70,000 vs. 140,000 Gold For ....
"We don't have enough content, what should we do?"
"Make things as expensive as possible. Then we have 'progression'."Shame on you, Rare. What a waste of a great game.
@knifelife Psssshhhh you land lubber can’t you tell that the...uhh...background of the photo is slightly darker?
@saucy-seaman I’m guessing they accidentally forgot to include the other picture for the icon of the second one but who knows
Yes, I see the gold and green ... wait ... the ship just passed me by and I was scoping for people rather than looking at 1mm differences in textures because I'm farming an extra 10 hours of gold in order to have a nearly imperceptible difference of astronomical price distortion. Love the game still! I'm not hating ... just hoping for some more intuitive design and pricing decisions in the future.
Just damn lazy by the devs, that's literally 30 seconds work in photoshop to adjust the hue on part of the texture, or many other ways within Unreal Engine. If you're not going to allow player made designs then you should give a decent range of options. There is no reason not to have completely selectable colours for every part of all this stuff.
Meshes are harder to make, but I'm sure they could manage more than 4. I have no idea what Rare have been doing. I'd make guess we'll get a trickle of stuff we're suppose to be grateful for.

I have a pretty good idea, it's going to work like it did with Destiny. Content gets ripped out for launch and then added as new stuff for updates and DLC. Because for marketing it's better to have a stream of new content instead of dropping it all at once, even though it's finished.
Yeah, but how else do you expect them to stretch out content until the next trickle of palette swaps gets released?
Gotta justify a four year dev cycle and keep the kids subscribing to gamepass somehow right?
Or maybe the answer is "b..but it's just a beta! There's gonna be so much more c...content at launch guys! Screeeeee!"
Oh wait..@krackedskull said in 70,000 vs. 140,000 Gold For ....:
Hmm looks exactly the same to me, an over looked error I'm guessing.
Lol EVERY faction locked cosmetic in the clothing gun, equipment and ship stores, is just a quick palette swap!
The only different ones are the ones from the actual faction rep.

Yeah, and that worked so well for Destiny 2... Rare seem to have missed that a huge number of players are effectively doing a 2 week free trial and need to be convinced now not 2-3 month down the line.
@mr-chernobyl i love RARE i really do but now im starting to realise why the secrecy in the AMA and the fact for a several year game they havent produced any sort of roadmap
@saucy-seaman more to the point - where's all the figureheads they showed us in trailers? E.g. skeletons and Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark callbacks?
Don't tell me that 'will probably be legendary content' because I'm beginning to suspect we'll get there and find... not much really.
Still adore the game, but these are some of the problems.
What you're not seeing in the pic is the quality of the $140k figurehead.
It's gonna last a lot longer, I assure you.
;)
@saucy-seaman,
As someone else, on this forum, has elegantly put this:"Microsoft is rebranding "Early Access" game into "Game as a service"."
And I was one of those who has been waiting for over a year and kept believing that there is going to be more at launch..
for a game that relies purely on cosmetics only changing the colour palette for the figureheads seems a bit lazy....
And the grind needed is also a bit to much in my opinion, other than that I´m really enjoying the sailing and exploration mechanics although a bit more variety in terms of gameplay will be be welcomed in the future.@saucy-seaman The accent colors are different, all are like this btw. More expensive figure heads are subtler and richer looking and cheaper are bold and brighter. This one is subtle but I garantee you could tell if it was on your ship.
