So I missed the first week of hungering deeps and today when I played all of the hype seems to have died down with fighting megalodon, I waited 20 min at shark bait for people to sail with me and no one came. (We tried it once when it first came out, but we failed) so are the cosmetics worth waiting on other people? Also what are they? Thanks in advance.

Well its a scar of a jaws bite and maybe three tattoos I think.
There is also mention of a four-eyed shark figurehead for your boat. Not sure if that's a freebie or just a limited time option to buy.There's also a drum, something different for us to beat on those long, lonely, cold voyages. :o)
For killing Meg:
- Shark figurehead (different to the one in the shop)
- Shark bite tattoo
- Shark Slayer title (for 0g from clothing shop)
There are other items you get for doing the first part of The Hungering Deep:
- Tattoos (from looking in the cosmetics chest near Merrick)
- Speaking Trumpet (when you start Merrick's quest)
- Drum (when you return to Merrick after reading 3 journals)
- Shark Hunter title when you read all Merrick's journals

Actually, you get the “Shark Hunter” Title for reading all of Merrick’s Journals and you get the “Shark Slayer” Title for defeating Meg.

The figurehead is awesome. The 4 eyes glow green similar to how the horn on the unicorn figurehead glows ghostly blueish. Other than that it’s just the scar and the “Shark Slayer” Title. It’s up to you if it’s worth it. It’s too bad this update turned out the way it did. It started off strong, but now we have situations like what you’re experiencing. I do feel like Rare wanted this to be a community experience, however it does need some tweaking to perfect it.

- When you find all three of Merrick's Journals:
Shark Hunter title - Purchase from any clothing shop for 0 gold
- When you talk to Merrick after finding all three Journals:

Drum of the Deep - In your equipment chest
- When you initially kill Meg:
Shark Bite scar - In your vanity chest
Shark Slayer title - Purchase from any clothing shop for 0 gold
- After you kill Meg and talk to Merrick:
Hungering One Figurehead - In ship customization chest
