I was thinking what if there was another way to use explosive barrels that would be more useful. Like I was thinking in a situation that a enemy’s ship is chasing after your ship and he/she is right behind you and you can do anything about beside try to snipe them. And I know you can just drop the explosive barrels behind you when a ship is chasing after you but that risky and you could fall off. How about since the captain or the person who is controlling the wheel don’t have much to do how about a lever by a wheel where you can pull it to release explosive barrels out of the bottom of your ship/ behind your ship to blow up when the enemy’s ship is chasing behind you. What if we can place the explosive barrels in a container or something that is at the bottom of the ship for it to roll out of the bottom of ship to explosive a enemy's ship that is chasing after ya. This would honestly be a cool feature for the ship and make some use for the person who is controlling the wheel to do more things.

This is a really interesting idea. I'm assuming that once the kegs are in whatever contraption will hold them, they won't be able to be hit and exploded? Players could place or remove the kegs like they place or remove a banana with the barrel.
I heard that hitting a powder keg with a sword was supposed to set off a 5 second timer, but that doesn't seem to be working. It would be great if they got around to implementing that, too.
@unknownghosttx Adding something like a lever and some kind of mechanism for loading a barrel etc would be needlessly convoluted, I've already seen a much better suggestion in another thread which is simply have two different options when carrying any type of item, one to drop it at your feet as currently, and another to toss it up to 5 feet in front of you in the direction you are facing, that way you could stand safely at the back of your ship and toss it out into the water behind you no problem, or even toss it over onto a ship that is pulling along side you etc.
@ch4o5bl4d3 True. But wouldn’t you get snipe at and cause you to die and may cause damage to your ship. And like I said you can fall off. My way is just something safer and mainly for something for the captain/ person on the wheel to do beside just sailing

If the captain is on the wheel then he is just as prime a target for snipers as any barrel, and even if some kind of mechanism to hold a barrel for releasing behind you were added it would have to be a double edged sword in that if you happen to get hit by cannonfire on that part of your ship the gunpowder should immediately blow up doing just as much damage to nearby parts of your ship as if someone managed to snipe it while you were carrying it there, there's a good reason most people store their gunpowder up in the crows nest not on or even below deck!
There really shouldn't be any risk of falling off while doing it if you are tossing it, the captain on a sloop could stand on the anchor and still be able to toss it far enough to clear the canopy on the back of the boat, or possibly even toss it from the crows nest and it travel far enough to clear the ship, on the galleon again you wouldnt actually have to be stood on the back railing you could stand a couple feet safely in front of it and still toss it over.
@ch4o5bl4d3 You are right about everything. I just feel like it something I and a few others would enjoy doing when am on the wheel. How about there should be an option in the main menu to customize your ship to have a it as part of your ship or not.
