and i really hope it gets hotfixed ASAP.

  • So much this. I'm just joining servers today to talk to everyone and get their opinions.. so far everyone iv talked to is not liking the delays from runing/swimming/jumping. Most are okay with a delay in between switching between 2 guns but not a sword-gun iv noticed the blocking with the sword is not nearly as good and I was getting hit through my blocks. Making the sword meta very overpowered right now. The overly clunky new gun delays and the overpowered sword meta is a real turn off for me. I'm thinking some of these updates were rushed. A balance to the actual damage output of the guns and the ammo capacity of each type of gun is something I would have balanced. Not adding these clunky delays..

  • I dont have a problem with this at all, and maybe is intended because it does holster your weapon.

  • Im perfectly fine with the 1 second delay between shooting, it rewards people who actually aim their shots, as it should.

The only issue i'm having is the one i listed, it made the gameplay extremely clunky, for pve and pvp alike.

Also, sharks are a huge problem since they take 3 sniper shots and 1 pistol now (i belive they need to increase the eoar dmg, but only on skeletons and npcs, it was needed on players)

  • Dont over-exaggerate it. It is not extremely clunky or problematic. When you sprint, your weapon holsters. I am sure they were very much aware of this and is there for a good reason. From what I think, it is nowhere near the same level of clunky as missing sword attacks that have you walk slow.

If you are a gun user, you just have to take that half second extra into consideration. I prefer the controller, and versus gunpowder skeletons I always jump and turn. By that time, it is ready to fire. Just a tiny bit of adjustment is all it requires and itl make sense.

  • Well, everyone i talk to agrees that not being able to shoot/aim after sprinting is clunky.
This update made everything more fast paced, which honestly is great, removing the slow from the sword was good, they might need to tweak the stunlocking, but other than that it was great.

Allowing us to shoot after running won't hurt anyone.

  • Just realized the sword is instantly ready to use after sprinting
Same goes for everything else, buckets, shovel, etc.

    Doesn't seem to be intended.

  • @silenius-x agree it's so annoying.

  • its just the animation for pulling up your gun, its not a bug or an issue

  • @d4m0r3d Oh it is an issue, bug or not.
Tell me why the sword doesn't has that then?

  • @silenius-x cause with a sword you need to get close to be able to use it. with a gun, oh a guy is about 10 or more meteres away, i have time to pull out my gun and shoot them. with a sword its oh a guy 10 or more metres away im going to pull out my gun. you only use a sword when oh poo a guy is 2 metres away quickkkk i need my sword

  • @d4m0r3d said in [SERIOUS ISSUE] Sprint resetting the ability to aim your guns and shoot.:

Yeah but the animation is supposed to be only for switching weapons...not after sprinting every single time. It's 100% an issue and probably not intended, they just didn't code it to not happen when sprinting.

  • @borges1091 yea ok it might be a bug but im not looking at it as an issue, its only like half a second the only time i can imagine you needing to use your gun faster than half a second is if they are point blank, but at that range hipfire aint gon work, so why not use your sword

  • @d4m0r3d Yeah, you didn't convince me.

  • @silenius-x convince you what?

  • @d4m0r3d That pulling a sword after spriting is fine, but a gun isn't.
Regardless i don't want to use a sword, i enjoy tracking flicking and predicting over buttonmashing.

because I have good aim and using a sword in pvp against 1v3 or 1v4 is less effective. That's not the point it slows down PVP a ton and it feels super sluggish and unnatural. It isn't needed, since everyone was complaining about double gunning they got what they wanted.

  • @borges1091 Well dude, you might want to take a look at the sword if destroying people is what you want, it takes virtually no skill to mow through people, just circlestrafe around them, jumping and buttonmashing, if someone stunlocks you look at them and block.
The removal of the slowdown made that thing stupidly busted. (i kinda like it, especially in pve)

It's boring though, i have more fun shooting people.

  • @silenius-x Hey man,

Yeah ive been playing the game since it came out and this is the absolute worse update they have release.

You can not run and hip fire as it delays for about 1.5 sec.
You can't run and ADS as it has about 2 sec delay.

You cant swim move and ads if you are in a under water fight as you have massive delay trying to get the aim to work.

Also I am still able to double gun and at the same speed as before.

The solution to this issue without breaking the game was to only let us use one gun,

What they have done is a complete and utter mess its literally broken all combat in the game. Good luck running from a skelly with powder keg turning around and shooting them with that delay.

    Double Gun:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Seaofthieves/comments/anuha0/you_can_still_double_shot_i_wont_say_how_but/

  • The fix to this would to remove these clunky animations and just add a delay between firing.

Let us shoot then quickly ads the pistol, but make us wait the 1 second, not hard.
It was fool proof, and somehow they messed it up.

They fix the sword but broke the guns.

To be honest, im all for letting us carry 2 guns and the sword, would make this game so much more enjoyable and fun, both in pve and pvp.

  • @silenius-x

    Hey,

Yeah they took the best part of SoT which was the simple and great working combat and screwed it up plus you can still double shoot like you use to before the update. All you have to do is cycle the weapons and shoot before the animations finish....

  • @d4m0r3d I agree that i dont like that easwell, im fine with the delay of gun switch but why do they slow us down when we already have it equipped ans sprinting its slowing the battle speed and annoying and is it only or something is wrong with the skeletons?
    Weaker or something like that.

  • @ticklepantzz You cant use double gunning that is nonsense you csn two weapons but the problem that it was one shot kill, if you hit with the first shot you wont miss the second one.

  • @faceyourdemon Hey dude check the video.... I added. Double guns till works..
In fact its basically just as fast as before I submitted a ticket

In fact check more forums posts people are also complaning about it.

  • Oh snap, dangerous this is .

  • @silenius-x
If you think this is a bug and isn't intended, you should place a bug ticket through the support page.

Rare Doesn't use the forums for bug reports.

  • @ticklepantzz I must say that most of the time i am right XD but i havent seen it apologize and i was wrong (for the first time in my life)

  • @silenius-x yeah I have to agree with this. I am fine with having to ready your weapon after you swap, but sprinting shouldn't do it, it's a pain for PVE reasons.

  • I'm fine with the weapon switch specific animation being forced, that's fine. However going from sprint to weapon draw should remain quick. Here's why:

    1. Gunpowder Skeleton's - Indirect buff to Gunpowder Skeletons. With drawing your initial gun taking longer it becomes much more trickier to detonate them at a proper distance. Sure players can adapt, it just feels very clunky considering the sword's draw is smooth.

    2. Boarding - This is a slight nerf to boarding, because it limits options players can use when immediately climbing the ladder of a ship. Boarding can already be easily defended, due to players lacking any form of counter besides letting go of the ladder and re grabbing to juke a bullet. Having the option to shoot after immediately letting go of ladder at least gave the option for a player to wound/kill an opponent.

    3. Sprinting in fights - Being mobile in this game is in general a good strategy. With the removal of the sword swipe slow kiting isn't really relevant. It would be nice to keep kiting as a relevant strategy.

When it comes to running, its not like you are actually putting away the weapon. From a practical sense you would just be running with the weapon in hand, not holstering.

  • Also this fixes the bunny hoppers, jumping all about and shooting you

  • @danzigthegreat1

I didnt really fix anything.... bunny hopper are part of all games thats like saying I just want people to stand still during fights the fact is you cant even run from a gunpowder skelly turn around quickly and shoot him. All combat has been made very sluggish and very non natural I mean.... like in real life you can run and aim? Either way its a fairly terrible solution that did not fix the core problem that was double gunning. All it did was make you sluggish and cause the game to feel just strange and ackward.

  • @silenius-x I have not had this problem. But, then, I stop sprinting and simply run before I shoot - this in essence, negates the 1 sec cooldown... you are still running while bringing out your weapon.

Basically, anytime you put your weapon away, you get the delay before you shoot as you "ready" the weapon. This makes sense. The way to avoid it when sprinting is to stop sprinting and just run while you are pulling out your weapon.

My question is why are you pulling out a weapon with a gunpowder skellie close enough to be a headache?

@Ticklepantzz In real life you can't effectively sprint and aim.

I'm enjoying the weapon adjustments. Haven't used it in PvP, but skellies are so much more fun to kill now.

  • @silenius-x They literally explain all of this in the patch notes:

"Double-Gun Switching – The Pistol, Blunderbuss and Eye of Reach have new wield animations and enforce a delay when equipping and switching between these weapons."

It's not an issue nor a bug.

  • @ticklepantzz If youll tell anyone that i was wrong i will **king kill you! Thanks man :)
