  • @mrcheezle4204 If you have to create a new thread every 3 minutes, please, come up with something original.

  • Sorry I just thought if enough people posting about the same Idea might get noticed Not to mention until little bit ago I don’t even know how to look for the same topic so thanks

  • Games on board would take away from SAILING...

  • yes, add games to the ships so it makes it easier to attack them since they won't be paying attention.

What's wrong with the option for games...? Any additions are good additions. You can choose not to play games and just sit on the sail and wait for the wind to turn if that's what you'd like. But yesterday I was sailing with my crew from one end of the map to the other and there was a moment where it got quiet, cause we had nothing else to do while on our way to our objective.

We need ship games. Fishing, poker, liars dice. It would be perfect to prevent those odd quiet moments of boredom.

If you hope to sail effectively and quickly anywhere without crashing into something or getting attacked, your entire crew needs to be on top of things at all times - if you want a game, that's it right there... If that bores you, then find another game.

  • Since the flag that was added did not exist until 1978 (I don't care, just pointing out the fact that it is a modern symbol) then I suggest Space Invaders. It came into existence around the same time and holds just as much relevance in the world.

    space invaders

Should have actually posted my thoughts on this btw. There does not need to be any time-consuming on ship games in SoT. Maybe dice you can throw down, or coin flips if you are bored... but when you are on ship there is not any down-time really. You should always be watching sails or scanning the horizon from your post.

  • @galactic-geek Wow, salty...

I dunno, i've found that if you are even remotely capable, sailing really isn't all that difficult. And if you chart a reasonable course, and lock the wheel in place, there is always downtime

If you are constantly having to be "on top of things at all times" to avoid crashing into something then it sounds like either your sailing skills need a bit of work, or you are bizarrely sailing around in heavy storms at all times

Also...not everyone is in a constant footrace to collect treasure as "efficiently" as possible. I mean sure, making money is fun for awhile, but eventually you have way more than enough, have your character outfitted the way you like, and at that point the treasure hunt/skull hunt gets boring extremely fast. Let's face it...at heart this is a rather basic barebones game. The fun comes from the adventure far more than the loot

Personally I enjoy the experience of scallywagging about with friends, screwing around, having fun, and engaging in some random piracy. I think some simple side games would be more than welcome

Sailing is easy, but doing so optimally? Not as easy, especially with an ignorant or lazy crew along for the ride. Also, you can't "lock" the helm - you can straighten it out, sure, but unless your hands are on it, you will eventually drift left or right with the wind and waves' direction... Mini-games are great, but not if it takes away from the primary purpose of this game itself...

  • Meh maybe at outposts. That's the last thing I need is more distractions for my crew mates out there. We have enough useless water watching sailors out there as it is. Only things I want my crewmates focused on out there are as follows - wind, navigating, game plan & other pirates!

  • @galactic-geek Well, then i'd say not to forget that your "primary purpose" in this game may be different than someone elses.

I lost interest in the same old basic treasure hunts a long time ago. It's a pretty shallow experience after you've done it 100 times. The fun I find at this point is all about sailing around with friends and basically making our own fun, and that rarely comes from endless fetch quests (playing hide and seek for as long as possible on enemy ships is a current fav)

Hell, just a few nights back we ended up GIVING our treasure away after attacking a sloop, watching it crash repeatedly into rocks, chatting with the guy and realizing he was brand new and really didn't know what he was doing. I even helped him patch his boat, and we ended up taking him around to do the throne event, and then my buddy even took us to the legendary hideout to show it to him. It was a lot of fun, we made a new friend to sail with, and was about 1000 times more enjoyable than doing cut and paste voyages

  • I think having games like poker, darts and blackjack in the taverns is a better idea then games on the ships. I mean, dice sounds like a good ship game, but anything else is unnecessary. I really think they should make more use of the tavern then just a place to get to the legend hideout.

Seriously, the Tavern could be used so much better.

  • I've had many occasions where there is nothing to do on the ship. All sails are with the wind and the helm is secure. So we just play music because we have nothing else to do. A game of cards would break that monotony.

Regardless, I don't see why someone would be opposed to an optional mini game that is present just in case.

  • Liars dice

  • I'm all for more things to do while sailing. Fishing is coming in a few months, but other things would be good too.

Someone above said there's no time to play games because sailing takes all your attention. To that I say, what if you don't want to sail? Or maybe you've been sailing around with your mates doing voyages for a couple hours and maybe just want to take a break and chill and do some other fun things on your ship for a few minutes? What if you log in with three friends, get the ship all stocked up and are waiting for another friend to sign on and fill out the crew? I can think of a lot of instances where having other things to do on board would be fun. It all comes down to giving us more options.

  • If you guys think the sailing is boring, then you need to find another game; frankly, I find it incredibly relaxing...
