Random joining after we've done a massive quest!!!

  • So we've just done a massive voyage, stocked up loads of skulls and on our way back our 3 man team which was originally 4 was joined by a random.

We can't kick them out apart from lock them in the brig, do they get a share in all our rewards after all our hard work?

  • OR... you could open a 3-man lobby on the galleon instead of a 4 person one... avoiding late joiners.

  • @ant-heuser-kush

Well I don't really think it's fair that a random can join our party of three after we've completed a voyage and gone to hand them in at the outpost and get rewards for doing absolutely nothing. That's the problem.

If they don't get a reward then fair enough. Just looking for an answer!

  • I don't get what the complaint is, it's not like the rewards are split based on the number in your party. You'd get the same gold per chest that you'd get if it was just three people as you would with four, or one even if you solo. If you hate playing with randoms then just play as a three person group. • @naoshadowpaws

Hardly throwing a fit just wanted to find out if they get a reward after joining once voyage is complete!

A friend left the 4 man crew as we started the mission and therefore a random joined.

Yes they do, so roll a three man if you're gonna be stingy.

  • @ant-heuser-kush

It's not about being stingy or anything like that. If the rewards aren't split we're more than happy to hand in the rewards for the quest.

For example if the rewards is 1000 coins does each member get 1000 or 250 each?

  • @fernandos24 What if your attacked on the way to the outpost and the random assists you?

The random can also carry a chest and redeem it, saving you guys time.

Maybe the random will assist the crew on the boat.

I don't understand all of the fuss, as I'm sure you will join a game in the near future when people are selling chests, and if they put you in the brig or kick u, you would be fine with that?

  • @ant-heuser-kush Brilliant thanks for your help!

  • Then put the random to work. Make em earn their keep. Yes all crew gets full and equal shares. Next time u play n choose a galleon ship choose small crew that gives u a 3 slot lobby. If i join in a random gane. Mimy first question is: did yall compkete a voyage? If they did i simply tell em hey ill put in work since i joined in after to earn my keep. Ill go and refill supplies while they sail.

  • I don't see a problem. Yes he got lucky and got some free loot. It doesn't take any away from you.

  • I mean it's not like they chose an option that said "Join crews almost done with high value voyages". Kinda weird to complain about. Maybe your crew instead of getting butthurt could instead take him in and do more voyages? It's not their fault they joined you.

  • Doesn't look like a lot of you are actually understanding the issue with the game so far. Right now you can join a crew, go afk and passively earn. This means that the existing crew will no longer be able to have a person join them who is willing to help.

You can put someone in the brig to stop them from using up supplies and stuff, but it doesn't completely resolve the issue. There needs to be a vote to kick option.

  • @fernandos24 I know the post is resolved since now you know you didn't lose anything by that random joining, but I feel like everyone ignored you mentioning you had a 4 man reduced to a 3; you could've edited your post too acknowledging it's no longer a complaint or explaining it better.

  • @ryan-howl I don't think you realised, but there's an AFK kick after a certain period, like 10-15 mins (Lazybeard). So no, that tactic doesn't work. If you were to argue they just sit and do nothing, the original crew loses nothing from just completing a voyage if already started and rejoining a new session - perhaps with only 3 people if you're that worried an extra person will sponge off you. But then again, what do you gain from in buying a game and then moving around to stop afk kick while your crew is actually enjoying the game while still earning as much? Not like you'd overtake anyone in progression like that.

  • @notsid-probably Haha very good!

Just wanted to find out if someone who joined after completing a voyage gets a share in the loot.

As we've found out that it's all equal I don't have a problem! Just want people to pull their weight but its a bit hard for them to do that after a voyage has already been completed!

So thanks for your input notsid!

  • @cryptic-ophion "afk kick" isn't a thing since you could just use a macro or a rubber band to a controller. It's pretty easy to work around that. I've been sat here for nearly 30 minutes now watching this guy toggle between a couple of animations to make sure he doesn't get kicked. You've missed my point on the fact that a team of 3 who were looking for a 4th are now at a disadvantage because this new player has taken up that slot and chooses to not help. They can go ahead and make a new lobby if they're happy to completely reset any progress sure.

You obviously wouldn't get more reputation than if you played, but this is pretty easy because I can quite happily tab out of game, watch stuff and earn passively through other crews without doing any work, just tabbing back in to change my animation then go back out.

    Does no one understand that?

  • @notsid-probably You can read my previous post to see how it could harm the existing crew.

  • If you hand a chest/skull/cage in, And it's estimated to get a 300 gold reward, You all get 300, It's not divided.
I don't think the OP was trying to say it's not fair that this new comer was getting gold for doing nothing, They may just have thought that the earnings were Divided amongst the crew meaning if a 4th member joins, they lose out on some gold. Luckily it isn't like that. ;)

  • Fortunately for those of you who don't like randos joining your crews, RARE is going to add the option to lock your crew to invite-only soon-ish.

  • @its-s****. Thanks, I should have worded my opening post slightly different. Sorry for any confusion!

  • @padd Might want to read the comments so you understand the full context here.

  • @fernandos24 Ah, yeah they get rewarded for it but like I said it isn't split. They get the value of the chest same as everyone. So they lucked out getting in while you had a haul.

  • @padd Whats pathetic about asking a question.
You've obviously got an opinion and no one elses seems to matter. So jolly good well played to you Sir.

  • It cost you nothing. Relax and have fun. It's a small ocean. 👍

  • @naoshadowpaws yeah not a problem if it was shared i hope people would see why this could get annoying. I understand we should of backed out and started a smaller galleon. Learn for next time

  • Weird... I joined a galleon crew about 2 hours ago and I got instantly locked in the brig. I then proceeded to wait for them to claim their treasure since I saw alot of it...

  • @blam320 THIS is what needs to happen. People attacking the OP are the ones who are pathetic IMO. This is online game 101 stuff here. If you are in a crew and one of your friends get disconnected, but then gets back on 10 minutes later, if a random got put in the crew in the meantime it's bad for everyone. Locking the person in the brig sucks, a vote to kick 10 minutes later (if the option existed) would be unfair to a random who DID help instead of just doing nothing, and it's unfair to your friend that he can't re-join you after he gets back online just because of an Internet glitch or whatever.

  • @man-at-arms2112 Which we know now and thoroughly enjoyed the game so far.

  • @padd You've clearly not read the comments properly to understand that there is an issue by not having a vote to kick feature which is so readily available in many other games.

  • @Padd @NotSid-Probably your posts have been deleted. Please refer to The Pirate Code before your next posts.
