If u don't like it don't play it

  • I am reading people on here saying how bad game is and lack of content.i love the game and the players I have meet friend or foe it's been fun.

Yea let's face it rocky start server issues but a online title this was to be expected .

For me rare are going to shape the game going forward with all the comunity feed back and make this game the best in my mind is already on the path to that already.

Call me a fanboy or what ever but if you really don't like it that's fine because this is not everyone's cup of tea/tanker of grog .

Hope to see u all on the seas soon .

  • For me the Closed Beta its self was worth 60$ Glad to see I'm not sailing alone with this type of mindset.

  • Yeah, I'm not seeing a lack of content, or a game as empty or bad as No Man's Sky

  • @gta5dude74 All my best experiences have nothing to do with the content but more to do with the mechanics of the game which are spot on. Rare cant create social experiences which is what this game is about. Only you can do it. Glad to not have as much salt as the seven seas in this thread.

    Happy Hunting

  • Well I'll join you as a fan boy. Can't believe all the bad game reviews I've read. This game truely is a breath of fresh air. Guess some people still love their annual instalments of Call of Duty, or the copy and paste of any (insert any EA title) game. Thank you Rare. Refreshing to play a game that developers actually took pride in making. I believe Sea of Theives and Red Dead 2 will restore my faith in gaming

    end adding salt ;)

    edited this way later
forgot to write how good of a "tech"demo this is, i would not even closely call this a game yet.

  • While this is sound advice, this does not do well for company bank accounts naw meen. Besides a little criticism is exactly what people need to do better. Now mind you not all ideas are equal and some down right horrid... But either way. O and I guess it's impossible to please everyone and well some things are just unex... You know what ya if you dont like it don't play it.

  • if games were immune to criticism then they wouldnt get better, if you cant take people bashing a game dont go on the forums to be honest

I agree, I felt like I had my moneys worth on my preorder from the betas/alphas. The experiences I've had with others have been priceless!

  • I have no problem with criticism ur right it will benefit the game in the long run but it should be constructive

I can’t bear myself to agree with either of you, your both blatantly trying to deflate a problem by stating the problem. That’s not how it works... If you want more content in the game or want the game to get better, constructively give your opinion in a meaningful way.

And for the “if you don’t like it” people, just stop saying that. The only reason others say these things is because they aren’t supportive of the games outcome. I guarantee that if it was a free game, you’d barely see these complaints...

  • @clintbeastwoodx My friend said yesterday that there might not be a lot to do but this is a VERY sturdy base game, everything about the game mechanics is extremely well thought out and with the free DLC plan, this game will eventually earn back the people who already are casting doubt.

  • @gta5dude74 Saying the game is lacking content and providing information to prove that is constructive. Giving ideas on how to fix it, is also constructive. See, the problem the forums are having is it is becoming a tug of war.

You have people saying things bad about the game, you know, content, lack of things to do, PvP complaints, not enough ship variety, nothing to do with the gold outside of make yourself look shnazzy, where's the pets, yada yada (I pretty much pulled all of this from posts I've read+what I've experienced myself. Then you have rare stuck in the middle and on the otherside, you have the defenders. People who think the game is pristine perfect and does not need changing in anyway.

In gaming, we call this gamers vs whiteknights. Gamers being people who want to better the game through changing the development design to better suit the majority and whiteknights who think everything is ok as it is and defend the game to the very fiber of their being. Everygame can do with improvements for sure, but when so many are stating the same thing over and over and over. You can't dismiss it, but you can deny it.

  • @gta5dude74 that i agree with

Not sure why I'm quoted in this post at all. You can read all of my post none of them are 100% negative and your need to be defensive about this tells me all I need to know. If the problem is "don't like it don't play" then that's your business. But making statements like that only hurts the developers in the long run as a healthy player base is what funds future endeavours. The fact that if everyone who liked it somewhat but feels it's missing something didn't speak out then nothing would change. I mean it's literally the reason messages boards like this exist in the first place. I think the better advice would be if you don't like it don't read it.

I guess the end point is i absolutely love this game, but me personally I am really begging for more as it does feel quite bare atm. And my post was a sad attempt at some dry humour for you land lovers.

  • @noxsamus Love the attention to detail your seven point post has. Ill create my own thread with this as the title.

BRING ON THE FIRE AND PITCHFORKS WE ARE GOING TO ENGLAND BOYS

  • @kashaarafall
You forgot the majority of the community right now.
    Salt Trolls

This game needs constructive criticism because it is not perfect. What id doesnt need is thousands of people being hostile to each other for disagreeing.

    WORD!

  • @rdizz I think you possibly misinterpreted my post, or I didn’t give enough information on my opinions. Firstly I never said that players shouldn’t need comment critical things, I said they should comment, comment constructively though. Secondly I love this game and am definitely gonna continue to play it.

I was just saying that saying something like “if you don’t like it, don’t play it” is kinda ignorant. If I paid $60 for a game and it released with content literlally promised to us missing (fiddle, and pets) I’d be a little angry too...

Lawl... we will settle this on the high seas.

  • @gta5dude74

    You love games.

    Fanboy.

  • @gta5dude74 I was just saying on one of the complaint posts or any post suggesting huge changes instead of fun changes.

"You don't walk into a Mexican restaurant and ask them to start serving Chinese do you?"

Rare is very open and clear about what this game is, so it's frustrating to see forums like this.

  • @cavemancronch I don't think it's a matter of "better" rather it's a matter of people expect the typical game formula and Sea of Thieves is quite different.

  • There's no game here... It's a tech demo.

There's literally nothing to do. If it was $5 fine. But at $60 there better damn well be some things to do in the game besides just sail around aimlessly doing the same thing over and over and over.

I'm not sure why you guys are defending this it's not really a game, it's a tech demo.

  • @p0gue-mah0n

    👬Thanks pog 😆

  • @leanandmeanbaby your problem is that you wanted an FPS game where you’d constantly be shooting other ships. Games are made as a form of entertainment, and the category of which SoT falls doesn’t fit you. This game isn’t a tech demo, it’s an exploration/simulator game. If that doesn’t appeal to your style of gaming, then I suggest trying new things in game, and looking at it from different perspectives that just might fulfill your unsatisfied state of mind.

  • @leanandmeanbaby Explore new ways to have fun in game, for me. It’s the pvp, the pvp is so replayable that it’s actually impressive

  • @gta5dude74

This mindset of "if you don't like it, don't play" is a horrible one.

If people are unhappy and they don't play. That means they aren't supporting Rare. And guess what happens when the money stops rolling in?

  • @gta5dude74 said in If u don't like it don't play it:
I don't think you seem to be grasping that this is exactly what will happen without some necessary negative feedback and therefore action to improve the situation (and I'm not referring to the troll posts or the ones that want a completely different game entirely - but there are many things that need serious improvement mentioned in these forums).

By all means, love the game, but many of the points people are providing negative feedback on are quite valid in my opinion. Many of us are providing that feedback so that change can be enacted to prevent the "if you don't like it get out" crowd from unwittingly killing the game completely as the population implodes and the perhaps the servers get retired because so few actually play it!

Fanboy all you want, in a positive manner, but this sort cutting off the nose to spite the face because you don't like to hear what needs to be improved is generally just doing yourself and the game you like a serious disservice.

  • I think some people miss my point don't mind people making constructive comments but it sad to see people just being nasty about things that's what I meant by if you don't like don't play it

  • @haydensolo At this risk of necroing this thread, which I'am not sure if this would be a necro or not, I just have to say "Huh?" So the pvp is replayable...you know, the pvp that gives no gain because you don't know if the person has anything to steal until you sink their ship and ultimately, likely waste your own supplies. The cannon aiming has the arc trajectory of shooting a sling shot, aka it's wrong, but hey, it's replayable. The sword fighting is a 3 swing system combo with one of the worst sounds I've heard when it comes to sword collision with steel or flesh and the guns...well, the guns are actually fine.

Now, tell me, how exactly is something like that replayable? Because you can do it again and again with the limited people in one session. IF you happen to see someone that is, which seems to be one of the main annoyances. With the limited number of people allowed in one session, it creates not a sea of thieves, but a pond of thieves. Despite the game having this "Massive sales" it claims to have, which is likely comprised of around 65% free xbox passes, the players just aren't there sometimes.

So what does that leave you with when they aren't? You can't communicate. You can't socialize, you can infact only explore and I dunno about you, but a resused asset on a game that is 60 dollars and was in development for 4 years, tends to annoy me. That's called budget saving/development laziness and it should not be a thing. Want an example?

Shipreck bay, has a downed ship in it, yet you see the same ship, same position, same everything on another island. Upside down sunken vessels with different names, harbor the same cargo holds, brigs, designs, even shark jaw wall decorations. Infact, you paid 60 dollars for what I would deem a copy paste simulator and you're trying to convince people to make their own fun? I can sell you a copy of Spider Man Animator from packard bell years ago and that game was DESIGNED to make you have your own fun. The moment they added other things to do in the game, such as progression, was the moment there was a system and this whole "You people are sad, make your own fun." Are in such denial that this system even exists that it just makes me want to hug you because of how sad you are.

Anyways, you're a white knight and convincing someone like you is almost impossible because your ideals, are your own. Happy sails, for as long as it lasts.

  • @kashaarafall No need for the aggression, if you really wanted to convince me I’d be open minded to your point of view.

On another note the reason PvP is enjoyable to me is because of the satisfaction it brings once you sink a galleon from your sloop, the rush, the tension. Never said it was designed well, I have actually made posts before about how terribly designed the sword combat is, but nonetheless I love the pvp.

I would generally have to agree with you with the copy and paste things, but it’s not very often I would even notice such things like your example at shipwreck bay.

I honestly don’t know who or what you were trying to convince or convey to, because it isn’t working on me. But just in case it is, name-shaming is unsupported by the devs...
