@knifelife How in the world does it sounds hypocritical?
Did just searched random words on Google?
Pc players vs xbox controllers
@faceyourdemon Yes, but even with adding the KB/M support, PC still has other advantages over console. So to say that is the answer to cross play is mistaken. The only way to fix it is to have max limits everyone is stuck with. Either that or end cross play... Which I for one would rather not see happen.
@faceyourdemon Refresh rates on visuals is much better and sharper on PC than on console. When I turn using mouse on my PC, I see what I am turning into much quicker than I do when I am on my console.
Oh, and I have played on both PC and Console. Still play both. I also have played with KB/M, controller, hardwired controller and elite controller. So I am very familiar with what set ups have the most advantages.
Edit: I should note that my console is XbOneX with external SSD to maximize video and speed of spawning/game play. So even with the highest end set up on my console, PC is still better. And my PC is not truly a gaming pc, just a regular pc with some minor upgrades.
@badassfro People shouldn’t be punished for what platform they play on, but they should have a right to a balanced experience if they so choose.
It’s why I believe optional input matchmaking should be added. Fortnite done it and they have nailed crossplay so well. It’s how all games should aspire to add it.
They done it so well even Sony was forced to add it because of all the outrage.
@nofears-fun Do you think that everyone holds super mega pc?
most of the time rendering is better on Xbox in most cases and only if you have a mosnter pc in your house then maybe and what do you mean visuals?
I am better because the water looks nicer on my pc?
Give me a break@faceyourdemon By visuals I mean rendering. And trust me, my PC is not that good. But yet, I can turn and see my target much faster on PC, as on console it does take a second for everything to render correctly if I turn rapidly.

@nofears-fun That could be ghosting from your TV and not your console.
Maybe, though I just bought the TV a couple of months ago, and bought it specifically because I got the XbOneX with the higher end graphics output. I had an older smaller TV at first, and the graphics are definitely better and more reliable now than they were before, but I suppose anything is possible.

If its blurry when turning fast, then it is definitely your TV - the game doesn't add any blur effects. You might be able to fix it by enabling Game Mode, changing the refresh rate (if possible), disabling extra processing settings on your TV (dynamic contrast, etc..) and using the screen calibration tools in your xbox.
If the game on XBox runs at 30fps and your TV is at 120mhz, its going to try to fill in the extra space between frames.
@nofears-fun compared to my huge 4K UHD OLED TV, which I use my xbox when gaming, my PC monitors are slow, blurred, washed-out, of low-contrast.
The fiddling with the PC control - each menu has a different button to close! - is bad. The controller has clear and consistent control. Except the box, seats and rowing in the rowing boat.
The disadvantages during normal play outweigh the advantages of control in combat. I can aim a little better with a mouse - but on a worse picture I still can't hit better. By the way, it's just practice. I move the mouse back and forth at work for 8 hours each day, but the controller is used for a few hours a week.

Here's a keyboard and mouse for XBox players! Enjoy!
For the small small price of $250!!!!!
Think I’m going to have to pass on that one lol!
Now to actually be helpful in this discussion. It's been a long time since I saw one of these and I will impart my usual wisdom.
All of these arguments assume the PC overlords are all running top of the line machines with RTX 2080 Tis and i9 9900ks with 64gigs of RAM, overclocked up the wazoo and mechanical keyboards with sensitivity adjustable mice and big HDR 4k monitors.
The reality is that most PC players have had to cut corners. Some do it by getting cheaper peripherals and are running 24inch 1080p monitors on a basic microsoft KB&M combo.
Some have fancy peripherals but have to cut back on all of their internals and are pushing to get 30fps at middling quality... in fact most PC players are averaging about 40fps and not running at mythical graphics.I get sick of people assuming that we all have mega rigs running at amazing refresh rates and using excellent peripherals and are as such somehow better off. Because most of us are lucky to have a quarter if that.
A lot of us just have the desktop that we bought for doing our taxes on.@daveyjay1984 yep. I run on a Bootcamped Macbook Pro; I get slightly better loading times then my Xbox crewmates for initial load-in, but basically the same for Ferry/mermaids. Not all PC players have an advantage.

This is honestly getting ridicilous....
Have think i’m closing in on about 500h on this game. Even though i run with my day 1 crew on a galleon, all 4 of us is getting slayed over and over by a solo PC player. We have no chance. The differences is night and day. Each time this happens i am thinking about quitting and take a couple of days brake.I was the king on the seas in the early days of the game, when i faced Xbox players mostly. Nowadays i am scared of everyone. I dont Wanna engage boats anymore, because what if it’s a PC player, then i am screwed, not matter what i/my crew do.
I Wanna be confident on the seas again with all those hours and experience i have in this game.
Atleast let us choose if we wanna play on cross-platform servers or not.

Not bad looking to be honest, for an Xbox KB&M. Will stick to the Hunstsman Elite on my PC, but my wife might like to give this one a whirl on the Xbox!
I didnt put much stock in this when I started the game on xbox. But I switched to playing on my PC as of the last few months. Im like a marksman with the mouse and keyboard. Sniping guys on other ships and winning most of my 1v1 combats. Even 1v2 or 3 sometimes.
The combat is miles better on PC. Though the game looks nicer on my TV through the xbox and doesnt freeze up out of nowhere and kick me like the PC tends to do. Give and take.@marrl Yeah, sorry about that. Trolls - they really know how to get ya, am I right?
Personally, with the:
- new higher sensitivity settings,
- access to the Elite and inclusive controllers,
- upcoming combat changes, and
- mouse and keyboard support,
I think SoT on Xbox One is about to find itself in a really good place pretty soon.
@pronessie I am a PC player. I do not have aimbot. I do not have aim assist. I have a mouse that has the capability to move with precision via my wrist and arm. I am able to aim based off of distance moved. Controllers on the other hand move off of a time-based constant value. As long as you are holding a direction, you will move there. I have spent thousands of hours playing FPS games and I understand aiming and tracking. However, you don't always need the best aim to win.
That's some bad luck, and expensive in the controller budget.
What component broke? They're just jellybean patrs that can easily be replaced, in a lot of cases upgraded to vastly better quality for very little money.
Was it the same failure mode both times? I haven't had any issues yet, but I'll be on the look out.
@galactic-geek That's interesting, I tried an Elite controller yesterday. They work great for SoT, I love my other controller but I'm not sure I can go back to it now. It's a lot of money though and if I'm shelling out that much on a controller I'd expect it to last at least as long as a less expensive one.
I particularly enjoyed using a longer thumbstick for aiming, much snappier aim, so snappy that I needed to lower my aiming sensitivity.
I'll probably take the plunge and buy one regardless. Using the paddles for jumping/running/use/switch weapon is a much more fluid and less fiddley gaming experience versus the standard controller.
The Elite is great. Use it myself, I however haven't been tempted to use the paddles.
Tried it a couple of times, I simply end up "tripping up" over myself as it were. I'm sure with a little more practice I could master it a little better. The standard controller is great, the Elite is another level.
Yes the cost is pretty high... managed to get a new one off ebay for £95 which I was very pleased with. Before I bought I did look at other options, ie. Scuf controllers.
After looking at reviews, it was a fairly easy decision & I haven't looked back.Just a thought... It's been a while since I've used the paddles for SoT.
From memory I would check if you can re-bind the keys to those functions, I have a thought you can only remap certain functions.
If I get a chance later I'll have a look myself.@piratecraggy try the paddles. I set it up with left lower as run, left upper as use, right lower as jump and right upper as switch weapon.
That way you always have your thumbs on the sticks and can run, jump and switch weapons much easier on the move.
The best bit is that the face buttons still do what they always did so you can learn the paddles while still using your regular settings, so when things get intense and muscle memory takes over you'll still get the job done until the paddles become automatic too.
Or at least I hope so, there's a 60% chance that this will be an unneccessary purchase and the only reason I'm interested is that it's payday in January and I finally have money again.
@piratecraggy yeah you can't rebind individually. So a paddle will replicate a face button but you can pick which one.
I went with press left thumbstick, A button, X button, Y button. That gave me the most utility. Emptying a barrel with two clicks of the paddles is pretty hot too.
Cheers! I know what I'm going to try later!
I certainly will give it another go, it's been a few months since I last tried for SoT.
Who knows... might make me a better Pirate! :) Fingers crossed. That's very interesting; if mine kicks the bucket ill have to figure out exactly what the failure mode is and address it. Whatever inside these controllers that is breaking cannot cost more than 10 bucks; that being the analog sticks. The rest of the components are so cheap that it's a shocker how much they charge for the controller, but then again it kinda isn't because of how cheap the X-box actually is.. I think they're trying to make up for the loss that is the X-box with a imbalanced profit margin that is the controller and "service", etc.
I cannot see where they are making any money on the X-box it self; I would be willing to bet its a loss leader to take over market share and their money is made on the software and service side + "extras" like the SSD and Elite controller, etc.
