Skeleton Ships after Cursed Sails Discussion

  • Ahoy Maties!
Well, Cursed Sails is almost over.
    Cursed Sails
Anyways, the next big trend in the community right now is how Skeleton Ships are gonna be added to the seas.
    Skeleton Ship

Now what I've taken away from the current political atmosphere around Skeleton Ships is that some people want them to be:

    • An emergent threat in the world.
    • Others want them to be at set naval battle locations.
      Karg

So what I've been able to discern from Rare's announcements/comments is that both ideas on Skeleton Ships will be being added.

Fleets of Skeleton Ships will be waiting at set Navy battle locations. (With clouds over them, alot like Skeleton Forts).
While others will just be roaming the seas solo. (I don't think there's gonna be a cloud over solo Skeleton Ships btw)
    Gog & magog

    • (Please note that: These are just my personal impressions on Rare's comments/announcements, not much has been confirmed yet)

Anyways Mates, how do you think Skeleton Ships should be added to the world?
Until then see ya on the seas!

I am thinking of three ways I would like them to enter. One way being if you had a number of Order of Souls skulls on your ship it would summon a skele ship. The other way would be if you attacked and sank another ship theres a chance it would spawn a skele ship as in the dead pirates come back for revenge on you. Lastly allow a Pirate Legend to drop a quest/challenge to a skele ship for unique PLegend only rewards.

Hmmmmm, I think the reason they're not going to have OoS Skeleton Ship related missions is because their servers can't handle everyone fighting individual Skeleton Ships in different parts of the seas.

But I think your ideas I pretty good mate!

  • They need to tone them down especially the respawn rate on the ship.

  • @dutchyankee
    You and me both mate.

  • In my opinion they should take this opportunity to give the Order of Souls an overhaul. We take a contract to fight the crew of The Bloody Maiden, last sighted sailing off the western shores of Cannon Cove. The skeleton ship could emerge from the deep when the contract holder gets close.

  • @blackfish
That's a great idea, their already giving the Merchant Alliance a new quest type.

  • People will avoid them because they are not fun, require lots of resources, and the AI is insanely bad. Everyone already avoids Meg and the Kraken, and the community by and large continues to pretend like this isn't a problem.

SoT needs all the content that it can get. That said, what it mostly needs is entertaining content.

I feel that they kind of wasted the Meg. People just ignore her now and sail away because after killing her a few times you start to realise that it is just a waste of resources.

I'm afraid that Skellie-Ships, like the Meg, may also end op being more an irritation than a "fun-factor". But I hope not.

Your right, The reason why the meg and kraken are is there just a waste of resources for no benifit. There more like minor obstacles that add a bit of flavor to a ramdom encounter like storms. Except Skelly ships have already proven to have the abilty to carry both loot and resources. So there's an actual benfit to engage one. Especially if they're a good source for CCB.

I agree the A.I. needs improvements.

  • @sgt-palooggoo I want them both to be an emergant encounter like the Meg and a set Encounter with fleets like a skull fort. They are easily capable of serving both functions so why would we have to choose.

You don’t get it, they have Treasure and Skulls on board! There is a Reward to fight them!

Same here mate, Navy battles are alot of fun, but just running into a random Skeleton Ship is too.
    So I want em both.

  • Didn't you guys watch the last episode of devs update on YouTube?

The skeleton ships will remain as it is but work as fortress.
Big gigantic ship cloud marking the battle with the random cursed crew, you go there win and get the loot.

  • @nunoazuldimeter
I did, but I've also heard Rare talk about em just being random encounters.

  • @sgt-palooggoo hummm... Don't know about that... I'm not seeing it coming.
The ship raid however it's confirmed.

  • @nunoazuldimeter
Yeah the Naval Battles raid are confirmed.
Maybe they decided to scrap the idea of Random solo Skeleton Ships.

  • So it acts like Another skull fort?... I thought they would be just roaming the sea

  • @dutchyankee they are thinking of adding rewards to the other ai beasties too XD

  • @sgt-palooggoo I wouldve loved to see a OoS quest expansion done with it. Sail in "this direction" off " this island" kill 1 ship and get a skull. With of course the region battles because those can be intense.
