(PC) Can't play multiplayer games because of privacy settings?

  • Hi,

My friend is having a problem logging into his account, It is giving him a " Change your settings to play" where it says that his account is not set up correctly and that his privacy & online safety needs to be changed.

The thing is that we checked this and it was enabled but it still didn't allow him to play.
    Any help?

  • I had this issue in early testing.

If I'm able to remember correctly.. Double check the NETWORK "tab" of the Settings section in the Xbox App and address any Orange banners that your friend might come across.

If he/she click the "more info" hyper links, your friend should be redirected to the Xbox "support" page.

Here are some pages that can help:

  • @captnjaq

it didn't work it does not even allow him to login to the sea of Thieves website, that is why I am messaging on his behave, the thing is he bought the game without seeing if his account is correct or not.

    is there any other method?

  • I am having the same issue. Three PCs with Game Pass subscriptions, and I am only able to play the game one of the accounts. All accounts are adult accounts with the same Xbox privacy settings applied.

I am able to start Sea of Thieves, but when I am about to start a game a dialog pop-up about not being able to play online due to privacy settings. Tried to get it working for a couple of days now, but I am about to give up and just cancel the Game Pass subscriptions altogether.

Anyone else who had this problem who resolved the issue?

  • I'm having the same problem with a friend? anyone found a way to fixed this?

  • The only solution we found was that you need to create a new Xbox live account

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi all, i ma having the same issue with this. I bought 2 copies of the game for PC, one installed perfect and the other one keeps hanging on this window. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

  • Go to a Xbox one/360 and logg in with the account that sea of thiefs exists on´s information then go to settings, privacy and online security, Xbox live privacy and then choose for adults. If you already have an account on your Xbox you just sing in with a new one by pressing the Xbox button on your controller and then go to the far left where your profile is and then singn in with a new/other account and do the exakt same steps above. Sorry if my English was bad. :)

  • Im having the same issue i just bought the game but it want let me play it it is so stupid is there a soulution cause i dont wanna waist 2 days on nothing
