Why are you guys defend the game no matter what?

  • Is suspicious the amount of people that defend the game no matter what, they are not objective...

I f%*&$ love this game so so so so much! Around 40 in each faction right now, but there is a lot of things that need to be improved NOW! Some one bring a topic talking about sensitivity and everyone saying is perfect, other talk about disconnecting and loosing all the loot and time, everyone say that never has been disconnected and should go to outpost every time that find a chest... someone talk about solo player and the possibility to only play against other solo players and everyone (and I mean the ones that always chase a sloop on a galleon) say "you are playing the game on hard mode, find friends" talking about cross play and hacks , every one saying "don't cry, I never see a hacker, just Learn how to play the game, is called skill, etc etc" , those people are toxic playing the game, and are toxic in the forum...and probably the ones that uses hacks or do exactly the things that are making a LOT of people stop playing the game.
    A little off topic...
Yesterday i did a fort with my squad, (they are nice people and we only attack if we are on raid or some ona attack us first) as son as we sell all the stuff they leave, I stay alone searching for a ship wreck but a see a galleon very very close to me, so I think "what happens if I get close to them and offer all the resources because I gonna leave too so it's a waste", at least 60 bananas and 100 cannonballs, and I did that, I anchor my ship just behind them, i start speaking saying that my friends leave and I just want to give all my resources.. Those people put me on a pedestal like a God! Their words "really? You are not joking? this is my first time playing this game that I see such a good person, really man, thank you!! Every one here are a bunch of $&) , thanks you man, thanks thanks! Do you want join us?" ... My point is, this game will be so different if people don't be so toxic all the time, I really understand this is a pirate game and I enjoy the way it is , but there is no reason to always be such an a$$, and always defend the bad things that are ruining this amazing game...

I see now the first comment "stop crying and learn to play"

    Sorry for my bad English.

  • @daneldanel Stop crying and learn to pl......aww shucks. Nevermind.

  • @daneldanel stop playing and learn to cry!

  • @rumham636 haha I did it so easy for you

  • not crying its just the chest of sorrows in the back ground you hear :(

  • Why we defend it? because we see potential, and we know that making games is harder then it looks, and we know the value of patience.

    BUT

The true supporters know what needs to be improved, and are honest, yet nice, harsh, yet listening, loud, powerful, and we change the game!

It is hard to recognize these people, as other masquerade as them all the time.

May the wind be in your sails, and grog in your cup.

  • You are being biased mate, yes there are a lot of people that say git gud and that the game is fine as it is, but for every 200 of them there is 1 guy that talks things that make sense, is cordial and is 100% not me.

Take it from me dude, if you ever go into a forum expecting people to be nice, civil and intelligent you will get dissapointed, so don't expect nothing, so that when you find that one guy that knows what he's talking about you can be glad to be posting with that fellow man of culture.

I think people defend aspects of the game because they either enjoy those aspects, or the issue is being blown up into something it is not. For example, the solo play issue. Many of us prefer a world that does not segregate players based on the ship they are on. It adds diversity, and ensures a constant dynamic of never knowing what might be coming your way. Another example is the hacker issue. Many players claim hackers are way more abundant than they are, because of either the way the game functions or their own inability to admit defeat. These aren't instances of blind defense, they are instances of defending against what we either love about the game or player ignorance. Making comments like "these are probably the toxic people" or "these are the hackers" further proves that the individuals have to resort to silly little assumptions to defend their own point of view, which contributes nothing to the discussion. In fact, it takes away from it.

That's not to say there isn't room for improvement within the game. But those who defend against a lot of suggestions or complaints about the game would prefer to see that improvement stays within the vision of the game, as the vision and the execution create a unique and fantastic experience we don't want to lose sight of.

  • People have differing opinions, and these forums are an excellent place to have open discussions regarding this game. While the "get over it" type of comments are unnecessary- and people often jump to such comments for reasons- there is a small nugget of reason behind it.

I find the game is balanced, outside of mouse and keyboards vs. controllers. It is my one gripe about this game, actually, and it is something that I will admit that nobody can really change my stance on. Everything else however, from the AI to ship battles to CQC is perfect as is (though I was a fan of the skull's amazing aim before they were patched). The max sensitivity on the Xbox I think is a perfect balance, not too fast to limit inexperienced players but fast enough for experienced players to take advantage of all the same.

In the case of solo sloops, it is indeed the "hard mode" of this game. This game is meant for cooperative play. If you sail solo I would suggest doing merchant quests only, else you're going to get frustrated losing that good sorrow chest.

This game is a pirate game, and while people like to say otherwise, PvP is most definitely an important piece of what makes this game, well a game. There will always be that small threat hiding behind islands, waiting to strike. It is up to you and your crew to be attentive while doing voyages.

Hopefully I gave you some insight. I can only speak for myself sadly, because everyone has their own opinions.

  • @clumsy-george exactly how I feel!

  • Wait so im toxic because i dont want a solo vs solo mode? And you think only ppl who pick on solos are the only ones against this? Dumbest post of the day

Thanks for bring a perfect example of what I talking about!

  • I got this game and access to a hundred plus others and can play them all simultaneously on 2 XBOX Ones & A PC with the kids.

    FOR 9 BUCKS!!!!!

The real question is how can anyone be complaining? I mean really, it costs me 10.90 cents to get the Patty Melt Meal at What-A-Burger

I get the complaints back when we bought am MMO for 49-59 bucks and had to subscribe 14.99-19.99 a month but to complain about this game is ridiculous.

  • @daneldanel I'm not defending the bad parts: the lack of content, the mad scramble to fix this half-a-game after release and so on. But the good parts are sooo good, I can't help but love them :).

Pot, meet kettle? A quick analysis of this post shows quite a number of constructive comments, yet the only ones you reply to have either been deleted or... this one, where someone says something that might be a bit rude but isn't trolling. yet you use it as an example of toxic behavior. Ever consider that you get what you give in these situations? So many posts providing feedback feel the need to completely ignore any relevant and constructive conversation, focus on the negative then use blanket terms like "toxic" for people who disagree with you. Quite frankly, when you lump up all dissent as something like toxic, rude is precisely what you'll get back. If you aren't willing to engage in discussion about your ideas or desires, but instead would prefer to focus on the ways you perceive you are being attacked while ignoring everything else that adds to the discussion, what do you expect? Honestly, when someone calls everyone who disagrees toxic, that's a pretty good indication of a toxic person themselves.

Man I miss whataburger. To be fair that's 10.90 well spent. (just like Sea of Thieves)

  • @drunkpunk138 so, yo didn't read or don't understand my post? I'm saying people that defend the game no matter what, and the only things they respond to people that are only bring topics on negative things the game may have (at least for them) is only "verbal trash" like other say in this topic... This person may disagree with what I'm saying, or disagree with solo vs solo mode, or disagree with whatever people say just because he like that, but insulting people or insulting their post is what make it them toxic! Don't contribute for absolutely anything ... For example, A new player come to the forum and post that a galleon respawn from nowhere and board them, the players don't die no matter what and playing music, stole all loot and sink the ship... And the only responds are "I never see a hacker, is just you making excuses for being a bad player, stop crying and go play something else".. this is a lineal behavior on all post where people come to share their bad experiences

  • @daneldanel
Because more than half the time ppl who are complaining about solo or hackers are BAD players. They come to the forums, cryin about gettin killed and ask for the game to change in their favor. Ppl who have a real complaint get real advise and help offered to them.

  • There are two camps of people that are causing problems for the rest of us, and unfortunately @DrewBob7 was correct in saying it's hard to tell the difference between those people and the people who have reasonable critiques/defenses.

The other issue, is that enjoyment is entirely subjective. I love this game. I think it's one of the best games I've ever played. And while I can objectively understand the arguments of those who desire more content, I've been playing just about every day since launch and rarely find myself bored. It could be because I run with great crews and we always find something to do, but I think that's what Rare is striving for in the first place. Sea of Thieves is meant to be a platform for you to enjoy the seas with other pirates.

All that being said, there are certainly flaws in the game. Anyone who vehemently denies this is certainly not objective. But even with patch issues/delays and the perceived lack of content, it certainly doesn't mean the entire game is bad. Thus you have people like myself take up the banner to defend the game where it's needed.

I think ultimately, we need a community that's willing to listen to reasonable arguments and attempt to see the other's point of view. It may be that defenders are missing something crucial about someone's critique, or that critics are missing something important in the perspective of the defenders. We have to take everything on a case by case basis.

  • @daneldanel Some of us try to help those who come with a problem you described, but if they start with the attitude they usualy do? What else would you expect... What usualy happens, is that someone tries to explain how to get better at the game and gets completely ignored by the OP, who either dissapears completely, never to respond to his thread, or he/she only reacts with shouting to others.

Having said that, if your question or problem is legitimate and you ask nicely, people should respond in the same way.

See what I mean?? How in hell you know they are bad players?.. Just because their are bring their bad experiences that you may not have experience yet... Like a continue disconnecting from servers and loose all the loot? Or being board for people that just doesn't die?... I consider myself a good player, and I have kill a lot of entire crews by myself... But suddenly you hit a guy 5 times with a blunderbus , and you see that he never eat a banana and kills you with one shot... This is a reality and not a crying of bad players, maybe a problem with the internet, bug, glitch or yes, a hack! Not a bad player ( in some cases, yes)

  • @daneldanel
And thats why it is a case by case as to how the comments go. You can easily tell when a player is just bad and comes to the forums complaing. And i see ppl who have real complaints get advise all the time. You act like you can control what ppl say. Of couse there will be ppl who are mean to those who have a real problem. But i can tell u most of the forum isnt like that

  • @rumham636 Ha! Goteeeeeee!

  • I agree so much!

But I also understand that there should be a diversity of "gameplay character" among players.

It's really annoying to be attacked by bad pirates all the time wanting to loot you, kill you and sink your little boat.

But imagine also how frustrating it would be to be an ocean of selfless and good pirate. Balance will always be ideal. Keep doing your part and being the player you are, and let the unscrupulous pirates be themselves.

    Have fun!

Rum, are you at it again? I think you need a dose of pirate jesus.....

  • I maintain that my consistent blood l**t is helping to maintain that balance. Just knowing that ol' Rumham is out there somewhere should be enough to keep the more civil merchant class player on alert. You're welcome game.

Bless me o' pirate lord for I be a sinner.

Edit: For the sake of transparency it has been a really slow day at work and I have been trying to rustle jimmies a bit more than usual on the forums.

  • @rumham636 Oh man I know how that feels. There's nothing like getting the blood boiling to ready for some PvP.

  • @rumham636 You're all over these "Git gud"s. Keep up your work! You're a saint and role model to us all!

Soooooooooooooo many casuals on the forums are crying out at once....."DONT ENCOURAGE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Edit: I want to screen print this as proof that I'm doing the right thing.

  • @rumham636 Remember their GTs, mate. Find them in game and show them how real pirates play.

  • @abandonedtitan7 I would do that if I didn’t already sink pretty much everyone I see. Thing is our crew is a democracy. It’s not like we’re sailing around and it’s like “well we’d like to finish this OOS voyage but grieferham over here wants to kill again.” More often than not it’s my crew that wants to plunder. They’re the sick ones lol. But what kind of captain would I be if I didn’t try to keep my crew happy?
