Things I would change at SoT

  • Tbh the game is awesome, but I've got a few problems with it.

    1. If you sail alone you have absolutely no chance to stand against a 3 or 4 man Group. You should have a Parrot who warns you if a ships closing in on you, or somthing like that.
-Also it would be awesome if there were more shallow waters were the 1-2man group could go through but not the Galleons.
    2. I've never seen one person who acts after the codex. In my opinion the dealer shouldn't bye chest from pirats who act against the codex.
I really love SoT but sailing alone is very very frustrating.

  • so...basically...your frustrated of doing it alone. I see ! Think in solution, not in problems = find friends.

  • I like the idea of shallow waters, like in between two island. Then a sloop could take a shortcut while the galleon had to sail around.

  • @kustho I've got a 4 man crew but tbh there should be changes for the small crew even with 2 it's hard so run from a galleon or fight one if you don't have the experience

  • I like the idea of more shallow waters too. Bigger islands should have them much further in the sea so the sloop can REALLY take a "faster" way aroud the island and the galleon can´t. The pro´s of a galleon are at the moment much better than a sloop. That´s what i´ve seen the last betas and nearly 14 days.
The arguments of outplaying them between rocks or something are usless because after 20 seconds they are again behind you. A galleon can also do a anchor turn and a 4 man crew can raise the anchor fast enough and set sails fast.
I played both galleon and sloop and can say sloop is a fine ship but very usless. If both crews are equal expirienced there is no way a sloop can escape.
Nearly everytime it´s impossible for one person sailing the sloop and getting reward for your loot when you got chased.
Oh and btw. Getting a bigger crew is NO resolve for the missing balance in this game.
Rare said they wanted to give new player a good chance to get into this game but because of the missing content nearly every crew i joined was boored doing the "quests" and was only chasing after ships. How can new players learn this game probelry if they get hunted by everyone on this sea.

  • Soloing is at your own risk. I don't remember exactly where I read it, but somewhere it said that solo is for players who want a challenge. Basically it seems like the game is not intended for solo, but the game isn't stopping you for doing it either. I also don't want to see features added that just benefit a playstyle that isn't even recommended.

  • @trenix90 Soloing is there for people that want it and the game warns you. However, the risk is still there for duoing as well. If the devs only wanted galleon on galleon, then these options wouldn't exist in the first place. Balance is key, right now there isn't a reason not to be on a galleon as OP as said.

So you're just confirming what I just said. You've been warned that you will be at a disadvantage. The key isn't balance, because you'll never balance a game where some ship has 2 players while the other has 4. In that same game, you most definitely wont balance solo gameplay, pretty much ever even with these extra features that the OP is suggesting.

  • I don't get the issues people are having with soloing. I regularly solo. I run into few issues that are unmanageable. Awareness and knowledge of the game functions will be your best friends when you are solo. If you don't have those, you should try to find a crew to help you out.
