Sea of Thieves has been incredibly fun. Every new patch has made it even better. And I'd like to throw another idea to the Rare team that might add more fun to the game.
One of the many things I love about the game is the balance of tradeoffs; Risk VS Reward. For example: you can carry powder kegs on your ship. Useful but dangerous. For every potential reward there is an element of risk. And world events are planned around this (e.g. Skeleton Forts).
Another event could be something the players trigger that could create more opportunity for riches and potential for PvP. Imagine a new NPC ship at port at an outpost. You pay some gold, and the ship departs at a moderate speed to another outpost laden with riches... spices, tea, bananas, or chests, the total value of which would be less than the commission the player paid. Once the ship reached the trade destination, the players who paid into the trade ship would receive back their gold along with a tidy profit.
This leaves the crew who commissioned the trade ship with a range of choice: do you escort the trade ship along its route to make sure no other pirates come to plunder the trade goods? Or do you leave the ship to its fate and hope it gets there unharmed? Or perhaps seek a voyage for some treasure nearby to keep a watchful eye?
Of course this means that with trade ships sailing the seas, they will be ripe targets for pirates to plunder. Choices abound. What say ye?
