SoT team, at least give us some indication how long the servers are expected to be down or information of what is going on.
Should I give up for the evening and try again tomorrow.......
I managed to play 6 hours from last night to early this morning. Went to bed for a few hours, got up and played another hour. Left the house to meet a colleague for lunch for a couple of hours. Came home - Server is down and this site is being weird. Can't see the forum categories or menus at all.
WTH?

I have to admit
I'm really upset by this. I actually planned tonight. Got friends together. And have been a pre order for ages.If the servers are full of people on game pass ahead of people who committed their money and trust in advance I'll be super p****d.
The vast majority of online games crash and burn on the first day. There's just no way they're going to invest in enough servers to cope with the initial rush, because they'll only need a fraction of that once it all calms down.
If this is your first online game, fair enough - but just remember in future to make no plans on debut night.
@sirbats why? im on gamepass ive had it for over a year. so i have spent more into these games than the average person. its about time microsoft released a new game on time for the game pass. but its not just pre orders with problems. everyone has them. it wqs just released in certain countries today. the influx of players and down time was expected.
@ersatz-nihilist i have never ever in my life seen a game crash in debut on release day on steam... and your argument is invalid because you know they can rent extra servers for debut like every other publisher does
It's not launch night though. It's been live for over 24 hours. And after TWO stress tests these issues should have been resolved.
And I'm sure there are game pass players experiencing issues too. But I still bet there's tonnes of casual. Oh I'll give this a go it's only a tenner. Players who are playing right now when people who committed five times that can't get in.
I know, it's a close minded, selfish 'me me me' attitude in some people's eyes, but given Rare have psyched people up repeatedly for launch. It's just downright upsetting.
I'm not a regular gamer, and it's my fault I'm dissapponted cause I expected a game to work?

so if u buy a new car do you expect for it to not start ? just cause its a game it don't make it any different...

@ersatz-nihilist debut night?. This game has been live here for 22 hrs....
Well gosh, you got me on that one. On the other hand, it's launch night here, so /weighing hands motion.

Yeah. Rent. Spend money. They don't need to do it, so the opening nights gets a bit shaky. A lot of games don't have server issues, but a lot with dedicated online components do. Hell, the Rainbow 6 night for the 3rd Season was a bit all over the place and that was just a big patch.
So no, my argument isn't invalid.
@meteoric-sand Not even sure why I'm going to reply b/c it won't matter, but I'm just going to list some other pc games that have had launch day server issues plus other server overload problems.
Diablo 3
Most WoW expansions
PUBG
Fortnite
The Division
LoL
Dota 2
Path of Exile
See the trend here? They're all some of the biggest games around and from some of the largest developers. It doesn't matter. Server issues are a scaling problem that will always happen because no matter how much you plan for it you can never account for how many players will try to join the game at the same time.
@ersatz-nihilist sorry i still think that it is unacceptable to think that it will be expected for a game of 70E pricing to have this problem...
I'm not really that surprised that the servers got overloaded when they did. I played exactly from launch, for about 13 hours straight, experienced NO issues what so ever until about the last 2-3 hours of the session where me and my crew began to see increasing lag spikes every now and then. It looks like this was the time frame that a lot of the people who got the game first are coming back on, and a lot of the people who hadn't even tried to play yet, had time to get on the game as well. So the servers are finally getting a world wide load on them.
I'm sure it'll be fixed soon guys, we just gotta be patient. Although, it's not lost on me how inconvenient this is for people. Especially those who planned big stuff around this release. That's unfortunate.
@ersatz-nihilist I see your point as well... However, taking an example from Ubisoft is not acceptable. After all, they are the meme of "S****y connection". You think SoT wants to get that kind of reputation?@meteoric-sand has a valid point. The start matters a lot, because it is the first impression. And what have we got our first impression on SoT? C****y start.
Honestly there are a ton of games that have this kind of issues, Like WoW and such but that was many years ago and with less hype. Sorry if your going to hype your game up and do these stress test and betas. Fix those issues. Just saying for when you make a new game. Do more stress test and beta's that last a lot longer than 2ish days.
Game came out at midnight of the 20th, Was unable to play with or without a group. Today I was able to get a few hours in but now back to being down during prime times. Shame

You are entitled to your opinion, and your problem will be fixed in a day or so. Possibly even tomorrow.
@weehaynes same here i logged off cause I need to do things and before you know it the servers are unavailable for me
Is it ideal? No.
Was this expected? I think most did.
Honestly, I don't typically bother with a new release for a week.
Let the Dev's comb out their new grey hairs and create some quick and dirty patches that they'll need to fix over the next couple months.
@jambi-bum wow never had server issues any time that I can remember. I was part of every new update from 70- current. With several of them being 20 hour gaming marathons.
