An Event Idea

  • These are just some ideas for possible events:
    An Ancient Legacy
For a few weeks, an island will spawn in the exact center of the map. On the island will be a massive ancient temple, filled with lore and wall paintings of beasts and rituals, along with the occasional chest. Worthy pirates must start from the top and work their way down to the bottom, fighting aztec style skeletons and working through a maze of passages filled with traps. Getting to the bottom will pit you against a giant skeleton (think of the figurehead). Killing it will reward you with high amounts of coins and the giant skeleton figurehead.
    The Frozen North
A new area will be temporarily added to the Sea of Thieves map. After purchasing and equipping an icebreaker for your ship which can be bought from the most northern outpost, you can travel there and encounter new arctic seas, complete quests, and become very rich.
    The Kingdom of Fire
I believe this idea has already been suggested but if so i'll just add on to it. This is similar to The Frozen North concept, except apart from an icy tundra, these seas sit under undersea active volcanoes, making islands very dangerous and liable to complete collapse. Somewhat more stable islands tend to erupt steaming lava occasionally. Stepping on lava will kill most pirates and skeletons alike instantly (apart from obsidian skeletons, who will be introduced to the map).
Hopefully you guys like these ideas and that Rare may put them in our favorite pirate game, SoT.

  • @becausescience1 The kingdom of fire is pretty well what's going to be added with the Forsaken Shores Update i guess. I love the idea of an arctic biome as well as the concept of a massive dunjeon to explore with traps and riddles everywhere

  • Pretty nifty concepts. Think a little bit pulls the pirate away from ye sea. Land lovers enjoy mazes. I like the northern concept, but sail boats did not have icebreakers; they had sailors slamming ice. But snow, icebergs, ice creatures..heck yea. Not temp. But permanent expansion. I feel like an ancient area of a map should spawn behind fog, randomly located.

  • I especially like the 'An Ancient Legacy' idea. I think that would be very cool.

  • @becausescience1
I quite like your ideas, although these all sound like fully fledged major updates. This wouldn't be something that can be simply put together for a Bilge Rat Adventure type of event. Great suggestions either way though, keep up the nice work!

    An Ancient Legacy
The idea of having several crews of pirates try to go through a maze with skeletons and traps sounds amazing. A bit like a more complex and bigger skull fort idea with an actual bossfight.

    The Frozen North
Would be nice if you could indeed buy an Icebreaker "Figurehead" that allows you to pass through ice or something.

    The Kingdom of Fire
This one sounds a lot like the stuff they've already announced for the Forsaken Shores. At least there they talked about active vulcanoes, eruptions, rocks flinging through the air.

  • @fishst1ck Yeah i got the Kingdom of Fire idea from that, i cant remember where though. I'm really hoping Rare could look into expanding the current map.

  • @violentandroid That's fair, i cant think of any proper substitutes for icebreakers but i think the northern idea is fine without it.

Hm. Just had a thought. A northern storm would cause the water to freeze, the only way to escape it is to equip an ice pick that the crew use to carve a path to freedom, maybe the same circumference that the kraken currently inhabits once spawned.

  • @violentandroid I like that, but the picks would have to work very quickly to avoid pirates getting bored from hacking at the ice all day. I know it's supposed to be realistic but it's still a game.

  • @becausescience1 yea I was thinking like one hit every 20 or so in-game yards. So like 5 or so hits to allow your ship to push the ice out of your way. Would be a dangerous situation for galleons should a near by sloop have a crack shot.

Gun powder barrels could also do the trick...

  • Some great ideas here. What about visiting the land of the Merfolk? I think the book mentioned something about the ( Need to re-read this) and it would be an interesting addition.

  • @kruskov47 This is an amazing idea, i would love to be able to go underwater and just see this massive palace

  • @violentandroid yeah i like how the choice is:
You can use your pick if your not in a hurry, but if you see an enemy ship on your tail or something you can use a gunpowder barrel, which may end up damaging the ship so it has to be positioned right

  • Love these ideas! Upvoted!
