Captains Log
Voyage 17 o' The Treasure Trail
Entry 1 :
I began the day stumblin' outta the tavern after a long night at sea. The crew I had last night was gone, so it was to be a day of sailing alone. I boarded me ship, charted a course, and started me voyage.
Entry 2:
Arrived at Crescent Isle and anchored off on the west , as a precaution. No ships on the horizon as I sailed, but no bilge-rats' should be seein' me ship from behind the cliffs. The grog-fog 'as cleared, for the most part, so hoping to solve this damned riddle before mid-day.
Entry 3:
Son-of-a-kraken sliced at me as soon as me shovel struck the buried chest! I retreated further up the cliff we were on and pulled out me' rifle. Poor lad'. He musta' never been in a gun-fight for' he charged at me, sword in hand, and 2 shots earned him a trip to Davey Jones.
The loot is secure, but I be having unfinished business with a man and his ship.
Entry 4:
I found the scallywag anchored in plain-sight on the southern side of the isle. Lucky fer me a galleon didn't spot em' as an easy target...
I scoped out the vessel, patiently awaiting his next movement.
Boredom.
Tis' inspired a song I hummed to meself' -
Atop the rocks I waited till
I saw the perfect chance to kill
He jumped into the sea below
To start the search for his foe
Aboard his vessel then I snuck
To quickly raise the anchor
Drop the masts, give the wheel a turn
There'll be no ship for his return
He ended up avin' no loot but I'm lucky that opportunistic fool was not a better shot.
Off to Mermaid's Hideaway fer another riddle...
Entry 5:
A cloud in the shape of a skull has appeared to the North-East. Sloop spotted to the south-east. Keepin' eyes on em'. Rest o' the seas be clear.
Destination approaching.
Entry 6:
The entire night was spent attempting to decipher the clues on that cursed piece o' parchment fer' a blasted rusty chest.
On the bright side I founda' message ina' bottle along the shore- X marks the spot on Cannon Cove.
Fer' now the ship is on course to Discovery Ridge.
2 sloops spotted in the distance. One travels North. The other is anchored to the South-East at Plunder Valley. A storm be formin' round' the skull cloud.
Entry 7:
Treasure secured, nice and shiny
Earn me keep as I take you away
Sailing the seas and enjoyin' the breeze
Enjoyin' it more when me ship is a gleam' !
Course plotted for the Golden Sands Outpost where I be turnin' in me haul. The anticipation of gold always makes me fingers twitch.
One sloop visible traveling East.
The Skull Clouds eyes glow green in the North.
Entry 8:
Another successful voyage lines me pockets furthermore!
Though I be off once more fer' once the gold-high wore off I remembered that I still be havin' to travel to Cannon's Cove to find the loot mentioned by that note in a bottle. On to the next chest!
Entry 9:
The Cloud Skull has vanished and me eye caught sight of 2 sloops.
-One to the East, headed south.
-The other is headed towards the outpost I just left. The second be comin' from the North-East, where the Skull Cloud were.
Unlucky fer' them that I be in the mood fer' some pirating.
Entry 10:
Some deserve to lose their loot.
I watched the sloop anchor alongside the isle with 2 members aboard. With nothin' to lose I sailed straight fer' their ship. I ave' no clue how they didn't see it comin' but me ship rammed into their hull as I ran aboard their ship with me pistol drawn.
I was greeted on deck by the outraged yells of a thin, bearded, man waving his sword at me.
" I PAID 60$ FOR THIS GAME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME. *@!# OFF." he shouted before a pair of shots silenced him for good.
In a rush I grabbed a crate of goods from the captains room and jumped overboard fer' I noticed a large-gutted sailor boarding. Unfortunate fer' im', he gave chase instead of repairing damages.
A shot was fired and me ears started to ring. I ran into the islands brush, dropped the crate, and glanced at me blood-soaked sleeve. The foe appeared and I sliced at him with my sword, eager to end this easily. Parried. He swung at me as I stepped back, then again, and again!
Me opportunity presented itself.
I aimed me blade for his chest and lunged forward, making contact. He panicked and I struck em' again, dropping the scalawag where he stood. I ran back to find their ship sinking and me own ship taking on water! I repaired the damages and surveyed the area to find that floating in the water, shining bright, was a hoard of chests, crates, and trinkets, with none other than meself to claim them.
End o' Voyage Notes-
Me voyage was long yet' the reward and feeling in me soul is always worth a trip out to sea.
Me only problem? Takin' the poor duo's haul in a short-lived scuffle earned me more gold than' me voyages! Temptin' to take on raidin' full-time...
Thoughts for another time though, for now I return to the tavern.
