why do people prolong ship battles more then5mins..... why chase for like 1 hour?

    so i understand trying to take out a ship and get their loot

    but if nothing happens after like2-5mins, then give up

    hell, if your chasing for more then 5 mins give up

    what the hell is the point in chasing for like 1 hour?

    your just wasting your and your crews time, the other persons time, for what?

    for maybe you might get 1 chest? yeah totally worth wasting 1 hour for

    i just don't understand that mind set. why do people chase you across the entire map?

    and even when you do get into battles nothing happens, ship battles are pointless, heres why

    • shoot cannons, enemy ship gets a hole
    • players board up hole
    • repeat

    .... its basically a long drawn out battle as to who runs out of wooden boards first...

    yeeeaahhh how fun.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    If you don't have any good loot, just scuttle the ship and be done with it. The person being chased is the one dictating the length of the chase, ultimately. If you keep running, I assume you have good/plentiful treasure. Earlier tonight I had 22 chests on board. Before that I had 12 treasures from a fort that rang in for a total of almost 20,000 gold, and at that time I was being actively pursued by somebody who almost certainly wouldn't have given up if we had not been set upon by the kraken.

    The longer you lead them on the more chests they think you will have, you ask why they chase you for so long what have they got to gain right, well they basically think the opposite "why are they running for so long they must really have something of value onboard to lead a chase for an hour without just trying to duke it out or make a driveby of an outpost" so its as much on them as it is on you>

    There's not a whole lot of ships on a single server at any one time, so 4 times out of 5, someone will go for a ship when they finally see one for the thrill of having an actual, thinking person to fight instead of more NPCs.

    But I mean, if you don't like the ship combat, I hate to break it to you but there's a lot of it in this game.
