I Hate Cross Platform Play

    Seriously I really do. As a console player there is nothing more frustrating than playing against someone on PC. Its not even the mouse and keyboard advantage. There are serious network advantages or something for PC players. In the span of an hour tonight I have been one hit killed by a blunderbuss from half way across the ship, failed to get a hit of my own with a blunderbuss and close range aimed directly at someone. Had someone jump around on a ladder to avoid damage. Animation cancel to instantly kill me. And just generally bunny hop around the ship 4v1 and somehow not die despite hit after hit.

    Seriously [Mod edited] PC players. Let me opt out of cross platform play.

    @mordecant127 I have a crew member I play with often that has these things occur to them frequently, yet no one else in the same crew. Odd, eh?

    @mordecant127 I'm with you, 100%. Crossplay need to be optional. My husband and son have both already quit the game along with every one of my friends. The game claims to be balanced but that is far from the truth. I'm probably done too until Rate gets off their butts and addresses this.

    Come on guys and stop cry! Im a pc player and i get killed by Xbox players (you guys need to step up your gameplay)

    Sometimes Im rly Good and sometimes i suck, but rly come on (you did know from the beginning that it was crossplay)

    And sometimes the hitmarkers is screwed up ingame, and If u get one shot one kill wit blunderbuss from a half of ship then its a cheating player! And u shuld report that player, (or u were so low on health so one tiny bullet from blunderbuss killed u.

    (And sorry for My writing english is not My main langue so dont take it offensiv)

    @AlzHeimeerS Exactly. Guys... if this is such an issue then go buy yourselves your own PC's. It's all about how "you" as a player operate on your PC or console. Also, the fact that you guys are triggered about this is making you all exaggerate about how people attack you. Honestly up your guy's gameplay and stop letting your emotions take advantage of other peoples good time on this game.

    How does op know they are PC players. There are a ton of xim users. Can't blame PC when you probably go against ximmers also.

    Despite the typical 'Go buy a PC' and 'get good you suck' standard response to this sentiment from PC players, an option to not cross play is a valid and common sense option request for console v PC titles.

    Taking the keyboard and mouse obvious and natural advantage, there is a real parity issue between the Xbox SoT experience and the PC one. The game simply runs faster on PC meaning players move quicker and ships can turn faster on PC compared to console which is another natural advantage over console PvP.

    You then have the very obvious cheaters on PC making this a very toxic experience for console players (and fair playing PC players too). The simple solution is an option to simply have Xbox only regional servers, PC only regional servers and crossplay regional servers for those who wish to participate.

    For the parity alone I would rather only play with fellow Xbox players, just as Street Fighter V does on PS4 for example which allows you to set matchmaking to PS4 only or crossplay match making.

    It is a valid request worthy of consideration until parity and PC cheaters are no longer issues but we all know full well it will always be so and it is not like Microsoft doesn't have enough servers and Cloud power to run platform specific servers.

    Doing so is a positive way forward, but realistically unlikely due to the italicised textrisk of separating playerbase numbers. But honestly, it would improve the experience immediately for Xbox players.

    Yeah they do, just watch any PC gameplay stream. Spoken with PC players who also know this and agree. Try to think logically about this issue without the PC defence force badge on my friend.

    Parity is a real issue, with a very simple solution other n option to not crossplay as seen via my SFV matchmaking example.

    @cokney-charmer sorry false. I play on PC and most of my crew are xbox. So what you are saying is a pc player side by side with a xbox player, run straight forward and pc will win because he is faster? gimme a break dude.

    @xgodkevin the cute thing is that it's a valid request to not cross platform, hell even PUBG doesn't have it for the very same reasons. Be in denial as much as you like but it is a glaring obvious lack of parity problem amongst other issues and is a valid request to make.

    Quit the game till crossplay gets optional and enjoy the forum with all of its delusions. That's the only way or you can continue playing one session after another while being handicapped against pc players.

    An option not to crossplay is not the devil incarnate, it's a sensible and understandable request/option, which for some reason you think will destroy your own experience except for the fact it would be an 'option' meaning not everyone would choose to take it so your experience would continue and those like the OP and myself can enjoy our own without parity issues, PC cheats etc lessening it.

    Everyone gets to win, but you seem confused by that basic and simple concept like it's a conspiracy or collusion lol

    PC and xbox character movement speeds are the same. Neither has an advantage.
    PC and Xbox ships turn at the same speed, same radius.
    The only advantage speed wise is turn (aim) sensitivity on PC. Xbox needs a buff in this regard.

    So your previous statements regarding the topic I just listed are moot and incorrect. Good try though.

    I am a pc player and all my friends play on xbox and I watch them kill other pc players all the time..so I don't think that is a problem..but people complain about this all the time. I think it just has a lot to do with players being bad. It used to be "Oh you're lucky I lagged!" Now it is..."He only won because he plays on pc! No FAIR!"

    not to mention damage is the same, spread from weapons is the same, swing speed with swords are the same, lunge distance is the same, etc etc etc etc etc etc

    and they dont wanna give up even though rare made it clear since day 1 no cross plat opt because thats splitting the playerbase...
    but the 1/5 players is PC players, so more than likely its a 4/5 chance they got bam boozled by a xbox player and they just wanna use a scape goat to justify themselves.

    But next to that whether you agree or not which is almost laughable but happy to agree to disagree, the cheats available and widely used by a portion of PC players is enough of a valid reason to justify a request to opt out of crossplatform shared world play which as I explained above, doesn't spoil your experience but can enhance the experience for hundreds of Xbox players frustrated by the natural advantages PC players have that other games (SFV, PUBG, destiny 2 and others) avoid by either having the opt out option or just not having crossplatform play.

    Also this is not an attack on the PC platform or players (except the toxic and sad PC cheaters out there) but a responsibility of RARE and Xbox to offer a better experience for Xbox community, which this as an option would do instantly. On it is very easy to tell the difference between PC and Xbox players btw by the use of a full chat via keyboard and low score GT profiles with no console games and only Windows 10 via Xbox App games played. You have yet to comment on why crossplatform opting out is a bad thing.....

    You don't seem like you really understand what is going on. You obviously can not decipher the difference between movement speed and turn sensitivity. So no, I don't agree with you. I merely cleared up your false statements for you. PC cheats exists, never said they didn't. You may need to re-read some of your posts and see where you messed up.

    Even with cheats u cant 1 shot blunder across the ship. The cheats dont change bullet spread rofl. Just fyi yall.

    I'm glad Rare has already confirmed no crossplay option ever. Several times.
    Now they can move forward and continue to improve the experience for everybody.
    I play on a PC and everybody kills me. Why should I even care when most of the players are console?

    @cokney-charmer i play sea on pc and xbox with a GT of 40k, like what @xGODKEVIN said, its misinformation, and as i normally say, dead horse, and scapegoat.
    also something I never realized thanks to @vDerickv for pointing out spread is different than damage value, I should've remember this from modding starcraft way back when.

    Rare has made it clear several times, since even before the game launched, they will NOT...see that word? its a no, people dont like no...but we get told no anyways, they will NOT split the playerbase.
    and the whole all PC players are hackers is like saying every xbox player is trashy xbox kids saying they slept with my mom on cod, its simply not true and its a very small amount of people.
    like i also said, the pc playerbase is only 20%...well really...19%...so in reality its a 1/5 chance you fought a pc player, a 1/10 chance a sloop only has pc players and a 1/20 chance a galleon will be only pc players.
    Plus hackers will be dealt with, Rare made a video about they will be issuing bans for actual hackers or script kiddies or whatever you wanna call them.

    This game is nothing like PUBG. look any game where headshots count we PC players can aim faster and more accurately. I’m SOT hipfiring is awesome on both platforms.

    Hardwire your internet connection to your Xbox. Hardwire your controller. You would be shocked how much difference 50ms input pag makes in those tight spots. PC players have more than likely wired everything, about double the fps, and if they are using a 144hz monitor with a 1080ti, their input lag is almost null. That's literally all the difference.

    As I got it SoT was meant to be played together with each other not against each other. That was one of the reasons I bought it at least.....
    I´m playing videogames for almost 30 years and that crossplay thing always was a dream of mine!

    There is absolutely no truth to this. The game functions the same across both platforms. I play on both and actually will be playing more on Xbone due to how I like all the functions on controller so easily used.

    Also, like someone posted above, please post how you know exactly these players were specifically PC users. I’ve come across plenty of console players that have amazing twitch control in game.

    @cokney-charmer i myself play on both pc and xbox, players DO NOT move faster on PC however the advantage pc players have is a mous and keyboard they are usually able to turn around faster/more accurate then you can with a thumbstick.

    And if the pc players have a good pc and or an ssd the loading times will be vastly improved whilst joining a game or teleporting back to your ship from being dead or by mermaid.

    I also play together with dedicated xbox users and let me tell you they run circles around alot of pc users any day of the week.

    Well, I play on the PC and I do not like to use mouse and keyboard. I have seen many console players playing better than those using a mouse and keyboard
