Kraken Loot

  • At the moment for the sloop it seems very difficult to obtain the loot from a Kraken fight during the fight with it dropping when the tentacles are down. Throughout multiple fights when ive gone for loot ive been sunk. When i havent gone for loot, ive finished the Kraken but lost a majority of loot despite killing it as quickly as possible. I understand the simple fix would be to run away and leave the area and not fight it (forgetting about potential loot) but i dont like the idea of that.

Recommended change: Have the loot drop from the last tentacle that drops so that the loot can be collected if possible.

Im not looking for the game to hold my hand by any means, just after a more reliable system given its such a hard but great fight to want to do!

Food for thought and love your game/work! Thank you!

  • @craven-heathen I totally agree with you. It takes a long time from the first tentacle to the last. Seeing as skulls and chest sink pretty quickly this would be a great solution.

  • I like the risk / reward aspect of it. You can get more loot, but you risk losing it all.

Tho I think the chests and skulls could be sinking slower in general which would make even the Kraken fight easier.

  • when fighting the kraken make sure you anchor or raise sails so you dont move to far away

  • @d4m0r3d I do that when I want to fight, its just the fight goes for more than 10 minutes on most ships (ive played with many random crews and most struggle) so most loot is lost. Its almost impossible to win and take all the loot when no other event is that punishing with reward.

Im just saying atm, the fight isnt worth the time, resources and payday. I love the fight but just dislike the loot design because it pushes me away.

  • @craven-heathen Im even down to make the fight a bit harder as long as the pay day was semi-guaranteed.

  • A few days ago the kraken threw me and I landed a little bit out of the ink. Being out of the ink I could see the bottom of the tentacles. Try to imagine the bottom of the tentacle where it cuts off. That base in the shape of a circle looked like it had a glint directly in the center of it. As the tentacle moved around and twisted, the very bottom of it would tilt different directions exposing what I thought was treasure in the base of the tentacle. I wondered if it's possible that every tentacle has one piece of treasure in it, and it's released when that specific tentacle is defeated.

  • @craven-heathen no wayyyyy it takes 10 mins on a solo sloop or 2 man sloop. you only need to kill 3 arms, thats like 10 cannon balls per arm to kill them. thats about 3 mins i reckon

  • @d4m0r3d fastest cannoneer in the seas this lad!

  • Jeez no kidding. Faster then all them cow polk fer sure.

Either way, the loot drop is a little rediculous - i saw a post about adding a flare that can be thrown / shot into the water to mark a position... which would work so dang well in this scenario

  • @craven-heathen go shoot 10 cannon balls man it takes like 10 seconds 20 seconds max

  • @testakleze that is how it is, every tentacle drops loot

  • I already opened a thread on this.

    i totally agree!

  • literally had a day 1 player on my sloop yea, and we seen a kraken spawn on a brig, the brig left it without shooting one cannon at it and we went and killed it, we had to kill all 8 arms i think. after we did it i asked him if he thought it was hard and he was like no that was easy af. and you are here complaining about the sloop one being hard lol. btw i didnt even help the guy, he wanted to do it himself all i did was grab the loot. it was easy

  • the kraken is fine where its at, if anything it should be more difficult but then i see everyone complaining that ai is making them lose lots of treasure

The kraken is not diffcult. The problem is that it's not worthy. You'll spend time fighting the tentacules, repairing your ship. While doing that all the loots will sink. The loots should be located at the same point at the end of the battle as it is for the meg, wich is more interessant to deal with. it takes less canonballs and planks for a decent reward.

  • I think, similarly to everything else being slowed down/stopped in inky water, all loot items should be stuck on the surface with their 'despawn' timers set to a 0 value until the inky water disappears. Then the true sink timer would start.

Just my two cents as a solo slooper.

  • @d4m0r3d I guess that makes it a game of luck. Sometimes when you defeat it, some tentacles just leave. I'm not sure if they drop the treasure they have despite not being defeated like the rest. If those are the ones with the good treasure in them and they don't drop it when they leave, then you end up with sugar and foul skulls from the tentacles that actually did drop stuff. Can anyone verify that a tentacle that ran away once the kraken was defeated dropped its treasure?

  • @D4m0R3d "I do that when I want to fight, its just the fight goes for more than 10 minutes on most ships (ive played with many random crews and most struggle)" Do you read things before you type? For some reason I think you made up that 'day 1 player' story but thats an assumption.

To be honest the kraken fight should be the same for every ship, not 3 tentacles for a sloop and more for others. Having a forced 'easy mode' on the sloop and 'medium' for brig seems silly. Does the baby kraken only attack sloops and the teen kraken attack brigs only? With no discerning visual aspect that differentiates between them, it kind of seems stupid to me.

  • @testakleze yea once you defeat the right amount of tentacles the other tentacles leave and do not drop loot. only ones you kill do

  • @craven-heathen no i didnt, the guy is my friend. he downloaded the game and we went did 1 voyage, half way through we encountered the brig who got cought in the kraken and they ran and we killed it

  • @craven-heathen you realise if it was hard mode on a sloop you would struggle even more finding your loot.

  • @craven-heathen maybe its just the kraken loses three arms and is like this ship is tiny anyways i should just leave it alone, then when it fights galleons its like ouch my three arms but look at it, its so big and yummy

  • @ef-bobzesponge kraken is fine, you just need to change your mindset and learn how to fight and collect from it. and anyways i would love the kraken even if it didnt drop any loot. stop thinking you deserve anything from them, they are supposed to be an ai threat not a present

As said, the kraken is fine as it is. The only problem is the location of the loots. All the loots should be located under the last tentacule when it's defeated and not under all tentacules. the reward is not equal to the time and the resources spent to kill it.

  • no i mean its good that each tentacle drops loot, it makes it then so that you need to go to that tentacle and loot it. i like that, and remember the kraken never used to drop anything so just be gratefull for what you get. and what i mean by change your mindset is instead of collecting after its dead have one of you go collect loot while you are fighting it, change your playstyle would ave been better to say

  • @ef-bobzesponge and the monsters in the game arent supposed to be rewards dude they are enemies, you shouldnt be like yes a kraken omg i cant wait to get this loot, its supposed to be omg nooooo a kraken we need to try and survive

  • @craven-heathen I'm torn on this, on one side I agree on the other side I think it makes it a challenge to collect it while you fight. Now if I was on a sloop I could see it nearly impossible to collect.

  • @ef-bobzesponge dont you like the feeling of being rewarded for each and every tenticle, it just makes it like yess! thats one tentacle you know?

  • @zormis im almost always solo sloop, what i do is raise sails , kill the kraken and loot. if you raise sails all the loot isnt too far away, and on a sloop it takes like 2 to 3 mins to kill a kraken

Well that's good for you. No i'm not rewarded for each tetacule beacause everything sinks before i can get it. So it would be better to have everything under the last tetacule. Otherwise it's worthless. That discussion is over!

    Solo sloop = Hard play

  • Yeah, why would you have to have work with it and risks? Why doesn't the Kraken pay into your account at the merchant himself?

  • @ef-bobzesponge just get good, learn how to aim the cannon. are you pc or xbox? if on pc wasd moves cannon way quicker but you can aim with the mouse to get a better shot, if the kraken is trying to suck you up you either go below deck or shoot its mouth and it does alot of dmg to the tentacle. if you do this, it should only take you 5 mins max and all the loot should still be there

  • @nefrit-od not even bro, i solo sloop all the time and the game is easy, i think kraken and meg should be buffed, the only thing that can sink me is skelly ships if i have no supplies wich is rarely or real players wich is rarely aswell, alot of noobs rn so its super easy to even 1v4 galleons, i even found that it was harder for me to win pvp when i had team mates, idk why
