I know there is interest in these sorts of events but I find myself hesitant as my past experiences with them find them rather game breaking.
In my MMORPG hopping days I would go back to a few of my favorites only for them to be cursed with this permanent xp boost events that literally make the game pointless. It is usually under the context of getting new players in or allowing new players to join and speed through to the latest expansion area. While this is fine if your only interested in end game/new content this butchers the progress of majority of the game as you out level areas way too fast.
The last one I played was Final Fantasy XIV when I was able to buy the latest expansion and they added a XP boost to 60 so you could enjoy the new stuff. I was able to level a crafting and a gathering class off quest turn ins and my actual combat class just leveled off of fighting...and they all still were a few levels higher than the areas I was for the story. While the XP boost is pleasant it took all of the challenge out of playing the game. I had similar scenarios during my time with SWTOR and LOTRO.
Now all of that is in an MMORPG where content is king and you have to offer it your first born in order to make it to end game 4 expansions deep. I worry what such a thing would do if applied to the Sea of Thieves game format.
I am also not personally a fan of day specific things like this as it just crowds servers needlessly on what could be my only day to play or more likely would always be on days life takes priority and I can't play.
I would rather see them add more varying ways to gain rep as they have hinted at versus offer us twice the reward for no extra work. *It sounds appealing but at some point we paid money to play a game and if we just want said mechanics to get watered down...why play at all.
*Entirely my opinion. By all means play how you so desire.
