My Faith Restored by El Crew de la Despacito

  • Last night was a "I'm-down-for-whatever" sort of vibe among my crewmate @Pambonian and I. My time was limited but I wanted to make the most of it, so I suggested we do some Gold Hoarder missions to start; nothing beats the clank of a shovel on top of a freshly upturned chest. But lo, a sloop coming into port! Be it friend or foe?

    "Hullo!" calls out @Spartanlegend95.

He's a lone sailor from the looks of it, but the salt runs thick in my blood from previous encounters. I scan the docks and nearby shore for mermaids and listen for the telltale sound of a water breach...nothing. We welcome him into our alliance with a heartfelt greeting.

    "Suh dude?"

Our confidence grows as we sail West, but soon we decide we're hardly enough to take on a skeleton crew; we scan the horizon for more ships to join the fold. As luck would have it, a galleon and a brigantine join the armada just north of Shark Bait Cove! We rallied at a skull fort to top off our supplies before solidifying our camaraderie with an impromptu dance party backed by a popular Puerto Rican reggaeton folk song (I brought the bass in).

Having ships bearing the same flag sailing just a ways off from each other was a fearsome sight to see as we charged into the waters of the cursed sails. I was at the helm of the Salty Swallow while @Spartanlegend95 and his sloop snagged the interest of a megaladon to lead into the battle, and thankfully she had a nose for crusted bones and didn't attack our allies. After much toil (and even more cannonballs) we finally had our prizes float to the surface. @Pambonian and I had been betrayed before, a hard lesson learned. So while my crew @then1ghtmare24 and @Pambonian were in the water in a flash, I called out across the wreckage.

"Let's parley boy-os. Half your cannons up for truce and cease-fire!"
@Shield-Agent-Oz (I think) called back, "We've got em all up. You're good!"

A small smile spread across my face. Maybe we'd see the booty divided equally after all.
We reached Plunder Outpost without incident--thanks to @Nuuge for the excellent parking job--and celebrated our conquest by drinking and vomiting on each other while drunkenly slurring our battle song as the words faded into the waning island sun rays. Thanks to the crews for letting us surpass their danger zones...despacito.

Sure the game has griefers and scurvy dogs galore, but for 2 hours last night, it was the most cohesive multiplayer experience I've had in years.

  • Hahahaha this is 100% true. We had a ton of fun and splitting the loot was great. We usually do not find people who want to team up and have fun so this was a refreshing change of pace!

  • Thanks for the shout out! It was fun taking those skellies down to Davy Jones Locker!
