"Hidden Vaults of Legends", aka DUNGEONS in Sea of Thieves!

  • Hello everyone! As the title says my suggestion is to add dungeons in the game. Now, my friends and I are not legends yet, and we are not really rushing into getting the legendary status as we are not really looking forward to the Athena's voyages, which are just very long, mixed regular voyages we've been doing since launch.
So I thought one thing that should be added are secret dungeons, or vaults, hidden across the map, accessible only to legends with the shanty, just like they do in the taverns. In this secret underground areas you would find ghosts of past legends that will fight you like normal players would, with swords and guns, skeletons and traps. Exploring the secret rooms of the dungeon, you'll uncover many secrets of the world's past, for those lore enthusiast like myself. And at the end you'll find a vault, like in the Skull Forts. A boss fight would start with a Skeleton Lord or a Ghost boss. And then inside there will be a legendary chest, a new legendary skull and maybe a legendary item for the Merchant's Alliance, and some other loot. These would be the legendary version of Skull Forts, and should provide a nice activity for legends, who imo by the time they reach legendary status, the last thing they want to do is keep doing the same stuff as everyone else.

Initially I wanted this to be an exclusive, endgame activity for Legends only, since Athena's are quite boring and tedious imo. But as a non legend, I would also love this to be an activity anyone can enjoy. Maybe the middle ground would be that if you join in a crew with a legend, or even better, you form an alliance with one, you can then open the passage using their shanty. Than you can raid these dungeons as an alliance. Or, just make it an activity anyone can do, legend or not.

Now, "What about the ship?". Good question, and I'm still not quite sure how that would work. Since going dungeon crawling would take some time, your ship would be left alone vulnerable for attacks. Either leave someone on board, or maybe as soon as you enter the dungeon your ship vanishes? This is the biggest issue I've found in my idea, so maybe you can help me find a solution?
First suggestion I got was to have your whole ship get teleported in a separate instance, could be something cool like the Kraken dragging the ship into the depths or something more supernatural like a portal or a magical fog.

    Thoughts?

The Dev's drew inspiration from the "Goonies"... so you never know.
Maybe "Dungeons/Treasure Caves" are somewhere on a distant roadmap, hopefully full of "b00by-traps"!!
