Okay, so I get that Rare may want to extend the time it takes to acquire such items but 70,000 gold? 140,000? You've got to be kidding me! They're not even nice looking ones; for example, the simple black hull that was in the Beta.
If that doesn't make sense to you, let me write down the basics from the viewpoint of a casual-competitive player. Today me and two friends (in a Sloop) did at least 50-60 voyages from both the Order of Souls and Gold Hoarders which earned us around 7.8k with money only being spent on purchasing new quests.
That sounds pretty good right? Wrong. Despite handing in multiple Captains Chests (and even some stronghold chests) almost ALL of them simply gave us no gold OR XP towards our desired faction! In fact, one of the Stronghold Chests took away 1 Gold Hoarder rank from me!
Oh, don't worry, it only took us around 8 damn hours. So, if 8 hours of constant work nets me 7.8k then that means per hour I'll supposedly earn around 975 coins. This means that to purchase one of those ugly ship hulls (opinion) at 70k credits it should take me a grand total of...
72 hours.
Thats 3 DAYS, boys and girls. Three WHOLE days of non-stop grinding to get ONE ugly-a*s skin (opinion) for your otherwise bland ship. Please for the love of all that is holy, reduce the prices of all cosmetic items to make them simply affordable. You said you wanted horizontal progression, so let us have some!
Personally, I'd make hulls cost 15k (if you want to stick with multiples of 5), figureheads cost 10k, and sails cost 10k, too. This makes customising your whole ship a more feasible task for everyone out there who has a life to live.
Rant over. Have a good one.
