Hungering Deep and multiplayer options

  • I understand why Rare made it 5 people as they want to drive more multiplayer interaction but the fact that you can't grab five of your friends and all join on the same server is ridiculous. I had 6 people tonight but could never get the two groups of people to join to the same server. Just a joke. We really want to play this game but you're making it silly hard to do the things most people will want to do.

Now I also understand why you don't allow hoards of people to all join the same server as well as this would make most servers unbearable with all the group griefing that would carry on.

How about PVE mode servers where you can allow people to join as many as they like onto a server as a group etc. People who enjoy playing the game without PVP combat, enjoy doing the quests without fear of losing their bounty. Could join as a group to meet silly requirements like 5 people to complete a quest.

I feel you're trying to meet too many game models in the one game space which is making it not fun for a whole percentage of your players.

  • @bulldognz honestly, at this point i think they have to ride this ship until it either sinks, or rides off into the sunset. if they change anything now the game will literally die right there and then, it's that bad currently.

  • I disagree, I truly believe they need a PVE mode. They must've lost a heap of players over griefing in the first few months and then they create a quest that requires (and highlights) the games short coming in that you can't have more than four of you playing together at once.

I would have played this much more in a PVE mode. I'm past the age where I have so much time on my hands to collect loot only to have a someone steal it all off you before hand in.

Now imagine that same lack of time x 6 of my mates all managing to get together only to find we can't join the same server as a group.

  • So the way we get 2 ships on a server is we start a galleon, find another galleon or sloop and just ask really nicely if they are willing to leave and invite one of us onto their ship before they do. (Done this twice now worked both times) that was we have two ships on the go and can even summon it and let someone fight it solo on a sloop :P

  • Completely agree here, a PVE or passive mode is needed. I think the ability to be able to play freely without someone undoing your good work, which you could have spent hours getting.

  • Pve mode would be unfear! People will join that server and grind gold like its nothing. Then spend it on the most expencive cosmetics avalable in game. What about the people who earned it the hard way? It would mean nothing annymore. And beside that, it would force me to play in those servers to keep up and look cool and I won't want that! I really like the pvp tension without it it would be a lame p***y game, might aswell put in flowerpicking, real pirate like.....think again!

  • They’ve stated already no PvE servers. That is not the game.

I’ve no problem finding people in the area T26 or at Shark Bait looking to do event

  • @boldgame So make the achievements slightly different to show you got them in a PVP environment rather than PVE. If People wish to grind gold go for it. People are grinding gold now. I guess that's the point. Here's my point, I don't want what other people are doing other than my crew to affect my gameplay. Or at least provide us an option where if we want to go all out pirate we can...or not.

  • @bulldognz
So your tired of your loot stolen? Did u read the title of the game?
A PVE server is a slap in the face to anyone who has defended their loot. Its a slap in the face to all the legends who protected themselves and their loot to get there.
Rare has stated multiple times they dont want you to feel safe.

  • Guys. Haha. They won’t do a PvE mode. That takes away the core of the game. If you don’t like the possibility of being attacked by... PIRATES... why are you playing a PIRATE game? You’re better off going back to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Arguing for there to be essentially a “safe” mode in a sandbox pirate game is the silliest thing I’ve seen. “I want to be a pirate, but I really hate being attacked and stolen from!” It contradicts the very nature of the game. Lol

  • I put in around eight hours this weekend trying to fight the Meg to no avail. I spent at least two of those hours using Reddit and the club / LFG system on Xbox to try and find five people who were up for doing it. I really want to like this game, but the devs seem to have the same misguided opinion that Bungie do with Destiny in that they produce a game that promotes social play, but do not offer the tools in game to accomplish that vision.

If the Meg could be defeated with four players, that would be great because it's easy to make that happen. Finding the fifth and co-ordinating with them is NOT fun. I'm all for group co-ordination, but I shouldn't have to resort to server hopping or using third party resources to do a mission. It breaks the immersion and is soul destroying after a while. For the love of the Kraken, please take a leaf out of Monster Hunters book and have a linked job board in the taverns. "Join us to hunt the Meg" etc.

I can only imagine that in testing, devs don't think about the "how" do people co-ordinate in the real world. In the REAL world people have different schedules, different time zones, different games to play and different priorities. A loud hailer is a nice idea, but it doesn't do jack when you can't find another crew in your instance (server) who are willing to stop putting holes in your ship and help with the shark hunt.

It's not just Rare who fails here. nearly four years down the line and Bungie haven't fixed the same issue with Destiny. We all moan about content and sometimes that's a valid opinion, but I honestly think that we should be moaning about ease of accessing the damn content so that we can enjoy the amazing content that has been produced with other players.

Rant over, but my last point is that many game companies talk about "investment" and the rewarding of the players time and dedication. I can't have those eight hours back and my reward was a late night with nothing to show for it.

P.S. I really want to take down the Meg, but I'm not going through that bull again.

Did you try to use trumpet in game ? Or Official discord channel ?

  • @nefrit-od Hey. I did use the trumpet in game a few times, but the servers seemed pretty empty so no luck. Also - and I know I might get shot down for this, but I'm on Xbox and I have used discord before, but it's another third party app that I have to use on my phone or laptop. I really would appreciate an in game method of finding crews to do a mission.

This phrase is a lil bit mess for me, you know that trumpet distance about 100-200 meters from your ship not whole server do you ? :D
Cause few days ago i see stream of some guys they was using chat to talk to all server ... but chat is same as voice its about same 50-100 meters around you )

  • @nefrit-od Yes. I should have typed "server" not "servers", but regardless, an empty server is an empty server and after hopping five or six times to find a crew I could call to using the trumpet, I lost the will to bother.

  • the Shark and the krake must be allways in the game, and much more please
