For the love of Thieves. Add Brightness/HDR brightness settings in this game

  • Simply. This game is way too dark. Alot of people are still complaining on forums and reddit but they never get a clear answer. I also know lot of people don’t even have HDR Tv’s so they play this game in a pretty high brightness compared to HDR,(that’s how they made it in this game). it’s obvious. Not all people play with black good covered curtains. What if we want some light in our house/room? We can’t. Because we won’t see a thing but our reflections.

Hdr on: Night is pitchdark. Which makes a big disadvantage for HDR players. Can’t see anything on the sea’s/caves/in ships and other darker area’s.Daylight is alright, but also slighty darkish. Full sunlight should not make this game dark tho.

Hdr off: Night is blueish but clearly visable. Advantage against HDR players. Can see everything on the sea’s and other dark area’s.
Daylight is nice bright. Maybe too bright but good enough.

I just wish this game had some brightness options. This game has beautiful graphics, and it’s a big let down for us HDR players are struggling with this. I do not like turning off hdr in this game because it makes everything whiter.

Please let it come in future updates, regards.

  • It is dark if you are using VGA connection instead of DVI or HDMI.

Anyways yeah, this game should have a brightness option.

  • There really should be a brightness setting in the options menu.

  • Fully agreed

  • @oycupofteam8 I complained about the same thing before but a fellow pirate told me to change gamma settings on TV and now it is spectacular.

Yeah but that makes it uglier. And in other games. I have a LED. So everything becomes so much white so no thanks. A very simple brightness slider is good enough

  • @oycupofteam8 What makes it uglier? it will in opposite make it great, I have a LED too, no white, no fog, just fantastic on every game, brightness slider will make it ugly by washing everything out, is your TV 8bits or 10bits? there is a lot of fake HDR TVs out there that will look ugly or useless if you add HDR.

But if you want to have it brighter just turn off HDR, go to Xbox > Settings > Video > HDR Off and problem solved.

I was in denial like you until I tried, now the on HDR and also the PC version look ugly and dull, the HDR version is fantastic, one of the best HDR effects in games.

It's simply wonderful, which makes its omission from the PC version of the game a source of intense disappointment "

I have a LG tv with real hdr and has 10 bits. With gamemode on there’s one gamma option that is turned gray and its set in ‘medium’ and can’t change that. other modes like standard and vivid mode i can change that. I don’t want to set my brightness above 55+ because there the whiteness will be really visable and all black like shadows and indoors becomes really grayish. Like it fogs the screen? Hard to explain

But like i said. This is the only game with HDR that’s way too dark.

I can barely play with when it’s daylight irl. I only see my reflections. I do not have this with other HDR games. My settings are good enough. I love playing around with TV settings and i found what i find good enough for all games. Every game is vivid, beautiful, not dark. But when i go to SoT...

And again. Turning off HDR in SoT. Makes daytimes and nighttimes its pretty bright . But in other non hdr games it looks fine and bright enough. And why would a brightness slider wash out graphics and all? They just should do it Like Ubisoft’s hdr options if it’s possible. That’s the best way imo. You get a image while changing black, paperwhite and brightness.

And yes game is beautiful when i play it in IRL evening/nighttimes because the sun is down and i can see everything more clearer. Even my friends with 1 sony and 1 samsung tv agree with this

  • @oycupofteam8 Turning brightness up or down will not help you with HDR, sorry that it does not look good in your TV as the HDR in this game is the best in its class.

As I've said before you can go to Xbox > Settings > Video and turn HDR Off, then the game will show you night time similar as daylight like it is on PC.

No need to be sorry. I wouldn’t say best in its class since there are still many complains about it. Stop defending them. we can all agree it needs a (little) better system than how it is now. They made the HDR s****y in this game.

Halo mcc, witcher 3, Ac Origins, tomb raiders. and all other great enhanced games looks amazing in HDR and visable. Just dissappointed this game offers average HDR expierence for some

  • @oycupofteam8 Yes indeed I'm sorry for you that you cannot experience the same game I'm experiencing as it is spectacular and I'm not the only once saying that, read that article, it is a good read, I'm not defending anybody unless they pay me to do it and they aren't, and not we cannot all agree because the game looks bad on your tv but good on others.
HDR is in its infancy on Video Games and all games need to be tweaked to get a good effect that pair with c**p HDR cheap TVs will give you a poor viewing experience, if your game is extremely dark at night as I've said before you bump your gamma (not brightness) up to 2.0 or even 1.8 and it will be night and day...jut like it is in PC but without the dullness of washed out colors.
This is not a fight or an argument about anything I only tried to help you with your issue, I did not succeed, you can keep ranting, I'll keep playing on HDR, the difference is fantastic and you can see it here.
