Why can't I invite friends mid-game?

    It takes a long... LONG time to complete quests and turn in loot in this game, which is apart of the fun in my opinion, But it really sucks when I'm playing with one friend, and another friend gets home from work, and the new guy is not allowed to join us mid-game.

    I don't understand why.

    On that topic!!! I was playing with my friend just now, 2 man Sloop, We had just gotten a ship-load of chests and skulls (Which took hours to acquire) when all of a sudden I was disconnected from the servers and I had to restart my game.

    As my friend is waiting for me to return, A RANDOM PERSON is thrown into HIS SHIP and takes all the loot we had worked so hard for and sold it all!!

    WHAT?!

    My friend is not allowed to invite me to the ship I was JUST ON... but a Random is allowed to just pop in and steal all my hard work?

    So I request two things.
    1: The ability to invite friends mid-game.
    2: An option to make your ship INVITE ONLY.

    Thank you, I really want to love this game but I am having a lot of really bad problems with connectivity and missing features that really should have existed from the beginning...

    @yadroak 1. you can if you go into the xbox app you can click on your friends profile and there should be a option like a circule kinda that says
    "(you friends name) Sea of thieves (number of players in) out of (possible players)"
    and well i mean i feel you how sometimes my friend goes for like 10 min and i keep farming and some random just comes and gets the gold or troll... so i agree there should be invite only.

    I think that if this happens and you end up with a random player and he/she sells your items you should still get your payment too just like when an assigned crew member sells something, after all when someone joins they become part of your crew.

    No no no, Me and my friend were playing, I was disconnected, and my Friend had a rando join him and the rando sold all the loot... leaving ME high and dry. I was p****d

    3 hours wasted...

    This is what I mean, then if you do end up with a random in the crew (the same happened to me a crew member crashed and i ended up with a random) if they try and sell your stuff, you should still get your cut at least automatically like you do when an invited crew member sells an item you both get the money, so at least one of your original crew gets the money and not just the random that stole the loot and sells it.
