Multi-Island Riddles

  • Forgive me if this is a repeat topic (and probably is), but I would love to see riddle quests that take you to multiple islands. Same concept as the usual riddles, but instead of searching for different parts of the same island, you would have to find your next clue on a subsequent island. And for the hassle of traveling from island to island, the reward would be more substantial.

  • I like this idea!

  • Riddles like the Hungery Deep journal quests! Yes please!

  • I’ve been coming up with my own, but I’d love if Rare added them. They’d be great for Pirate Legends with an Athena’s chest at the end.

Here is the latest one I did - The Quest for Black Caesar’s Bounty: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=O3IwfjE8Szk

The prize was over 16k gold worth of chests, skulls, and merchant items (teas, silks, etc...) It’s still a rough concept, lots out of my control, and we felt we needed to rush for fear the loot would despawn. It did on the first multi-island riddle quest I created. Thankfully, this time round I only lost 1 skull to despawning. The first time everything despawned except 1 villainous skull - the last item I’d placed.

I think if Rare took this on, it’d be a great addition to the game.

  • Ahoy!

Would love to see Rare's opinion on this idea and how they (may) decide to execute it, it would really make it feel like an old fashioned treasure hunt, going from place to place discovering new clues!

Very nice suggestion. Though, maybe they could compensate us a little more for the extra effort. ;)

  • @lucky-capt-jack Definitely would love to see this happen and @Bran-the-Ent I think your quests are absolute magic!

  • One possible way Rare could implement this: you could start with an X map and the first part of the riddle - both for the same island - the riddle containing the clue that will lead you to the next island. You go dig up the riches, solve the riddle, and head to the next island. Once you get there, you get a new X map for treasure and a new riddle. And, for Pirate Legends, the final riddle would lead to a final chest.

There are so many ways to see things in this game and many good riddle possibilities. As you can see in the video, some of these types things occur only from certain angles - Cannon Cove looking like the hairy chest of a man lying on his back in the water, or a rock and Plunder Valley combining to look like the profile of a Devil with his mouth agape. Or it could be more basic - there’s a mast yard on Hidden Spring Keep, for example, that points directly at Lone Cove. Would love to see Rare make use of the terrain like this more.
