Honourable refund

  • So what about it Rare ?
    a lot of players feel that they have been scammed, or mis-sold, or just plain hoodwinked into buying a game which is pretty tragic.
    My involvement with the betas, gave me hope that there was going to be a brilliant and diverse game coming, sadly it is tragically boring, unbalanced and already being plagued by griefers...
    A lot of players (soon to be ex-players) feel that there is no reason to play the game, the details are evident in the thousands of threads and topics on this site and other avenues of discussion.
    SO my question is...

    will you offer refunds to those who helped during tests ?
    seems reasonable to me...

  • Go away, OP. RARE hasn't misled us in any way, shape, or form as to what kind of game and content we would be getting at launch. It's your own fault for not doing any research beforehand, and/or listening to baseless speculation from friends.

    a lot of people played in the tests, i think the developers could stand up and say something regarding the fiasco of a game which was launched... possibly pointing folks in the direction of the refund process. That is all.
    If this is not your way of thinking, then go and do some outpost grief camping or something...

    You claim to have participated in the tests, yet where's your "founder" tag?

    Also, you should have known from the get-go, as a supposed tester from the technical alpha, what was going to be in at launch. RARE stated multiple times in livestreams and through other media what exactly the game would consist of when it was released, and it seems you've neglected to pay attention. It helps when you actually follow what the Devs say, and get some actual context, rather than basing everything off of your limited experience with the full game.

    Betas may not be the full game, but they are a realistic depiction of what the real game will be. There was just a beta of COD WWII and it was just the same as the multiplayer version of the game. There are beta tests of many games and what you see is pretty much what you get.

    So you are saying you played the Beta...Was it the one back in January? Or was it the one 1 week or so before launch? Don't yell and scream bait and switch or I need a refund when the product was exactly what the Beta was, but with a bit more content. You have become an investor now, so voice your opinion on what you would like to see changed/improved to help the devs out versus whining it is not what you wanted.

  • @blam320 Founder is the Alpha test members, not the beta. Insiders up until the last one had access to Closed Beta and Stress Tests.

  • @astraldruid Do people really not know how to use google? I found a refund process within seconds of a simple google search. Why do they need to be pointed to anything. This thread helped with nothing. Not even any constructive feedback towards the game. And Rare is the developers, wouldn't you want to ask the publisher? This is not the publishers forum. So again: wrong area.

  • Seems you created your own false hopes. These weren't met, despite the ability to confirm them through the beta. I agree that we all hoped and hope the game will be more; however grounds for a refund? Nope!

    We pay for a game, help with the tests, give our feedback, ultimately pay for the release version, feel dissapointed, but shouldn't mention it here on SOT forum ? instead we should google it (whatever that is) or shut up ?
    Perhaps the publisher , if that makes you happy, should say , Yes, if you think it is total rubbish (personal opinion) then please feel free to use this link to get your money back.
    That is all..

  • @astraldruid Where is the constructive feedback? I see none in this thread, at all. How is any of this useful to the developer, at all? Someone above gave the refund link to the publisher, so there we go, all can be happy now, people can continue to provide no constructive feedback, and go away. C-ya :)

    I hope other people will continue posting constructive negative and positive feedback which can help the developer without yelling at them for "Scamming" them or whatever else. In your world that might help you, but in the game world? It does nothing.

    Research? I did research, there was nothing. Like many others I looked into it 2 months before launch and mainly read posts about lack of content, I personally was confident that Rare was keeping a few tricks up their sleeves... Gosh I was so wrong =p

    Rare let us imagine all sorts of things with their 2 years old trailer showing hostile mermaids, conquistador gear, etc etc. For the life of me, when I think about the 'we want to you to become a legend'... rep grind 50 levels and grab that cosmetic pack bro!...

    That being said: @Astraldruid: I think that asking for a refund is ridiculous, even more so than releasing a beta of a game...

    Im still playing this game, but the magic IS gone already. I won't be playing in a month from now, hardcores will be gone too because the grind will be over, kuddos. And casuals will also get bored at their own pace, once they've had their share chicken fetching.

    i may have come across a bit awkwardly, you seem to have worded it better than me.
    There are thousands upon thousands of posts, giving 'creative' feedback to a team who has been well funded for 4 years to create this nonsense.. What would i have done differently ? i don't know.. that is why i buy a game from a team who is supposed to know how to make a game, so i don't have to.

    You and others keep parroting this statement but if you watch the trailer for the game and read the discriptions for the game in what ever store widnwos/xbox/retail the marketing makes this game sound like its full of content and things to do and well none of that is there yet... now if the first line of all the marketing said this game is in early access and content will be added as the months pass it would be more acceptable.

    But the fact is people want the game/content the marketing says is in the game now not 3/6/12 months time.

    I pre-ordered the game. Which does make me entitled to the Black Dog pack. I will not quote you to prove you wrong.

    This is what it does say regarding the Black Dog pack, I quote.

    Now, let's take a look at what defines "Pre-Order" shall we?

    "Pre-orders allow consumers to guarantee immediate shipment on release"

    So let's come to a conclusion. And I will use your argument. "RARE hasn't misled us in any way, shape, or form as to what kind of game and content we would be getting at launch"

    Yes, they have. We who did pre-order was entitled this pack for example at launch. And here some of us are now 6 days later, still waiting for it. So you can say they did misled us. They told us that we will get this at launch - launch happens - not everyone gets their packs. - they make a statement about we getting it early next week - next week happens - still no packs.

    You got to keep in mind on this matter about "what is a pre-order". And if you understand what a pre-order is then you will start to realise that the Black Dog pack is no longer a pre-order package since it's not pre-relase anymore. It's post release, which makes this a pre-paid dlc pack.

    Now. I would advice you to turn down that white knighting tone of yours too, starting your post with "Go away, OP" and then activate full defence without actually doing any research before you start posting is not very wise.

    We who pre-ordered was entitled Black Dog Pack at launch, 6 days later some still have not gotten it. Which does make a pre-order bonus misleading since it ruins the entire purpose of a pre-order bonus.

    I'm telling you I researched everything I could. I know how to research a thing or two I did post-graduate studies in a well known university, im not that dull.

    The post launch content is a bad argument, it only underscores how crooked the gaming industry is...

  • Careful not to mistake pirating for griefing. Which is the point of the game. Too many people doing that.

  • @astraldruid I agree, this wasn’t the game I was expecting, there is only 1 thing actually worth doing that wasn’t in the beta, the game is overall lousy and Rare somehow had the audacity to call this an “MMO” as if it would have the same amount of content as an mmo. Grinding takes too long and can only be done through repetitive voyages that are the same thing on different islands, the skull forts aren’t worth doing right now as the spawns are so bad that if you sink another ship trying to steal loot from you that spawn right back and far too close to you, allowing them to have unlimited tries at griefing you. Not only that but there was content promised in trailers, what happened to these “campaigns” or the fact that they never actually said how much more content there would be from the beta, and that if you did play the beta you were basically playing the full game.

  • Send them a ticket and ask for a refund this is not the place to seek attention. All the people who didnt expect what it was good for you than you shouldve done some research about the game or even wait buying it after seeing people play this game in vids streams etc get out you players are not the kind we need.

    Did post-graduate studies in a well known university, yet you still can't spell crooked!! It's even in the game for crying out loud!!

  • You probably won't be able to get a refund, but if you are seeking some kind of justice/redemption, check out the video of the devs explaining the launch/connectivity issues that they released a day or two after launch. They had clearly been up for days and it looked like the general reception of the game had begun to dawn on them. Their discomfort was enough for me... They have to be well aware.

  • Games as a service which means this is an ever evolving game.
